I'm 29, and I’m just now starting to realize this. The way I been living is completely backward and making me miserable. This realization alone makes me feel depressed. The last 12 months of my life I moved out and away from my crazy family, changes jobs, cut out bad friends, went back to school and I am slowly finding peace within myself. Love and peace.

I have grown up living with a dad that always talked about the future, about how much money we were going to get and where we'd be financially, and over the years I either worried about the past or the future, and sometimes id be worrying about why i couldn't live in the present . I struggled a lot with showing my emotions and not being able to express them correctly, people would tell me "all you have is now" and it was very difficult for me to understand. I have lost many people, things, by worrying. I am going to watch this again when i wake up and I'm going to work smart on understanding "how to be present". This is my first time watching you, and you triggered something in my brain that now I'm conscious of and im going to change for the better of me

This is one of the best explanations i’ve heard for staying in the moment Mel! It made such a difference when you explained “savoring” rather than what most others teach as simply “noticing” and “observing” what’s around you. This video has seriously changed my life. Thank you a million times!

To me that seems like you're really appreciating the beautiful moments that you had in the past. I think that's a good thing! The tricky part is to then remember that the present and future also have equally beautiful moments waiting for your attention. They may take a different form, but life is capable of providing an infinite array of lovely experiences. It does take a focused intention and willingness to experience them, but I believe you have it in you! Life did not just limit them to your past. Wishing you all the very best!

Hello Trinity and others 💙 My wish is that this message reaches you and anybody that ends up reading this even if this great video was posted a while ago! But it relates to the subject of it very well. The Now. All the monents since the idea about making this video until my now writing this text and your Now reading this is always in the present. It's not past despite the date. The past exist because you remember it, there is nothing you can change. The future exists only because you imagine it that way now. Some events make sure it will never exist. So, knowing that action and feelings only happen in the Now isn't it the only place to be? 😁 By doing things that bring you joy, you live the emotions Now, creating your future good memories... You like to remember the emotions you lived then and it's good! But now, you prefer feeling great being busy to live, creating new future memories... Big hugs, with love, always!💙💙 Sophie

Great advice. Thank you 🙏🏽. I struggled with anxiety and panic attacks. I have to say that at least the psychologists I saw, did not help at all. But that’s another story. We don’t become aware or we do not wake up into awareness unless we have experienced difficult times in our lives. I was a multi task multi functional type of person. I developed anxiety and anger through the years for many reasons. I was somehow good at not dwelling in the past, so I do not know what depression really is, but I got to know anxiety very well and not the light state of anxiety that most people feel. I mean crazy constant anxiety attacks that lead to panic. That you feel you’re gonna lose control of yourself. It was awful. But I found out doctors could not help me. I started reading about Buddhism and books of Thich Nhat Hanh and Eckart Tolle and my life started to change. Living in the present is the key,. But I’ve learned to control my feelings and my ego while interacting with other people. I leave work and get in my car and forget about what happened at work. Just enjoy the driving home. Just like when I’m at work I’m present at work and I don’t even look at what time it is. When I’m home I’m home, not anywhere else. I am calm now. When I feel I’m a bit anxious I watch my thoughts and I know I have to come back to the present. It hasn’t been easy but it’s simple. You just have to be aware and practice constantly being in the present moment.

Thanks, Mel! For 30+ years, I've done a deep dive into personal development. YOUR grounded inspiration has inspired me to share YOU - and other great voices - with my husband. We will start with this video 1st thing in the a.m., followed by your 10 Rules for Success, which we will also listen to in the evening. For years, my hubster has asked me to suggest personal development books/audios & I've declined - what works for me might not ring true for him. But this short video + your 10 Rules..., everything I've watched is so basic aha-ing inspiring that I know - for the 1st time in my 28-year ever-growing, ever-reaching marriage - that YOU are our starting place. So, this video + your 10 Rules... twice a day for a week, then move to a new voice that we pick together & begin/end our day the same way. Thanks for the inspiration on living in each of our individual & partnered moments! Will let you know how it goes.

I'm so glad there are people in the world like you.. Anyway I am either in the past or future... (past fixing my walls I have built up because of pain or mental trauma.. If I don't have peace with what happend or at least accept what I have been through I can't grow in life) (Future oh boy this one is the most used one.. For I must constantly plan etc what will I do blah bla bla.) I could just have faith.. But instead I worry or yes anxiety. The present moment I only find when sometimes alone.. And with family or animals.. Sometimes with friends.. Maybe because of circumstances I am anxious and jumpy or sometimes panicked.. Well I'm 25 years old living in South Africa without a Job finally studying and unfortunately still with my mother and stepfather.. Maybe because the difficulty in the situation or certain things I don't understand... Because I found out that you can find yourself or mindset in a maze... I sent allot of applications out for jobs and still not getting any were... This COVID-19 really put everyone in the world upside-down Even in South Africa allot of people lost their jobs But anyway hope you find time to read my story Would appreciate it if you can give me your honest or criticism on what you see.. I love it when people are straight forward... I just think I put myself in this position maybe because of the country economy? Fear of responsibility for high taxes or hatred towards this system our country is in... The all bad negative things and how corrupt our country are.. Anyway just wanted tonget that out.. In the meantime looking forward to hear from you.. #blessings

The Bhagavad Gita, a sacred Hindu scripture, emphasizes the importance of concentration, focus, and staying in the present moment to achieve spiritual growth and success. It encourages individuals to channel their thoughts and actions towards a singular purpose, focusing their mind on the task at hand without being distracted by past regrets or future anxieties. This practice aids in achieving a state of mindfulness and flow, enhancing overall effectiveness and inner peace.

im 16 so i have so much ahead of me but i can’t stop thinking about the future, i think too much about everyhting like if someone likes me i know bc i unintentionally analyze how they act around me and everything and its horrible bc i want to experience not suspecting they like me and have someone be nervous around me without having to play dumb and act like idk that they like me. that was just an example but the other day i was rewatching an anime so i knew the outcome and wat will happen later on but for a minute i got so lost in the scene that i wasn’t thinking about how i know everything that will happen and i was hype about what happened in the scene and was excited to see what would happen next, that was the first time i’ve “lived in the moment” and it felt so great to not be thinking about the outcome. like when i’m going out of state to see my friends for the first tune in forever, before it happens i will imagine what i will do like run up to my friend and hug her and cry in her arms but when that doesn’t happen i get really disappointed and i don’t know how to stop myself from thinking abt the future like that and i’m too tired to watch this video and ik i’ll forget to watch it tm ugh anyway goodnight everyone😼💅🏼
