Stretching - that’s why I avoid mono for jerkbait lures especially like ryuki series. Maybe I give it a go with twitch master. Also another fact that since it sinks faster than braid it is less prone to be carried away which is essential for stream fishing
@HobieWanKenobi3 жыл бұрын
Good point about the line control in the current. I find Twitch Master is great for having maximum control of your lure in river currents. The ability to jerk lures and get great feedback is most apparent. The line control as you mentioned keeps the line in a better position to work targets such as rocks or turbulence easier too. Braid gives great feedback but, lacks shock resistance (fish hitting in current) and also can get carried away downstream faster.
@RonMTube3 жыл бұрын
I think what you're trying to describe is percent elongation before breaking. For example, normal nylon might stretch 30% before it breaks but maybe twitch master only stretches 10%. Of course I'm just making up those numbers but I think that's the idea.

Hey hobie I quick question not related to the video. On the alphas air tws do you mess with the cast control knob? Or do you just leave it at the factory setting? Great videos by the way.

I set the cast control knob to allow the smallest amount of side to side play when moved side to side

Great video!! Very informative. I have been using yozuri hybrid mono. It has lower stretch, and is a little thinner than competitors. Of course that means it's slightly more brittle
@HobieWanKenobi3 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I found some hybrid lines break easier in colder weather
@Dojaycat3 жыл бұрын
@@HobieWanKenobi I definitely have found the same, but generally not on a straight pull. In my experience, the line just becomes increasingly brittle
@HobieWanKenobi3 жыл бұрын
That's why I like mono or flurocarbon. I think the different molecules in hybrid lines react to the cold differently so, the integrity of the line is altered. That is from my experience, not scientifically proven.

I've been using Troutist Darkness exclusively for about two years. I like it pretty good, but I switched from FC Sniper Invisible so maybe I'm biased toward Sunline. The stretch is noticable, but nothing unfishable.
@HobieWanKenobi3 жыл бұрын
I like Sunline too. I have used Sniper and Shooter quite a bit. I tried their Area Troutist line that is orange and black/smoke colored. I didn't care for it too much.
@OlExtraRegularBass3 жыл бұрын
@@HobieWanKenobi Yeah, the darkness is a bit hard to see because it's that smoke color, but I'm used to it. I never really have an issue because most rivers that hold trout near me are very clear.

All the Super Trout Advance mono lines are similar. The differences are small but, noticable for the attribute you are going for. Knot strength I never had an issue for with any of the lines. Abrasion, Twitch master MIGHT be slightly better than the standard Super Trout Advance mono but, idk.

What length of the bfs rod would you suggest for stream fishing ( creeks are up to 20 feet wide, in most cases 15 and smaller ) Options I found in Japan so far are 3’11” really nice small production ros, 4’ 2” (Shimano) 4’6” ( Daiwa glass).

New into bfs trout fishing here. What’s the benefit of low stretch mono over fluorocarbon, such as the fc sniper or the Daiwa J-fluoro, etc. Also, have you had any experience with the Sunline Troutist Darkness? Supposedly it’s low stretch as well.
@HobieWanKenobi3 жыл бұрын
The lower stretch make it easier to work minnow style lures in current. When there is too much stretch, it is more difficult to get action from twitching style lures. Twitch Master still floats and handles better (less memory) than flurocarbon. I have used Sunline bass and trout lines. I haven't used the Troutist Darkness.

Thank you sir...I love watching your videos man I'm a bfs freak. I put my shimano curado bfs on an Ark Genesis ML casting rod and the rod is rated down to 1/32 of an oz. It's a bass rod through and through, it is light sensitive and I feel like it loads light lures fairly well. I would like to see what your opinions are on that rod and how you think it loads those light lures. It does pretty good with a eurotackle 1/16oz jig head and eurotube.
@HobieWanKenobi2 жыл бұрын
I haven't used that rod. A ML rated to 1/32oz seems odd. Does it have a solid carbon tip?
@davidohlert47542 жыл бұрын
Yea I agree a ML rated down to 1/32oz is odd. I searched far and wide through the limited vastness of America's online shopping availability of bfs rods or something capable and was able to find this rod. It doesn't have a solid tip but it does have a thin tip that tapers I think very nicely down to a pretty nice backbone. It weighs in at 115g and the curado bfs balances really good with it. I couldn't find much reviews or info about it at least on the ML. It's a two piece rod that feels like a one piece rod is feels good in hand and is nice and sensitive.
@davidohlert47542 жыл бұрын
@@HobieWanKenobi you should check it out. I got it on Ark rods website it's not available at tackle warehouse. Another rod I'm going to be picking up is the legit design wild side 6'4 bfs rod. Have you heard of those?
