I FINALLY found a 51.4mm XPW cylinder now I’m waiting on a oem piston because go figure Husqvarna made even the piston obsolete but I found one so I can’t wait to get it put on and get back to cutting.

Evening Jack, as all of us know there is a heap of "fast" saws out there and some by some very good builders, however, there are very few real and proper work saws out there that can do a real days work day in day out like yours can and after spending some hard earned cash they will deliver the goods without fail.

Outinthewood... this is the truth, they run stronger than others that I have been around, but where they separate themselves is the longevity and reliability. That really speaks to the quality of the build in my opinion.

The numbers don't lie, for sure, but my senses sure prefer the sound and look of that orange saw! Good to see you have continuing saw work! Cheers Jack!

it's impressive as to how much those 461's come around after you do your magic to them. it was plain as day it smoked both other saws without question.

Thank you all three nice saws...but pound for pound I'm still partial to the 044/440....pound less about not allot less power...and usually good on fuel..great mid size saw for fire fighting and land saw...still my my favorite....liked the 038 series for mid size.. mag 1 and 2 great in the day....have 34 ...461 in service right now...okay...but heavy and hard on fuel...440 get about 45 minutes cutting if you keep your chain sharp...461 allot less time on a tank.....very important to us... right now we are band from buying Stihl have been for a year or so cuz of the spraying issues out of the flip caps....husqvarna new flip caps...much better engineered can let pressure off without spraying you like Stihl....yes thank you for showing all those saws....what type of wood were you cutting, looked to be Cotton Junk....take care and god bless.R

The 440 is a beast! Lots of low end in this one. Broken in it's the 461 torque monster's little brother...it's a little dog with a big bite.

What’s the smallest or lightest saw you think is up to the daily task of professional logging and felling- typical Sierra Nevada trees, not monster redwoods? Have you had experience working on the “knock off” Stihl saws? Are they worth sending to you for modification?
@hotsaws1014 жыл бұрын
DL R hi. What is the wood size? Since there is not typical from what I've seen over there. What is the bar length? Which chain? What elevations? Zipped, stocker? Nope. I'm not a phan. The plating is thin and flakes. The bores can be out of round, tapered, hourglass shaped, plating doesn't go all the way to the top and/or any and all of the above. I'm pretty picky about quality. Thanks for watching.

hotsaws101- I see 16-24” at the stump 28-30” bar- much shorter and bucking becomes a task. Typically I run a Oregon Full Chisel chain. But could switch if their is something that cuts easier. I have an 066 that I use regularly but was wondering about a lighter saw to meet my needs. If I could go even lighter and have it modified to perform that would be good. As my age increases, I’m thinking a lighter workhorse would be nice. Leave the 066 as a secondary/backup. I’ll stay away from the knock offs. Thx

DL R hi. There are a number of sawing comparisons on this channel for reference. I'm not sure if your a busheler which is a consideration for me since that is my background. You talked about Stihl so I went down that road. You might consider a 461 if all out stumping power is what you want. They can be made to lay waste to a stock 660/661s. They are around a pound and a half less than the 660 which is about the same as the 661s. The 462s are around a pound and a half to two pounds lighter than a 461 depending upon the configuration but lack the lowend grunt. They can be made to run about the same to a little better than the 660/661s altough I'm still working on the process. Assuming you are working at elevation based on the Sierra Nevada-s location. There is more potential for power in the 461 as well - especially if killing trees while high in the sky. I have one of each. I cannot say the 462 is a foolhardy investment for some applications. I'm going down the chain road in The Faller's Corner sequence currently. I'm going to touch on their attributes based on my experience. It might be a few months until I get to answering your question specifically. Might drop me a note there. Thanks.

you need a jig on the handle, that will hold your rpm reader. then you dont need someone standing there next to you holding it. ive zipped tied them on before. you can also use a spring clamp to hold them on. mweba does it like that. I dont use rpm readers anymore, too much revving of the saw. i just turn the H screw out about 2 turns, or more, making sure it runs completly fat, rich, will barely make a cut. i then just simply turn the H screw in tiny increments at a time and then try and make a cut, the saw will still be running pretty rich, tiny increment in on the H screw, try make a cut, kinda of starts coming out of running blubery, just tiny increments in, clockwise, on the H screw then make another cut. I do that till the saw starts cutting, and sounding, where I want it. that way the saw will be at its richest point when cutting.

Hey Jack just wondering what your opinion is on the Cannon superbars I bought one a year ago for my ms460 mag and personally I think it is way better then a factory Stihl bar. Just wondering if you have ever used one and what you're opinion is on the Cannon bar. I have done a little modification to my Ms 460 and it turns the 34 inch bar pretty good. I hand file my chains and I did get a little aggressive when I nocked the rakers down but all in all just curious what you think of the Cannon superbars.

Hi hotsaws101 I've got makita EA7900 if I remove kat from muffler do I need to set up carburator or not? I belive it is set up fabric on 12.800 rpm the old model DCS is on 13.500 is it ok for me to rev on 13.500 would that be a problem with durability of the saw? Greetings from Slovenia!
@hotsaws1014 жыл бұрын
sladan23 hi. I've only seen the SLR tube in the mufflers. No catalytic converter as of yet. It depends upon where it was set before you remove the guts. Maybe, maybe not. Most likely, yes. If you have one of the new version limited coils you may only see 12,500 max since they changed the coil with the new saw model. I have not seen a EA7900 from you country to know what your country actually receives. As far as IF you can run one that high and have it live, it will depend upon a few things like mix oil & general maintenance, jetting set up, etc, etc. Should it, yes. As long as your doing your part in taking care it the saw and operations. Thanks for watching.
