I've been using the regular magic circle for years and had never thought about doing a double. Thanks for this tutorial, one is never too old to try something new. Just to emphasise what is being said here - leave long tails, weave in ends, and weave them in securely, minimum 3 ways.
@Kimbermoi4 жыл бұрын
Okay, now I'm terrified for all of my previous projects that used the magic ring. I've never had them come apart simply because I weave in the end, which only makes sense. Now I'm afraid they are still going spontaneously all fall apart at once! LOL Thanks for the video. 🙋♀️💞🤗

I love the magic ring and never use the chain method. I’m a big time weaver of ends, though. I do the three time method (forward, backward and forward again). I have used the double magic ring a time or two. I really should make that a habit. Better safe, than sorry. You did a great job explaining and showing the method. 👍 Hope you and yours are safe and well.

This is the method that I learned several years ago to make the centre of crochet popcorn flowers for a throw. The first ones were a bit fiddly & I pulled on the wrong strand a few times 😰 -but I quickly gained confidence and now use this method exclusively for going in the round. Love your tutorial... As always, you explain things so well with good camera angles 👌🏼

Ahhhhh, thank you so much, Robin! Once again, you prove yourself a skilled, knowledgeable, and excellent teacher. I'm making a nylon doily to hang on my front door, and the regular magic loop just doesn't cut it. (As much as I love nylon thread and yarn for certain applications, it's the very devil to work with. Even cuts my fingers if I'm not careful. Love hurts.) Magic loops are absolutely integral to my use of crochet. I cannot work or design without them, to the point that I will modify existing patterns to use them wherever possible. If I ever start selling independent patterns, magic loop haters will descent upon my quiet suburban apartment complex with torches and pitchforks. (I really hope the inevitable smoke and blood come out of the carpet. My deposit can't take an angry mob.)

oh my gosh, SUCCESS !! i really struggle with the magic ring because it can be really frustrating to make and throw off my tension. i'd also heard that magic rings can come undone, so i figured if i ever needed to learn it, i might as well make a double magic ring. and now i've done it !! it was a bit confusing figuring out which loop was which, but i did it, and it tightened so cleanly, and now it's done, and i'm so excited !! i will be coming back to this video many times until it becomes second nature, like making a slipknot. thank you !!!!

I’ve wasted so much time and yarn trying to make pretty daisy granny squares. All of my magic circles get sloppy by the time I finish the petals. It’s been driving me insane. I’ve tried different yarns, different hooks, more tension, less tension and using the chain method. This worked the very first time! I have all 12 petals on this daisy and the magic ring is still intact. I’m going to frame it. Thank you!

I love this method of making magic rings (like, the way you explained it in general, not specifically because of it being the double stranded one)! It's so much easier than any way I've seen it done before. I always get confused which way to lay the strands of yarn to make it so that you can actually pull it tight with the tail at the end. And this makes it so simple to understand with the way you just have it crossed over and looped around your fingers. I haven't used the double magic ring enough to know if I prefer that or single yet, but I'm looking forward to trying them both out more using the method you've shown here. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you. just found that caron 'almond' big cake on sale at Michaels for $5.00. Yippie. i really liked. your tutorial & pretty blanket. course i had to buy more colors because of price. You make it so simple to understand, after having several unsuccessful attempts from other channels I’ve mastered the “magick” ring. 😊. I worked on an up cycling project a while ago. I made skirt and bodice front from ironing plastic bags together with tissue paper and free machine embroidery over the top. My friend made the back of the bodice with Freeform crochet, it had lots of loopy chains and circles. I can see exactly how she made it now. Strangely I find crochet like making patterns on square paper by colouring in blocks. Is this something you use to create yours?
