ISTPs ONLY care about the people they like! Also ISTP has lots of internal conflicts. Like ISTP wants to help people, but at the same time they "stupid zone" a lot of people. ISTP wants to feel liked by people, but at the same they dislike most people and mess up on social situations by not careing and usually beeing a brick wall emotionally. However ISTP can however NOT be emotionally manipulated by people they have "stupid zoned!" or otherwise dislike. One would have to be liked first to manipulate ISTP emotionally. - ISTP

That part where you were talking about how ISTPs have poor memories and only remember what they think is important made me laugh because I just had an argument with my sister the other day where she was trying to tell me my memory was as bad as hers and I was being stubborn and telling her that my memory was a lot better than hers, but then she pulled up a whole list of times I forgot something and I was forced to admit that my memory was bad. To save face, I said "why would I want to remember something if it's not important to me?"

The part of this that was 100% right for me (ISTP) was when you said that ISTPs essentially live by the motto "If you want something done right, do it yourself". YES. 1000x yes! I have uttered this phrase sooo many times. This is such a problem any time I have to "teach" anyone (like, my children for example) how to do something. I really, really have to try to resist the urge to be like, "you're doing it wrong. Here, I'll just do it myself." lol I guess I'm better at teaching by showing/doing, rather than teaching by describing. Funny you should say that spouses of ISTPs should make a record of every time they forget something. I actually have a file on my computer recording every time my husband (INTJ) admits he was wrong about something, hahaha.

Another thing that helped me see myself as ESTP is that looking at my past, I look it through logic lents, like what I could have done better and what not, not feelings senses or whatever... Another big for me is that you cannot convince me of something unless you show me people that have done that or are doing it. And that's only in 11 minutes, let's keep watching.

Awesome point about feeding children drugs to get them to conform to "proper" behavior. I think substance abuse in general is due to people not understanding their personality type because they have be taught by society that their personality type is not valued. As a result they have to use substances to suppress who they are. The result is a malformed adult. A constant cycle of rinse and repeat. Are there any studies that have been done with children who are taught specifically according to their personality types? This subject intrigues me because I am convinced we have generations of very intelligent people that are wasting their lives because they have been basically railroad by the education system due to their "undesirable" personality types.

I took one of those free Myers Briggs tests online and I was very decisively STP, but almost 50/50 between introversion and extroversion, edging slightly into ESTP. With a margin of error, I still could be either. So this is a great video. Thanks! I just watched the part about “If you’re unsure of what you want vs always get what you want,” I can relate to both. I didn’t know why I wanted as far as relationships went for a long time, but got married eventually (still realizing the cognitive dissonance didn’t go away with it). I didn’t know what I wanted to do for the longest time and didn’t set out a defined career path early on. I’ve jumped around trying to find my niche. I’ve always been entrepreneurially minded for the freedom aspect. Then I went back to school to maybe look at the safe career path. Got my MBA. It only reinforced that typical corporate jobs sucked and I had to be an entrepreneur. The last 4 or so years I was focused on finding the right business. I jumped through all the hoops to get it, but I bought a business and it’s going great, and I also started another business that is turning into a success, growing like a wildfire. But that’s the vision and executing that vision coming into play. Perhaps I’m realizing that I’m dealing with the pros and cons of both, and learning how to structure my life in a way that my specific personality can see some success.

Absolutely incredible! I don't know whether to be irritated by your repetitive critiques of other ISTPs or to admire your observations and appreciation for what ISTPs do offer. I can't imagine you getting "stupid zoned," by any rational person, but it may be because you just use your intelligence differently and you ENTPs tend to be so obsessed with the theoretical while not seeing what's right in front of you. For me personally, I don't think that people are stupid per se, they are just too often misinformed and seemingly okay with it, and some have the nerve to think they're actually right and debate with us. There just has to be an insightful ISTP around for every situation that requires a lot of cause and effect decisions or the world just may get blown up. I don't trust others to really think things through especially when their actions affect me, but I wouldn't say they're stupid. Just many times, arrogantly wrong. Can you blame me?

I think the big problem in my life is that I’m terrified of making a choice and I’m terrified of making a bad choice. Definitely finding the ESTP description relatable, however, I’m not athletic and I spend most of my time gathering information. Is that Se? I’m in between friend groups right now and since I don’t have anyone to hang out with I just want to gather info, hence my mbti addiction. I make decisions with logic and I thrive at debate but I hate abstract discussions that don’t lead anywhere. Which function am I falling into there? When the cops show up, you're outside watching the shitshow and feeling good about you ESTP competence. Sound like a plan?

So there’s a huge difference between “remembering everything” like an ISTP, and an ISTP being forgetful. In the case of a movie, for example: An ISTP is going to remember the overarching plot and maybe spoil something that you forgot; but they’re not going be able to recite the dialogue scene by scene (unless they have a really motivating reason to).
@beingsomeone201 Жыл бұрын
Exactly, but that does not mean the movies are bad, thats why it takes time to entp for choosing any movie cz entp will be remembering 60% concept of that movie and some how connecting those lines while talking with people...i found it refreshing while making people felt good in that way just by talking...❤

I know an STP that gets annoyed with me when I delay meeting up with him due to helping someone out with something or some type of inconvenience. When I explain to him what happens he sometimes shows me that he's annoyed by saying "I was waiting for you" and hell either get over it and we'll hang out or hell mention it again later. Why does he do this at times and how should I do in response?

Im an ISTP but do have pretty strong morals although others might view my actions as questionable at times. My father was an ESTP and my daughter as well yet he didn't like to leave the house and was pretty much like Jack Nicholsons double in every sense and the apple doesn't fall far from the tree there. Can an extroverted type be introverted?
@Musician8373 жыл бұрын
I am ENFP and if I remember correctly, is considered the most introverted of the extrovert types. One good way I can tell that I still an extrovert but sometimes feel like an introvert is that I generally enjoy being an extrovert, my introversion tendencies only show when someone more extroverted than I am overwhelms me too much, then I could use some alone time or space.

I have a brain like a sieve and it's easier to make a decision when it's one I've already made before than it is to come up with a new decision for something as simple as "what to eat". Or copy what someone else did than think up my own way of doing something. Also. ESTP nightmares: going to a huge buffet where all the plates are little pie plates, and you're only alloted a short amount of time to eat there.

Try looking at what you struggle with more so than your strengths and it will definitely be easier if you haven't already. ESTP's can definitely take on a I don't care type of feel like ISTP's but you and most close other's around will really know what your real struggles are if focused enough on it and call you out on it (immediately). As far as strengths goes ESTP's (act 1st and analyze actions afterwards) whereas ISTP's analyze 1st than act soon after "most of the time". Most people get confused cause ISTP's seem action first as well but we're not. Most cases if you caught me in action is because the thought process already happened however how long ago. Sounds the same but it's not I assure you. Disrespect my cousin (ESTP) and you're most likely will get danced on but disrespect me and I'll have some fun with you (verbally) with the goal of making you feel stupid before ever deciding to dance... unless I must than no problem, hope this helped.

its weird because i read out a summary of the communication styles to my brother and he related the most to finisher, hes deeefinitely direct and when i asked questions leading to control/movement he answered in favour of movement?? but ive always thought he was an estp (although could be istp) and from this video, although i havent watched all of it yet, he still seems like an estp so far... and while hes not the most extraverted, he seems initiating? or at the very least responding with no problem initiating... so confusing jdjdjjs ill see what i think after finishing the video though

This is all pretty fucking accurate but the only thing I disagree with as an ISTP is the mentorship thing, I do love mentoring people and coaching them about stuff that I myself mastered, it's one of the things that brings me the most satisfaction in life but I disagree with the fact that we like mentoring a group of people at once, I'd rather mentor people one by one. Focus on one person, and make them extremely good at that one skill. Rather than focusing on lot of people at the same time and risking having no one of them reaching the status of true mastery. It's just not efficient enough in my book, therefore it's not something I'd be interested to do. I believe ISTPs see mentorship the same way as polishing a sword. An ISTP would rather have one sword that is super extra sharp and efficient than multiple swords that are only average performance wise. The saying "Quality over quantity" probably originated from an ISTP.
@CSJoseph5 жыл бұрын
wait why do you disagree? Because I agree with you.

I have the failure to launch syndrome. But once I start my mind won't allow me to rest until I finish. Sometimes i continuously spend 16-18 hours a day working on stuff till I feel panic. Regarding the building process I build as I go. I quickly learn a new skill to implement the idea or end goal I want to achieve. And if not used for long I tend to forget skills.(kinda jack of all trades master of none) I know what I want to do - I want to create something that matters. Something that can change the world. I fail to start because of two reasons - 1. I keep on finding new information to fit the model in my head to it's maximum efficiency and realize there is not enough I can do even tho I have no problem creating new tools to help me in the building process 2. After analyzing in my head I find the idea is not grand enough or it's not gonna have impact on maximum population on earth Other than that I create new tools or efficient/simpler versions of existing tools (mostly softwares) all the time but doesn't satisfy my "soul" (whatever that is). I want to create the grand tool Pls bro help me find my type. And also I can relate to most 16 types. I'm tired of analyzing my type over and over again. I need to come to a conclusion which doesn't fckin change whenever I watch a new cs Joseph video. I also had a very traumatic childhood+boyhood with strict parenting and emotional abuse. $20(sorry I'm broke) for anyone accurately typing me with details like what's my ego, shadow etc and how do I know if I'm living in hero or stuck in super ego etc. Thanks

@CSJoseph6 жыл бұрын
What about Si inferior as being insecure over doing things you have never done before? Se inferior is also like performance anxiety. This is why Se inferiors learn to drive later than the other 16 types. Have you looked at the interaction styles and your temperament yet?
@ghlamallahyacine51616 жыл бұрын
Yes i have watched them multiple times and i'm sure i'm an introverted intellectual INTX but don't know about the right Interaction style I thought i was an INTJ because of my obvious Te/Fi functions, but then i remarked that i don't always finish what i start (for example i start writing a story and i'm super happy then i leave it unfinished just bcz i don't see the purpose of it) and i don't have this Ni will power which tell me what i want. I don't know if i'm still young to know with certainty what i want
