I made these bars with chocolate protein powder (cause it's all I had) and holy cow were they good. My kids couldn't get enough of them. Definitely making them again.

I have recently found your channel and legit BINGE watched just about everything, . (I'm not done yet) I love it. You have given me hope and inspiration for this winter. My hubs has a seasonal job where his hours are cut or non existent in the winter. This has helped me see ways I can feed my little family of 4 without spending a small fortune. Thank you again! Also those bars look AHH-MAZING

Don’t microwave your raw honey! Next time place the jar in a pan of hot water and let it come back to a liquid state. Thanks for the recipe! I look forward to trying it. ❤️, Your Beekeeping Viewer

@Jennifer Mitchell Thank you, I was going to say the same thing. Even better, scoop out as much honey as you think you will need and then gently heat it in a pot of water. Do not boil! You are cancelling out all the benefits of the raw honey when you nuke or overheat the honey. So sad. I'm not a beekeeper, I am a longstanding customer of a local beekeeper who has shared much of his bee knowledge with me

@@Iheart2cook you put the honey into the water or use a separate container and place in the water when you've scooped it out?

Haylee Perez as long as you're not overheating the honey and you're only very gently warming it, you can keep the honey in it's original bottle.

TFS! My hubby was a beekeeper for 10 years so no store bought honey for me for a long time. But his heart doctor won't let him do it anymore and we have a hard time finding local honey. We did buy some from a beekeeper in our subdivision but he charged $24.00 for 1 pint jar. Now that may be an okay price IDK, but my husband sold his at a more reasonable price. It was just a hobby for him though. TIP,: get a tiny spatula to help get that peanut butter from the jar, it will get every bit! 😊

Christine, I have a budget question for you - when you purchase items like honey, protein powder and supplement and such on Amazon, how does that work into your grocery budget? Is that separate? I have one chunk of money I use for food and household all in one chunk so when I see others spending $200 or whatever on groceries, it confuses me and makes me feel like I'm not doing really well, but I frequently find out they have other budgets for these items. Thanks for your help!
@FrugalFitMom
@FrugalFitMom 4 жыл бұрын
My Amazon purchases come from a household budget, which is about $150 a month or so. Some months I spend nothing, and other months is closer to $200. Actually, I would say MOST months I spend nothing. This month I spent about $150 at Sam's getting bleach, dishwasher soap, and other household items. And then I won't need anything for several months again.

If you "nuke it" it's not raw anymore! Put it over hot water to melt the crystals. But don't cook it, then it is not raw anymore. Anyway, the bars look mouthwatering and I will try it.

Is it safe to use the microwave on honey? I heard youre not supposed to put honey in the microwave if it crystallizes cuz itll cause it to grow bacteria or something, but to put the jar in hot water to smooth it back out. Im gonna be upset if i just wasted money by throwing away 2 jars of honey thinking i couldnt use the microwave lol (the water trick didnt work so i tossed em) These pb bars look good!
@desertfamilyhomestead3127
@desertfamilyhomestead3127 4 жыл бұрын
If you put them in the sun it will liquidise it again. Never, ever throw away honey it doesn't go bad. You should never microwave honey because it removes the nutrients from it. You can put the jar in boiling water, but only do it in small increments, because the more you do that the more processed it becomes.

As someone who is a beekeeper NEVER put it in the microwave! You are killing all the enzyme benefits that the raw honey has and essentially pasteurizing it. I suggest a double boiler on really low heat just until the honey starts to loosen up. Doing it this way at a low temp allows the honey to retain all the raw goodness.
