With a custom one off engine there always will be teething problems to sort out but what an AWESOME idea a V8 ride on mower not just any V8 HANDMADE V8 No Less!!!! LOVE to hear it run!!!! Sorting out everything intake/exhaust/cooling getting it to run right that is the hard part!!!!

Definitely need some tins on that thing for cooling or it needs to be in a faster moving vehicle. Air cooled bikes are not meant to sit and idle around all day. A mower won't live without the starter shroud and tins too long either.

Not to mention it was also running lean, generating even more heat. Manifold design may be an issue, where the furthermost cylinders from the carburettor may get less fuel.

it might help were the camshafts are actully make 4 more gears with teeth cut outs so it acts like a oil pump of course its a splash system might work well feeding the engine with oil

@@steveblottenberger1097 GY6 parts are a good start point for homemade engines! The engine builded it still has the 39mm GY6 piston. Light, nice piston rings and oil scraper rings.

Each cylinder was designed to have a flywheel with a fan,so you are going to need 8flywheel fans worth of air to cool the cylinders ,the little radiator is not adequate for cooling.they were not designed to be liquid cooled (hence the cooling fins) you need to build a shroud around them and force air in-between the cylinders fins.

See the shroud cover around the spare engine that you showed at the end of the video ,replicate that on you engine and that will fix your issue with cooling.

I enjoy the videos. I just have one question.. I'm wandering what it doesn't sound like a traditional flathead v8?, I understand that it's a similar displacement to the early flathead v8 but it sounds like the firing order is different or something. Kind of sounds like a v4. It also sounds like it may be starving for air as well. Idk but I enjoy learning with you.
@michaelpoole5995 Жыл бұрын
It has a flat plane crank so the firing order is different
@Desmouffe Жыл бұрын
It is a bit smaller then a Ford V8. Only 1200cc. And the crankshaft have the crankpins placed R,L,L,R. The Ford V8 is R,L,R,L. That gives a unusual firing order.
@neolerades2987 Жыл бұрын
How is a crankshaft made? From the sound of it, it seems like they are arranged on a flatplane, the real V8s have a crossplane. 🤔
