This glute focused workout is all about putting the work in! Packed with hip thrust variations, it is up to you to perform every single rep to the great range in motion possible. Hitting all of the muscles that make up the glutes, with assistance from the hamstrings and quads, this is a very demanding workout when you do it right!
The ‘glutes’ are made up of many muscles, deep and superficial. We regularly hear about the more superficial muscles (gluteus maximus, medius and minimus) however the deep smaller muscles all have important roles to play in stabilising the pelvis and lateral rotation of legs.
Why train the glutes?
Strengthening the glute muscles can bring many benefits including reduced risk of dominance of over muscles such as hamstrings, quads and adductors, which can lead to imbalances and increased risk of injury; improvements to overall training performance (absorption of impact ie. jumping with more of the impact going to hips as apposed to knees); can alleviate lower back & knee pain associated with weak glutes; increases to bone density, improved posture and of course those physical goals.
For this glute session, you will need a heavier weight(s), such as x1 dumbbell, x2 dumbbells, barbell, kettlebell! A comfortable chair/sofa/bench for hip thrusts is perfect but you can absolutely perform bridges in the mat if you prefer as with a yoga block for elevated lunges as you can perform regular with both feet on the ground!
A glute band is needed and an option is a towel to place under weight to make hip thrusts more comfortable!

Exactly why I train glutes at least 2-3 times a week… leg day forces me to toss in at least 20 mins of glutes as well as for active recovery, and of course glute day…

@Jasmine Hi Jasmine...yes a really good example of why strong glutes are important. Many people have strong quads but neglect other lower body muscles which leads to imbalances and hence niggling injuries. I have always worked my glutes and have never had injury from my exercise. Matthew

My knees have been killing me lately, so I took a couple weeks off from high intensity training. I haven’t really trained my lower body and the depression is real. But here comes Caroline to the rescue posting a glute focused/no squat video. I needed this!! So good. 🔥🔥

Matthew, I agree with everything you said! Caroline is just a brilliant trainer, with so much knowledge, experience and she has great intuition when it comes to putting together certain exercises. This glute workout... I don't have words for what just happened. This was constant burn and let me lying on the floor with pain in my glutes. But good pain. The second circuit was just killer and thank god that we had to repeat it just once per side. The hip thrusts were challenging and the standing band circuit was just 👌👌👌 Pulses in the finisher- I was screaming! If someone doesn't feel their glutes after that, they are 100% doing it wrong. This series is just fantastic and Caroline deserves every single praise here and on the fb community page. Enjoy and have a lovely day😊☀️

I really love the explanation of “why we train certain muscles” I enjoy looking at the quality of muscle strength and its importance in longevity in a persons overall physical strength and health than compared to aesthetics. I think it helps people understand the human body is kinda like a machine even neglecting the smallest parts can lead to various altercations in overall health so always train everything with the upmost importance and quality as you would any other muscle. ✨👌🏻💪🏻

My glutes on fire 🔥 first thing in the morning I checked the channel to see if the workout is uploaded! I got so excited to see it! In the middle of the workout I felt dead and my Brain kept telling me you can’t do this! but guess what! I SMASHED IT! I’m dead though and looking forward to it tomorrow’s rest day! Hi Caroline.. I just finished this workout and I used 24 kgs for my hip thrusts today!! WHO AM I !? I combined all the dumbbells and put all of them on my hip and thrusted away 😌😌 ... Thank you for all the free goodies Caroline .. You're such a blessing to all of us 💗💪

No matter how many times I come back to this one it still makes me CRY. I love it. I modify it every time to make it more difficult, like today, instead of the banded last circuit, I did weighted bulgarian lunges and LORD it hurts so good

Absolutely brilliant!! Caroline has creates such workouts words cant even describe. Its been 10months im training w Caroline and my body composition has changed tremendously. Im a mom of two too just like Caroline and i never thought i could achieve anything even near what i achieved so far. less than an our a day five times a week. absolutely genious. Now im having no or very little bodyfat and such muscle definition i never dreamt of ever have. Feeling strong and the brst part of it that im feeling strong not just in body but in my spirit too. Im able to connect with my higher self through following such discipline and determination and im able to hold more "light" in my being due the structured training regime which leads me to be a much more connected and harmonised being. Im forever so greatful for you Caroline to make these programs available for everyone who wished to tune in and willing to become a much better and evolved individual😇💖

Hi Caroline !!! All of your glutes workout I’ve done always let my glutes on 🔥 but this one will be “Nro. 1” . It looks great-creative but hard to do, so just 🔥🔥🔥🔥. By the way I’ll like to thank you, not just for all you do for this community, but for helping me to get stronger every day and in the right way, your workouts have been helping me with my bone density, I have a bit of early osteoporosis in my spine and I’m working on everything to reach my goal which is not only get well-strong but to reverse it as much as can. So awesome. I went to the gym for the first time in 15 months . Did squats, glutes and hamstrings using equipment and an abs class but I could not wait to come home and do your workout today. You are so right Fiorella! I have been part of a gym for over 20 years so it was surprising to me that I would consider not returning. They unfroze my membership and started charging my account so I thought I should go 😁. I would not have hesitated at all if I had not found her workouts. Caroline is the best!

The burn was real! One of the hardest glute workouts by far! Caroline is just a superb trainer, my glutes were in agony the whole 45 minutes. The second circuit was fierce👌

No one does glutes like Caroline! That was superb!!😃 And with no long rest til the finisher that stayed intense from the get-go! Hip thrusts galore and then into single leg work🔥🔥! I always love the step back lunges🥰. The standing band work was great! Wow it burned!! And that finisher..wow..my glutes just wanted to stop functioning and cramp at that point. Haha! Loved it! Thanks for yet another awesome workout Caroline!! See you guys Friday!

Hi Melinda....sounds like your experience was just like mine! I just loved the feeling of pushing on through the burn in this one...and as you say the short rests kept the intensity up! I loved the work with the band...circuit three just killed...and I really enjoyed the finisher...exactly the same feelings as you had! What a great workout! I liked the last circuit, though I didn't really know which leg was supposed to feel the burn more? the supporting leg or the moving one.. Felt it most in the supporting leg!

7/7/2021 01:10 AM!! OMIGOSH CAROLINE!! I was too excited to do this workout before I go to work at 3AM today!! Got day 3 glute isolation DONE!! I absolutely loved the band exercises (used them during PT for my knee)…..I also used a 60 lb total bar for hip thrusters!! I swear, your workouts are the BEST!! This happy Nurse LOVES your weekly! Loved it. My hamstrings are still sore from Monday so the SL elevated hip thrusts got me! Had to pause and take a breather! I swapped out the banded step backs for donkey kick pulses as I feel those more. Mixing in BW is a favourite feature for me in your workouts. Looking forward to full body Friday!
