All these matches in S2 fall under the "Spring Tournament" name, it's just different stages First is the preliminaries, which Karasuno had to play because they didn´t get too far in the tournament from S1, which was called Inter-High. Teams like Aoba Johsai, Shiratorizawa and Johzenji that did get pretty far skip the prelims. Then come the Qualifiers, which all teams that either skipped or got through the prelims play in, this one decides the Miyagi Representative for the National Spring Tournament, which is in Tokyo. Shiratorizawa has been the Miyagi Representative for Nationals for 3 years straight I think

To be honest I always watch openings, the animation studio decided it fits, there are always "spoilery things" but at first watch you wont notice because of lack of context.

There are TWO national tournaments in a year: Inter-High (the one in Season 1) and the Spring Tournament. Both have two phases: qualifiers for each region in Japan and the National tournament itself played by the best in each region. Karasuno lost in the qualifiers phase in S1, Aoba Johsai lost to Shiratorizawa and Shiratorizawa got to play Nationals (off-screen) Now we are in the qualifiers phase for the second National tournament. Karasuno has to beat all the teams in Miyagi to be able to compete in Nationals.

i love this episode so much! despite no actual games, it feels like so much went on. also 8:14 is so funny because oikawa wasn't even trying to be intimidating there LMAO if you look at his reaction to maddog backing away, he's just as confused 😭 just the idea of oikawa being unsettling without even realizing it sometimes is hilarious

There are national level tournaments for summer inter high as well. But at also the top 8 teams from the summer inter high tournament are directly seeded to spring qualifiers and so they don't have to play the earlier preliminary rounds. The rest 8 teams are selected through prelims. But both the tournaments are gateway to nationals.

In this tournament are only playing the teams in Miyagi region (Karasuno, Shiratorizawa, Aoba, Dateko). Nekoma, Fukurodani and the other teams that were in the campament are in Tokyo region. Then the one who win this tournment are allowed to play the nationals against the winners of the rest of the regions in Japan.

Fukoradani and Nekoma are on different prefecture that's why they can't show up yet until the Nationals. Each prefecture has only 1 slot so they need to beat everyone on their prefecture to have slot on Nationals. For years Shiratorizawa were always the representative of Miyagi prefecture stopping Oikawa and Seijoh on going to Nationals.

this is all still the miyagi qualifiers for the spring national tournament. nekoma are in another region they also have to win their qualifiers back in tokyo to qualify for the national spring tournament. btw the tournament that karasuno lost in season 1 was also a qualifier for the other national tournament of the year (called inter high). Shiratorizawa won the qualifier against seijoh in the finals so they qualified for the inter high. Shiratorizawa lost at some stage there because we know that Itachiyama, where sakusa plays (a top 3 ace in japan) won the inter high because kuroo said in ep11 that they are the favourite for the coming spring tournament.

Hey Teddy , I Hope you know that MAPPA will animate „Chainsaw Man“ , it’s currently one of the most hyped anime adaptations to come. I do hope you consider checking out the trailer , to me it’s like on my top 3 most liked manga (Attack on Titan / Hunter x Hunter, and Chainsaw man) I read through this thing twice and it’s a super cool shonen with a really brutal plot. Tatsuki Fujimoto is the authors name and he gains a lot of frikkin attention lately. So please just remember the name „Chainsaw Man“ and when the times come , believe the hype. ✌🏼👉🏻👉🏻

We didn't necessarily agree but it was all tasteful and the discussions were very valid.
