The reason the White Walkers are back is because the Starks broke the pact they had with them. It had been so long they had forgotten. There was a name that was forbidden in the North and that name was Jon Snow. There’s magic associated with that name and it stirred things, ancient things, and the White Walkers came to resume the war since their truce was ended by Ned’s breach. Rhaeghyr unknowingly fulfilled the prophecy in bringing about Azor Ahai because when Ned agreed to keep her secret he kept the secret of the dragon and the winter maid - and named him a blessing and a curse at once. That’s why Jon Snow is probably the single most important character (despite it not being all about him). Because his is the Song of Ice and Fire. It runs through his veins. Especially since he’ll awaken a Fire Wight in the books while being a Stark of Winterfell and a Targaryen of the Blood of the Dragon.

I’m a novice GoT fan. While I’ve watched the entire series 1-7 times past counting, I never read the books until I happened by “The Gray Area” around 4 weeks ago. You’re so in-depth and well spoken, when you read from the books it spurred me into reading them myself! I’ve watched other GoT videos & most are good, but there is something in your voice that keeps me coming back here. 😊 I’d love to listen to the book series with You narrating. One of my favorite theory subjects.What if the NK is the Lord Commander of the farthest northern wall? The original Nights Watch oaths says "We are the watchers on the WALLS. The WW were created by the CotF but as ice warriors to man the walls and hold the "Others" at bay. Men had to be supplied, turned by the CotF to reinforce the Ice Watch. But after centuries, the north forgot and stopped supplying reinforcements. The CotF were dying off and Bloodraven was the last greenseer. The men on the wall were dwindling, forts abandoned and few took the oath before the Weirwood. And the followers of R'hillor were growing. Only Craster supplied "men" for the wall and the Ice Watch had to adapt. The WW did not kill any of the men who swore their oath before the Weirwood. They are true brothers of the watch. The NK is scoping out Jon to determine if he will be the one to replace him.

The Night's King is using Craster's sons to warg into when he (The Night's King) body is getting old.The walkers with beards are his older "shells" , The runes /cave drawings on Dragonstone show The Night's King with a Beard. This could explain what the Varymyr prologue was about , Warging many things at once( The Night's King warging the dead) and Second Life ? Thanks for all you do Gray

THe thing about coming for Bran but he came for Bloodraven and the children. He could have easily gotten to Bran but it is the wights that go for him. The big showdown in the cave is where the NK stares at Bloodraven and kills him. I think there is room to say he didn't come specifically for Bran but got him in the dream to get at the children and Bloodraven.

So much to consider... love both your channels and when you ladies come together it’s such a treat! I do agree that the NK is seeking out Starks. Makes me wonder what would happen if he saw Arya as she is also repeatedly said to have Stark features as well. Maybe she will have a different face and won’t be recognized. The NK does come harder for Bran than anyone else, I agree that he is a greenseer like Bran. Why do you ladies think Benjen Stark took the black when a prominent house had already lost two children to pass on the line, and then one after he took the black. In the show Benjen talks to Ned and they seem to get along, however, there’s no dialogue between them in the books. I think there’s a missing piece here. He clearly knows who Jon is, as you can tell from his reaction to Jon wanting to take the black in Jon’s first POV chapter. Thanks ladies! Love your work!

Thank you Ladies, I really enjoyed this video. I agree, the White walkers have greenseer abilities. I did a video on this subject, in which I based my theory on Bran's dream of the "Lands of Always Winter". In these dreams Bran sees dreamers impaled on ice spikes, dreamers being dead or not so dead, greenseers who traveled there before Bran and were trapped there by the White Walker's leaders which give them greensight, thus the White Walkers have greenseer abilities. Not only that but after we saw the NK surround Jon and his team and Dany had to come rescue them, most people agree that scene was proof that the NK had laid a trap because he knew Dany would come which means he is a greenseer. Also don't forget, while Bran was traveling around, not only could the NK see Bran but he was even able to walk right up to him and *grab* Bran by the arm! So yeah, at least the NK has to be a greenseer if not all the WW's.

Gray Secrets are fun secrets! I like the way the White Walkers look on the show, I think it helps give them that “otherly” look. I think the Night King knows who Jon and Bran are, and they are the reason things are happening now. He may want to destroy them, but I think there’s a good chance that his real goal is to end magic and lift the spell that made him the Night King.

I think it depends on what the Night King and the dead really represent. If they are the literal symbol of death then the Night King can’t die and will keep returning years later. The long night is a way to restore balance in the world. Death then life and the cycle continues. Like the repeated history of war and destruction in our world and then times of peace.
