I think it's important to push with the appropriate foot in the direction you want to go rather than lifting the first foot, placing it in the direction you want, and then dragging the trailing one like you demonstrated. That way you can learn to move more quickly when you have to. For example, if you're in an orthodox stance and your right foot is in the rear, push with it forward if you want to go forward. Don't just lift the left foot, plant it and then drag the right foot to follow. Like wise If you want to go backwards, push with the left front foot, etc. Same if you're moving to the side. Always push with the appropriate foot.
@traviscraven5389Ай бұрын
Exactly my thot when watching this video. Great video by the way. And I can see how he would explain it like that for total beginners. But even then, learn the right way from the get go. You gotta push forward with the back foot to even start your step forward. And vice versa for a step back, push off the front foot, lift your back foot and you will propel yourself backward. Your comment needs to be pinned at the top

Elementary foundation must first be solidly established. I have always thought and felt this. You have taken the time to focus on the first foundation. Thank you for doing this. Often times I have come across fighting technique skill videos and for me at least they move too quickly with everything. Rather then letting the trainee focus on getting one phase right and than moving forward Like regular training with an instructor. First learn and get into your mind correct form or everything else will be screwed up. So again, thank you for this. Will set up tape markings in my backyard soon and begin to first solidly establish my footwork! 🙂
