Here in Minnesota we have ferocious mosquitoes. When our house was built and screening in the porch, they recommended screening under the floor to keep bugs out. It really works!

Used to vacation in MN. Every night mom would make everyone stay in the cabin and not open the doors after a certain time, then spray for mosquitoes. Even still you would wake up with the scariest sound you could ever hear in your ear…the unseen nighttime mosquito.

Melissa, have you considered getting a French Door oven put into your kitchen? They are fabulous. No reaching over a hot door that flipped down, more room to work in and around your oven and they look really stylish and easier to keep clean. They vary in price from "Holy Crap"down to "I can make that work". If you are considering chickens, the coops on wheels are ideal so you can move your chickens around your property so they get fresh ground and they don't wear down and ruin the earth in one spot. It's also healthier for the birds. If you get chickens, get one goose as well. The goose will be the guard system.

I waited 5 years to get those "windows" for my porch to keep the rain out. I live in Florida and the porch is also screened. They get filmy fast and are hard to maintain, also they are harder to slide open or shut after a time, I know not why. You're not supposed to Oil the rails. I sprayed mine with dish soap solution to clean them and hosed them out. Good for a month or so. The manufacturer states not to use any cleaner on the "plastic" just warm water and buff, lots of work and much hard than a glass window to clean and I can never get them to look like new. I still like them for the rainy days. It's sort of like a slightly "Frosted" look. LOL Those at that show may be a different, better product; mine are EZE-BREEZE. Love your new home and I'm very happy for your family. Be well.

The gate is a must. Keeping honest people out as well as larger wildlife. It will also keep chewy safer. Dishonest people will always find a way in if that is their desire. That screened in room should also be at the top of your list as well. Since you only have 2 months of summer, it will let you enjoy the outdoors all year. Since Alexander is so talented he might be able to build the gardening shed (or potting shed, which is what we call them in the southern u.s.). You should also price them at lowes or home depot, they would probably be less expensive. You should also check at these stores for a gate. They provide installation as well. I love these shows for inspiration, however they are on the expensive side for the actual products. Thanks for taking us along today. I enjoyed it immensely.

I went to the Indiana Flower and Patio show not long ago. We have a separate home show. This one looked just like a home show. I hope the people at each booth aren't as pushy as those here. I didn't notice any gardens set up. We have multiple landscape companies that set up actual mini landscapes. I did like the globe fire pit. it looked cool. Alexander you always go see Austin and "borrow" his bobcat or at least get lessons. :-)

Alex, do you remember the "PersonalFX" program that aired on Fox during the 90's? They toured the homes of various "super collectors" throughout The US and Canada and did on-stage appraisals. It would be cool if you could locate some of those people and make update videos. Some of the most AMAZING collections I've ever seen in my life on that show.

Hmm... no gardens at the Garden show? You need to have a pond built with a water fall and add koi fish (not goldfish). I loved our garden shows because they build ponds inside the building and did landscaping around them. They also had patios with gas fireplaces that were really nice.

The tractory bulldozer type vehicle you want Austin Tischler has one if you watch his video he has lots of fun with his moving stuff around .. We bought 4 hectares (10 acres) last year to retire on next year and the first thing my husband bought for the property was a John Deer zero turn mower it's great and sooo fast they go up to 11km/hr lots of fun. Here in Australia it was a few month wait to buy one but worth the wait.

I've been using one of those safety razors for about 10 years now and it works great! I'm kind of a cheapskate and you can easily get blades for under 20 cents each. So I get a good shave don't spend a fortune. WIN! There are differences in the handles though, some of them hold the blades at slightly different angles or expose more blade or something and they feel a bit too aggressive to me. I like a close shave but I'd prefer to leave all the skin in tact. So if you decide to try one out and see mention of mild, neutral, or aggressive, that's what it's talking about. I prefer a neutral one
