I'm a die-hard, born again christian now. Been one for about 25 years now. I'll be 45 in April. But I wasn't raised a christian and had a weird upbringing. Couldn't tell you who got what from the dinner table because we only ate microwaved food on tv trays. I'm a big believer in Christ now, lookin to start a family with my wife now (better late than never) and I plan on us eating at the dinner table with the Cowboy's recipes and praising God for every bite! Absolutely love the show! God bless brother! You bring a lot of joy to me and I try to share it whenever and however I can!

I was taught to cut up chicken what my dad called restaurant style in the mid sixties. We had a small grocery store in the Missouri Ozarks. The chicken ended up 2 legs, 2 thighs, 2 wings, 2 back pieces the tail and the neck side, 2 breast pieces and then the pulley bone part of the breast. Hadn’t heard that in years it was always my favorite part. Kent you were talking about cross contamination the food police would have had a heart attack back then. We cut everything pork, beef, chicken and venison during deer season on the same big wood butcher block. Just scraped it down in between and continued on. Each night it was covered with salt and scraped down again the next day before starting again. How things have changed. Haven’t heard of canned chicken either in years but remember mom and dad having Swanson can whole chicken on the shelf to sell. You said in the beginning about Marie Calanders (sp) in the beginning don’t remember those but definitely remember Banquet pot pies. Moms didn’t have a recipe for pot pie it was whatever was in the icebox and most of the time just had canned biscuits on top. That looks so fantastic to this old country boy. Tell Shan it’s never to much butter lol.

Hi from Brussels (Belgium Europe), Kent you are a master. You look cool and effortless...but , as a trainee cooker, I can see that you are a professional cook. Really. And you cook not in a professional kitchen! Your tip and tricks are scientifically right. Look how he fries first the vegetables, next the mushrooms (gives water) next the garlic, and how he manages to cook the outer crust of the pie! Respect. Folks, please respect and follow the recipes as he explains,Kent really knows the world of cooking (when to "singer" (technical french term for adding flower), when to first cook the meat and (!) use the grease that comes from lard or whatever to cook other ingredients (vegetables, meant). I have even tried is Cowboy coffee method, even if here we say "Boiled coffee, spoiled coffee"... and it works! Great coffee, smooth and tasty (OK here I double the amount of coffee). Congratulations and thanks for your channel. Kind regards Pedro (Brussels).

My Mom made homemade chicken pot pie from scratch at least once every couple months. My mom had only cast iron skillets. Most of her pots and pans were stainless steel but not her skillets. When I was young you could only buy whole chicken and she bought the biggest available cause she was feeding a family of six (4 growing boys). She didn't cut it up the way chicken is cut up these days. Pieces were mostly separated at the joints. I still eat fried gizzards and livers to this day.

Now that's what I call a pot pie! Brought back memories of when I was young and broke all the time, those Banquet pot pies were pretty good at 10 for a dollar. I sure like you're version better, thanks for passing it along. I just need to figure out how to make it cook itself while I'm out ice fishing, sure would be good after a day on the ice.

Hi Kent, Love to watch your videos and I truly do appreciate your ending remarks thanking the military veterans and active service personnel. It’s a lot better than being called a baby killer and spit at in New Haven, Ct. back in the early 1970s ! Thanks, Kent

If you add more cooked vegs to Marie Callendar after it’s done, it really improves the pie.

I love watching your videos , always so positive and amazing recipes. Thank you for honoring our veterans I had allergies as a kid, so couldn't eat chicken or beef. But a cousin always got the pully bone, and we'd pull it. I usually got the part that said I got my wish 🤞

I like your idea. The saving of neck and back in the freezer is my way as well. My wife wanted to throw them away but was happy when we canned a substantial amount of chicken broth (stock) for later. The chicken pot pie is a great way to use the smoked and spatch-cock chicken. Fun to eat too. Be Well.
