So he refuses to make a Berserk game because he respects Miura-sensei's work far too much? What an absolute GOAT, he's likely aware that it would print money easily, but he prefers to leave it untouched, even if his vision and ideas would contribute to an incredible Berserk game, Miyazaki is a universal treasure.

Miyazaki is such a fascinating guy, such an unorthodox way of viewing gaming in general, yet he somehow managed to absolutely nail what appeals to a huge number of humans and in a way that is completely unlike anyone else. Many have tried to copy what he created but none have come close to truly recreating his genius

A big thank you to FromSoft for allowing him the space and freedom to do so, for if not, what would Dark Souls be? I really hope that his interest in Tactics Ogre could lead to Miyazaki and Matsuno working together on a political fantasy game. Outside of Berserk, I can see Michael Moorcock's Eternal Champion stories being a huge influence. The way they deal with convoluted time, cycles constantly repeating themselves, twisted gods using humanity as puppet playthings, making covenants with ancient beings to gain certain magical attributes, all kinds of terrifying cosmic horror shenanigans, taking place in fractured apocalyptic dark fantasy worlds, unconventional protagonists, giant epic battles between men, half-men, demons, gods, wizards, sorcerers and all manner of warrior and beast, etc.

"I enjoy making games even when I'm overwhelmed with work and busy all the time. It's the moment I'm happiest, in general" @ 8:50 is a beautiful quote. I'm a metal musician, and the times when I'm under the most stress (recording/composing/arranging/mixing/producing songs/EPs/albums etc) is when I feel the most alive, I've had 100 hour weeks of work (so average 14 hrs per day) with no days off for almost a whole month before and am looking forward to the next time I get to repeat it. It's cool to see that there are people outside the music/arts industry who share this privilege of turning their biggest hobby and passion into their jobs and be this dignified about it.

Miyazaki's passion for game design, which is both his work and his hobby, could be a problem in the future. Apparently, being so passionate about game design means that his emotions are strongly coupled to his results (this is how he achieves such great results), but without a good balance, his emotions might change (e.g., burnout, mild depression). He is the kind of guy who thinks a lot about his designs in his spare time, so all I can say is: Be careful, Miyazaki! It is nice that Miyazaki is very involved in the map design (I knew it!). I think the world design of Souls games is one of the key elements in those games. Many people are simply longing for challenging boss fights. In my opinion, the world design, the build variety, and boss fights are the key aspects. Just start Elden Ring, look for a nice spot, and look at the beautiful environment. The vista is breathtaking. It often looks like a painting.

His taste in games is very different from mine, yet he helped make some of my very favorite Armored Core games, namely Last Raven and For Answer. In the words of Evangel, "How is it possible?" I often despise games like Ultima Online and Skyrim for having very weak battle mechanics. I must agree with him though...The Legend of Zelda; a Link to the Past was a masterpiece. That type of upheaval is something Miyazaki tends to be interested in.

9:12 I cannot stress enough how much the Map design sets FromSoft games apart from any of the Souls type games. I personally felt bosses/boss designs in FromSoft games are like Cherry on the top but not the main focus. There are lot of games out there that does boss designs well but the Intricate and well connected levels is what no other company could replicate.

Yayyy☺️🫶 So happy about the last few vids! Were great! )Something you can ignore:( Sometimes with your longer videos when you put in everything possible to uncover i feel a mix of overwhelmed and appreciation. I dont know where to balance between giving us everything and making it tidy (because seeing the full length of all the comercial meterial is losing momentum in narative and frame building). Yet i do feel that the style of archived full detailed experiance is very well deserved and is done well~~~... So maybe you could do it as aextra/ encore- summerazing the evolving design of the souls series but focusing and includibg on mainly influential meterial throught about miyazaki, fromsoftware and the souls culture.

Great video. One small correction to note - Japanese curry rice typically uses short-grain rice, instead of jasmine rice: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_curry

Jasmine rice with Japanese curry? Nay, we Japanese are all about that sticky ichy, that short grain goodness.
