Thanks Dan, all your testing has helped me with a troubling memory of my son & I's 1st Father's day trip to Alabama Gold Camp in 2020 with our first homemade wooden sluice. I was certain that the angle was off & lost our Gold to the tailings pile. I believe now, we were in the wrong spot. We have be back to AGC numerous times & all ways enjoy the excursions. Thanks again for,... man, for those that haven't run a Highbanker & done a full clean-up and reset, that is load of work + filming & narration. I give you a true "Thank You".

Awesome job Dan. I taught electronics and computers for nearly ten years and I have to say that nothing in my personal experience taught me more than seeing all the types of mistakes that students made. Everyone sees something that is made to look interesting thinking, hey I could do that. They just fail to realize in most cases that the person doing what they think looks easy has a lot of experience and skill. I guess that's why you make searching for GOLD look easy. Excellent video showing common problems that might be encountered.

Plus the best part is you both got that comment out of your system and proved to every one, friends and fellow prospectors and your own piece of mind as well...Your gonna bring home the good stuff. Nice that you show what happens when you just set your sluice up WRONG. I've spent too many years working to make sure mine was right before putting anything in it that might have any gold in it, not to mention how many times I've shown others what they were doing wrong with theirs, but I've never actually thought to show them WHY and what happened when they had been running theirs like that with good stuff going through it. Then I had to explain why I was breaking those same recommendations while using mine, however; mine is 4' long with Hungarian riffles, miners moss and ridged carpet underneath. Up front I have 1' long with a piece of half inch stainless steel punch plate that runs over the first riffle to give anything heavy a better chance of dropping out as soon as possible. I designed it to run fast and hot, with enough water running through it, I use a 2" drop from point to point, and shovel a full number 2 once a minute. I've put a large bin behind it and check pans have never shown any GOLD in the bin. I love the fishing weights on the third run where you overload the sluice, LOL. Did you move the bin during the run with the mats backwards? During the run where you show it running right after you put it in, the shot shows the bin missing from behind the sluice.

I do know that we all feel a lot better. A collective sigh of relief. Way to Go DAN!!! You absolutely rock. There is gold that is much finer. Have you ever seen it? I wonder if you classify under #100 and run the same test. Would a gram of Gold under a hundred mesh blow through? I think what that guy is saying is that there is a complete other world of microfine gold .Less than #200 ? Less than #300? A gentleman called Aussie Bloke Prospector has an interesting solution. He has a vibrator on his sluice. low angle. Your gold all looks like the gold on the back of a box that the gold pan comes in. With a picture of some course gold and some fines. I believe what your guy is saying is there is 40% microfine Gold sailing by .Get a pan a quarter full of this stuff. Then do what you are taught to do. start sloshing it around. Maybe run it through a sluice and Wa La .....you just tossed it out. I live in the most ancient mountain range. (Boston Mountains) and we have an ancient sea bed. Super fine silver, platinum and gold is the order of the day .Assay What? Call me Caliche Wan. Just don't call me late to dinner.

Just thought I would throw in a great trick for when you're out in the field or even at home. We have tons of black sand. We all know it's a super pain to get the gold from the sand. So try this little trick. Take one of your taller gold vials and put your black sand and gold in it about a quarter full. Then take your snuffer bottle and put the nozzle to the bottom of the vial. Slowly squeeze the vial while gently rocking the tip back and forth and you will watch virtually all your black sand float up and out. I was super surprised how well it worked when I tried it. No one showed it to me it was just a thing I thought up. Try it at home over a good pan. Same basic fluid separation process as that big newfangled gold separating machine that you did the videos on a little bit ago. Good luck to you all and have a yellow day!
