@JimmyStruther go easy on her, she just started two weeks ago, sometimes it takes time to figure it all out. I started out for my health and then became aware of more and more reasons to call myself vegan. I would never go back even if it hadn't affected my health positively

I don't re-hydrate my soy curls in water separately. I find they get soft enough just by adding them to broth or sauces I cook with or steaming them with vegetables (instant pot), and they absorb more flavor and end up less soggy.
@sharonknorr11068 ай бұрын
So I do rehydrate first, in hot water or broth, and then squeeze out all the moisture - you can see all the yellow stuff that comes out and I don't really like that soy flavor. Then I marinate for a least 30 minutes, or longer, squeeze out a little of the excess and then cook. Those who don't mind the soy flavor (I'm not a fan of straight-up tofu either) probably don't need the extra step. But if you do try soy curls and think they have a funny taste, try the double hydration before dismissing them. They are so versatile in many dishes.
@suede05108 ай бұрын
Oh wow! Interesting. Thanks for that tip I will try that.

Thanks for paying homage to Saskatchewan farmers :) The Three Farmers products are very good! I make my own chickpea (lentil, bean, etc.) snacks. We are growers so it's extremely economical and easy for me to source the goods. I simply walk out to the bins. lol. We are blessed to be able to grow the majority of what we eat.

You can make your own homemade PB cups and they taste as good as the Reese's. I have a yard full of nettle growing wild on the farm and I harvest it and make tea as well. I do the same with dandelion, rose hips, thistle, chickweed, raspberry leaves, herbs, etc. I was appalled when I saw what people pay for these in the store since most farmers have an abundance of them that they would love to get rid of!

I make a concoction of two heaping tablespoons PB 2 and one regular tablespoon peanut butter and mix them together with some water. It taste great, and is way less calories and fat.
