I rented a house with a field and it was high up on a hill. I. The winter I would let them camp on my field and once a week the kids would come and have a hot bath and I would chat with the mums. In return I asked that they kept the field clean and caused no problems and lived quietly. Worked really well. One day one of the kids broke the fence so I went and had a word with their parents and it was fixed the next day and the child came and apologised . Treat people decently and they will return the favour.

There was a recent incident at local takeaway owned by a British Indian. Some 4-5 teen boys of travelling community entered the shop and ordered too many things in the menu. The owner sensed they were in no way capable or willing to pay for any of the stuff. He still fulfilled their order, packed in carry bags and slapped the bill of about £200. They laughed, passed mean comments, threw the bill in bin, snatched the carry bags and ran from shop. Next they were chased by the owner and his men with cricket bats. Within 200 mtr of running all captured, battered brutally with crickets bats, locked in the parking garage until next morning with no access to food or water. While releasing, owner literally asked them to come up in their vans to get vandalized if they dare.

I used to work in a psychiatric hospital, and one night the gypsys had moved into the large carpark for the day center. We had seriously needy and vulnerable people that were too scared to come onto the property. In fairness they didn't know what the place was before they moved there. One of my managers had links to the traveller community and she went and spoke with the head of the families and explained what this place was and they moved the next day. However, for the 24 hours they were there, they caused absolute chaos. The local tesco was just full of the kids walking in, picking up anything they wanted from the shelf and walking out without paying. Not even trying to be conspicuous or subtle and then giving abuse to the shop workers if they confronted them. Awful people in my experience and they bring that reputation on themselves.

There was human waste, old food, takeaway containers, nappies in all the bushes and hedges. They piled up as much as they could then just disappeared before the notice to move on was even served. As an irish person, in my little town the traveler children are a huge problem. They destroy property, steal other people's animals,(stole my friend's chickens) make animals fight each other, catcall people on a wooden carriage, (where did they even get that??) hit people with said carriage (including almost my mom) and are generally obnoxious. The parents never step in... Nobody can step in to their section of an estate or they lose it but they are constantly stealing from people 💀💀 Everytime someone tries to stop them or just say go away they claim prejudice... It's almost funny, if it wasn't so annoying Getting catcalled by an 13 year old boy with greasy, slicked back hair sitting on a horse is not the highlight of my day tbh

See, the thing is if they found a bit of UNSED land and camped for a while, didn’t cause any issues and took their rubbish with them most people wouldn’t have an issue. What annoys people is when they take over local parks, are rude and aggressive to people and break onto private land by cutting locks etc and then leaving the area they have been like a dumping ground. I've been in contact with travellers a few times and learnt a bit about how they work. The men act aggressive and confrontational and will try to scare you. However, sometimes they are just trying to intimidate you to test if you are weak. They are people at the end of the day and nobody really wants to get into fights, they just do it because they have to. I had a traveller try and threaten me in a pub for no reason once, i stood up to him and there was no fight, instead he shook my hand and brought me a pint. He had his mate with him so it was obvious he was only doing it to show off. If you show fear, the travellers will definitely walk all over you. Understanding how different cultures work will get you a lot further in life. The travellers will say they enjoy the life but deep down it must be hell, constantly having to be on guard, participating in feuds, too much drama for me.

Some people do get carried away about it, panicking , worrying they'll get broken into, won't be safe in their beds etc when the travellers were on my local field last week. @katyjames43194 жыл бұрын
I think its more like city management. The proper name is local authority but everyone calls it the council. Responsible things like rubbish collection, traffic light maintenance, school provision and housing. Every uk resident is supposed to pay council tax to go towards the upkeep of their area. It dependent on the value of the house when it was last sold
@rustynails87564 жыл бұрын
@@katyjames4319 thank you. Was never quite sure. In the US we a were are individually responsible for those services and each service provider determines the rates, though many utilities are managed by a municipality and bill based un useage. Home Owner Associations act a lot like your councils most home buyers avoid them if possible because of all the rediculus rules they come up with. Thanks for taking the time to help me understand.

One of the nicest customers I ever had when I worked the brothels in Manchester was an Irish traveller lad who was unsurprisingly apparently called Patrick, he was having an arranged marriage to a cousin and was only 18 and enjoyed seeing me a few times before he was married. He was so polite and kind and like many travellers just looked otherworldly, like someone from a long time passed.

@@luisvilla799 in greater Manchester, London yeah. Depends on the local police forces policy. Its allowed by GMP so a lot of girls go there from Liverpool Newcastle etc where any brothel is took out game by police. Travellers some of the loveliest clients, won't get no bullshit off them unlike a lot of other sections of society Never tried to rip me off either unlike British Pakistanis!

It’s “gorger” or “gadgie” not Georgies lmao. Anyways, ALOT of travellers nowadays have MOT, licenses, and tax because it’s illegal and it’s a lot harder to avoid police now but back in the 90s travellers did not drive with insurance etc. Not all, just some. Also, yes, travellers and gypsies have bad grammar, because the majority of the parents didn’t finish school and the kids skipped school a lot but please don’t judge a full group of thousands of people on some, there are good and bad in every race, ethnic group and so on.

I lived near a travellers' camp for nearly 6 years and never met a friendlier bunch of people. Ok so they weren't very well educated but that didn't mean they were any less human than myself, my family or my friends. Their intelligence came in different forms and their way of life has been like this for thousands of years...unlike us that own 'homes'. There is good and bad in every culture.

Life can be hard when you've paid NO tax and can still claim FULL benefits....why the hell should society pay for people who refuse to be part of society, and who want to do what they want when they want without any regard for us or law and order. Round them up, put them in shitty flats and make them work...just the rest of us.

If you went into a bank with £50k in cash and put it on the counter they would phone the police, HMRC and the VAT people. You would have to prove where you've got it from and that you've paid tax and VAT on it if required. Drive round in a Range Rover towing a top of the range caravan and nobody asks where you got the money from or how you are affording to live. The cars are registered abroad so they don't pay road tax and can't be traced. The caravans should have numbers on so that they can be individually identified.

One of my best friends at school was a gypsy, (kinda). Her mother fled her abusive husband and got fully kicked out of the whole thing. She took her 2 year old and just bolted.She ended up working as a waiter in London in the 1990's, where she meet her second husband. He's Australian and he made an absolute fuckton in the early 2000's tech boom. This was after my friends mum had married him and moved with her daughter to Australia. So anyway my friend grew up here and never knew her mums family or anything, but eventually her family found out about them. And let me tell you, travellers might talk a big game kicking people out and only marrying within their group, but the minute they found out what my friends step-father was worth (like I dunno defiantly tens of millions) they disregarded the whole thing. They where obsessed with moving here and becoming "Part of the family".
