Great videos Tony! Please keep them coming. My Helix has 106,000 miles on it and I am the only only that has ever worked on it. My 27 year old Helix service manual is well used and has greasy finger prints on nearly every page.

Do you know the rear wheel nut torque?
@1tonysgarage6 ай бұрын
@ericrotermund1004 it’s in the manual I just use a impact wrench couple of bump with it. You can go to Honda helix group on Facebook and download the the manual in the files tab

When reinstalling the wheel be sure to get the big nut really tight - the service manual recommends 80 lb-ft of torque. If you don't, the nut will loosen and come off - but the wheel will fortunately stay on. This happened to me. A sign that the nut is loosening is that the rear brake will require more pedal force and the wheel will have lots of play or wobble.

Hello Tony . Thanks for the videos , they're very useful , and they're the only reference that we can get to be able to fix these old bikes here where I live . I have a stupid question regarding the rear wheel nut . Does it suppose to rotate (the nut) along with the wheel when the bike is runnig ?? I've just bought a used 1992 honda elite ch 250 , but found that he outer washer that goes behind the nut is missing down there , and looking at the splined axle that rotate the wheel , it does look like that's the case . Is that right ? I've told you that this is stupid crazy question . Thanks . Cheer from Argentina .

I have used a 3 jaw puller before.

OH! What about pulling the lower pin on the other shock? Then the rear axle would HOPEFULLY drop down lower.

Will that helix swing arm fit a CH250? I have a Helix exhaust on it and it looks really half ass the way i have it hooked up without the right swing arm for it. shock mount looks to be same as 85 - 88 Elite 250 "CH250" but this swing arm has the proper mount for exhaust for it.

Hi Tony, I bought a helix that has the back brake light on all the time. The previous owner did fiddle with the foot brake, any suggestions? thanks for the help.

Under the hump center plastic piece there is the switch try adjusting that the video I have that says running tach signal wire will show u how to take off hump piece
@FreddyFunderbunz2 жыл бұрын
Find the switch that makes the light come on. I had the same problem when I adjusted my rear brakes a little too tight. I backed the adjuster off a little bit and the light went back to normal

You just have to deflate it last time he did it. His tire was probably lower and no air pressure

Who knew there was so much involved in just taking the rear tire off, holy crap! So will you change the tire yourself, or will you take it to the Honda shop and have them do it?
@1tonysgarage3 жыл бұрын
I did it myself at the shop I work at. I’m a mechanic

@@1tonysgarage do you think tire replacement is a job a beginner could do at home, or is it too specialized? When I replaced the front tire I took off the front wheel (and rebuilt the brake master cylinder) but brought the wheel to the dealership to have them replace the tire.
@1tonysgarage2 жыл бұрын

All you need is some good tools and guts enough to try. But on the other hand, there is no shame in paying a professional to do what your not comfortable with.

The shock doesn’t need to be removed. Leave the top bolt. The tire will come out. Let the air out to make it easier, but I never do. I’ve been changing my Helix tires for twenty-seven years. My comment is not to be a smart ass. I’m only trying to help honestly.
@1tonysgarage2 жыл бұрын
Ya I figured it out thanks
@carlrutledge3096 Жыл бұрын
I took mine off without removing the shock, but my bridgestone street tires seem a little smoother and narrower than Tony's, so maybe that explains it. The knobs on his tires may make it tougher to remove.
@redbaron4742 жыл бұрын
2:39 - 3:09 lol, kind of surprised you didn't start cussing. There's got to be a way to do it without having to remove the shock - maybe by using a couple of ratchet straps to both lift and compress it?
@1tonysgarage2 жыл бұрын
Ya u don’t have to remove the shock I just didn’t have it angled right lol and it’s easier when u let some air out also
@joshwinkleman67632 жыл бұрын
You don't have to remove it you just have to fiddle with it
