Interesting thing is,this "hobit" believed still exist all around Indonesia with different name..like Ebu Gogo (in flores where you there),Bunian/Bunian tribe in West Sumatra, Mante/Mante Tribe (Aceh), Uhang Pandak (Sumatera), Oni Tribe (Sulawesi), etc..but sometimes this tribe kind of in borderline between fact and myth,. Me myself believe that this particular tribe living deep in the Jungle somewhere in Indonesia..it almost like the case of Koroway Tribe where this particular tribe didnt even realize other human until a researcher found them in 1970..

Wow, that's fascinating to think about. Indonesia is so vast, that there is a possibility of uncontacted tribes.

before tourism, the Liang Bua cave was regularly used as a chill-out place during hot summer days by the nearby villagers. Liang Bua literally means a cool cave, it should have been 'Liang Es' or Ice Cave, but locals have never seen ice in their whole entire lives, and yeah no fridge to make ice cubes either, what is a fridge without electricity anyway. The coldest material the planet can offer them is a hailstone or in the local language the Bahasa Manggarai they call it 'BUA', so they revered Liang Bua 'as cool as ice' or in their world simply 'as cool as the hailstone' hence the name Liang Bua. Enjoy your travel in Flores and have a safe trip

Flores has typical islandification effect fo animals which lived in small island for long period of time. Giant animal turned into smaller creature such as the elephant turned into pygmy elephant including human turned into smaller size human. Meanwhile small animals turned into giant one such as rat turned into giant rat and obviously lizard turned into komodo dragon. Such an interesting path of evolution.
