As an update, the president of the Spanish Boxing Federation stated that they were not going to revoke the license. Additionally, it should be noted that in the video, the boxer even extends his hand to the abuser when the latter was already in a fighting stance, trying to avoid conflict. To top it off, he goes around apologizing in the room to everyone who witnessed the incident. He's a very kind and respectable guy.

Some average dude is not competing with prime Mike Tyson or Canelo. Their punches can lead to serious injury and are treated differently from some average person's. Him swinging first is definitely not a good look and definitely hurts his case. Im still glad that he didn't get punished tho.

It's more just that professional boxers are held to a higher standard when they fight other people because of a potential for harm. This dude may have been an abuser, but he's obviously not some trained professional boxer. Antonio's hands are considered much greater force escalation then some random Joe Schmo throwing hands. That doesn't mean I don't support what he did, I do. Just there's greater scrutiny when a boxer punches out a civilian because they can easily kill someone.

Then, the victims know all too well just how dangerous and obsessed their abusers are. That means you have to become selective about when or how you escape. If you try to escape at the wrong time, and fail, it is like being locked alone in a room with an angry bear, so you can obviously have your life ended. Okay - thing is, as a professional FIGHTER (martial arts, boxing, etc) your training can basically make your hands/feet lethal weapons. THATS why they had to look into it. The fact the boxer DID NOT want to fight, AND APOLOGIZED showed he was defending, not being aggressive. Anyways. Thats my opinion as to WHY it had to be evaluated.
