The way I handle rejection is by telling myself that I too have rejected others and I have done it in a very unkind way, so here is a reflection of me, someone rejecting me in an unkind way - I then learn that if I am going to reject someone I will do it kindly. Truth is most of the cruel things people have done to me I have done to others, I have reached a point where I don't take anything to heart again.

I brought up the courage to tell a friend that I like him very much. He told me he is completely unable to be dating at all since his previous relationships went toxic. I kindly assume that he saved both of us from drama, after all he is the common demoninator of all his relationships. I am still proud of myself for having been that brave as it doesn´t come to me naturally. It´s only been a few days, but with this new information about him and celebrating my courage I´m able to reframe the rejection very easily. Even if it weren´t for such a specific reason, celebrate your courage to have made yourself seen. And move on.

You are cute so I wouldn't worry too much. Someone much better will eventually come along and you will just look back and laugh although it seems impossible now. I was cheated on and thrown away a few times without remorse and I thought that I wouldn't be able to go on. But I did and I have zero feelings for those individuals now. There are certain people that will simply monkey branch, leaving a perfectly functional relationship simply because they can get someone with $10 million instead of the person they are currently in who has "only" $10 million. Some people are just fucked up and should be avoided. It's not our jobs to use a electron microscope and figure out why they are flawed. Some view other human beings as some temporary vacations for whatever reason.

I think it’s not only lack of self confidence and attacked ego that people feel then, but also you start questioning if all of this is even worth it at the end of the line. Love is so hard! I remember being with one of my biggest loves, and we were together for 4 years on and off. There were healthy periods and not so healthy, and at that time I didn't have the skills to communicate my demands for the relationship and communicating as a whole. But after we parted it hit me why he wanted to spend so much of my time, if he really wasn't interested in being with me in the first place? Just a waste of each others time and love in my opinion. It really fucked me up about love for years. Maybe until this day. When trust has been broken it's hard to trust someone again. I've been dating and been in short time relationships since, but unfortunately nothing has stuck. Maybe like you said, I'm questioning it all too much and I then attract people who are not ready to commit. Like is there ever a thing as pure love where the ego isn't involved and you actually tell your partner what it is that you feel and want from the future?

Phase two is were I am now so I can share my phase one with others. Finding leverages for phase two is were your strength begins and it is powerful and rewarding. So timely. Yesterday, I had a realization my crush may not be as interested in me as I was in him ... And it was crushing, excuse the pun. But it did hurt a lot, because he's the first guy I've ever liked in a long time ... And I've had a crush on him for almost a month. When it finally dawned on me, I felt rejected and I cried about it and went through different phases wondering what was wrong with me. But after processing things, I feel much better, and learned I need to have more belief in myself and my self worth and self confidence. I'll be okay, and one day I'll meet a guy who'll like me back too! 😊 Edit: Oh, I've actually been processing my thoughts about Matthew's question ... How I thought this guy is out of my league and therefore made me feel less confident. Isn't that weird? And I also had flashbacks about the rejections I got from my exes and felt even more deflated. But I know I am worthy of love, and I am worthy of having it reciprocated, so I'm gonna work on gaining even more self confidence!

And if you really wants it, never drop trying again in a better way. That's great, I discovered it two years ago after a heartbreak and a great changing of life. My situation is very complicated. I've learned that he actually likes me. But, when I made first move, he started to act strange, answering my texts after 2 hours, ignoring me. But when I stopped talking to him, he started to hate me for this act. I am so tired of trying to understand him. Why boys are so complicated..

My last rejection was hard. He told me I was the perfect package for him and he was really confused why he no longer felt the spark for me after 4 months of telling everyone I was the one. You’d think that if he really thought that way about me he would try a little harder. It just feels really cruel.

Sounds like HE has some issues that he needs to work on and he’s turning it around on you. That’s really unfair and immature thing to say to someone. I have a feeling that you are worthy of a lot more than he has to offer and in a few months you will be able to look back on this breakup with thankfulness. Hug!

@@StorytellingHeadshots thank you for your kindness! I just got word about 2 weeks ago that he just did this same thing to another girl recently, dude has issues and doesn’t seem to want to work on them. This rejection is probably a blessing in disguise! 😊

This is why you need to be very careful of people. There are manipulators out there that will tell you what you want to hear to hook up when in reality they don't mean a word of it. It's easy for these types to pull the plug because the feelings were never there on their side. This leaves the other person in the relationship heartbroken. No one can force feelings, but there is no excuse for lying and playing with someone's emotions. And what these pieces of shit do is twist it around in an attempt to make it seem like it was your fault...works as a "Get Out of Jail Free" card for them.

Also going through a similar thing. He would make sweeping promises and statements about how I was the only one for him, how much he loved me etc, but he had a lot of insecurities, hurt and fear of being alone, he couldn't stop himself from seeking out attention all over the place. I gave him so many chances, trying to be loving and forgiving, even working on myself but it continued. So I had to walk away. Even 6 months after breaking up with him, he came back with the same promises, but I had a feeling he was just seeking to fill his loneliness. He asked to get back together. When I said that he would need to work on himself and we would both need to make it work, he told me he had already been chatting to another girl, and decided to go with her instead. After nearly a year in painful limbo, I not only suffered rejection, but realised that the man I loved and gave everything to, only saw me as an option. My love for him was real, deep and I was willing to do anything to make it work, but for him, he only know show to chase the next source to fill his loneliness. This is the danger of someone who refuses to do the hard work to work on themselves. They are left with their impulsive self protection behaviours. Its the easier option for them, so they keep doing it. I feel so bad for the girl he's currently with, as she is in the same position I was in when I started with him. Once the love bombing and honeymoon period is over, he'll just do the same. It's hard when you care and you still want them to be happy. But at some point you realise that you deserve to be more than just someone's option. You deserve someone who is sure of, who chooses you and is willing to do what is takes to make it work. You deserve to be loved in the way you need.

My life struggles in a video 😳 awesome and it made me realise I’m not more damaged because I was rejected a thousand times but I’m a much more beautiful human being and humble to my ego and more determined than ever to do and be what I want to create for myself in this world! The fear of being me was holding me back my self rejection was holding me back and the Illusion that being „ a failure“ makes me less valuable as a human. Now I want to be proud of me because I dared to be a failure I rather want to fail then never experience my joy of openly doing and sharing what I love most!

Rejection is like taking hits to the body. Too many body blows will damage you. Yes you will build calluses but over time it just diminishes you. If you don't have to take them, good for you. It really just comes down to numbers. The more fights you take the more you build up skills for the next fight regardless of the outcome, but the price is very high. Is it worth it? Take the hits as a young person because later down the road as a 30-40 something year old you won't be as limber, but you will be set in your ways. Basically, fight to find luck, and maybe you will win every fight you ever take. Protect the heart and protect those limbs!

There is no cure-all for rejection. All I can say is that the more you experience it, the more desensitised you become. When I am looking for a job and I get rejected after an interview, when I'm rejected by a guy etc it hurts. But I always tell myself to pick myself up and keep going. And sometime I do find that I get more accustomed and I become more able to easily move on and keep trying in a different way, reflect on my mistake or what I've done etc. I met someone recently whose self esteem was so low. I remember that it became all consuming to the point that it affected the way he behaved towards other women. I didn't think it was my job to educate him (he was just an acquaintance) but I can say, is don't lash out and punish others for the crime of one. Convert that negative energy into something positive and focus on it.

We go through the seven stages of grief (denial, bargaining, etc) and then come to acceptance. The part where we accept that things could not have been any different. That we accept the ending and move on. We accept that nature has a different plan for us, a different path. Getting to that place of acceptance without absolutely hating and being bitter about everything and everyone around us is the real challenge.

So helpful, Matthew. Sometimes we have to go though severe pain in our lives to truly appreciate the joyful events. When I was 15, I was so depressed that I considered suicide. Somehow, God gave me the strength to say: "I'm not going to let the turkeys win." Transform bad energy like rejection into the powerful energy you need to change your whole life.

Dave175- I am so sorry that you’ve had to endure the heartbreak and abandonment from your last relationship. My heart goes out to you 🤗! I am currently struggling with wanting to fight for a romantic relationship that never started, but I read into things too much(I know that I’m not delusional and that the guy who rejected me is interested in me more than he either allows himself to feel or understands of himself, and that’s okay. I will find someone that does.). I have this inner longing to be seen, heard, and accepted for who I am, even if I am just a friend. I wish you personal growth, love, and all of the happiness that comes your way! Good luck!

This was great! Thank you for sharing 😁 what holds me back right now is the thought process that I need to perform to be chosen when in actuality I am also choosing too! The first thought is control everything to then have nothing in my control because it's all contingent on some one else. I think the second thought is healthier and is the place I need to move too more where I accept myself where I am and I'm choosing a partner who accepts that as well. I hope that makes sense lol but it helped me get clarity so thank you for the question😊
