While there is nothing wrong with being physically ugly, she is objectively NOT ugly. She feels and thinks she is, probably because she was bullied mercilessly. As she ages and matures, I'm hoping she will feel differently. I was bullied mercilessly all through grade school, middle school, and high school. One boy pretended to ask me out and then immediately walked over to his friends and pointed and laughed at me. My freshman year, some of my male bullies tied me to a flagpole after school and ripped my shirt open to "prove" whether or not I was a girl, because I was so flat-chested and "SHE'S SECRETLY A DUDE" was their favorite narrative to bully me with. I not only graduated high school a virgin, but I had never even been kissed. I'm 30 years old, and I still struggle a bit with my confidence. Most days, I feel decent about my looks, with some bad days sprinkled in. I went from thinking I was hideous and unlovable to feeling confident most days. I'm hoping she will go through the same epiphany I did: That she is NOT ugly, she just had ugly PEOPLE in her life who treated her horribly for one stupid reason or another. I also realized that most of the girls I knew who believed they were ugly were NOT, and THAT made me realize that if all these girls who believe they're ugly are actually pretty, then I might be having the same dysmorphia they are. That mindset also helped with my body as well. I would ask myself "does my stomach shape look bad on this woman?" I would realize it doesn't, so why would it look bad on me? It seems like the older I get, the more I realize I don't know anything about myself. A lot of my perceptions of myself were extremely distorted and just ingrained into me by other people or society. Edit: THIS IS ALSO WHY BULLYING SHOULD BE CRIMINALLY CHARGED, DEPENDING ON THE SEVERITY. IT CAN POTENTIALLY DAMAGE PEOPLE LIFELONG AND CAUSES TEEN SUICIDE TOO OFTEN.

I agree that people in general are often too hard on themselves in terms of looks or other things... Bullying is a very bad thing to do and should be avoided and stopped as much as possible. Some people (mainly girls) sometimes claim that they are ugly to seek attention and acceptance by people telling them otherwise and cheering them up. I think that the girl from the video just has low self-esteem for some reason... That is sad and the best advice I can give is that mental health and being strong mentally is more important than looks. Because even very good looking people struggle with their self worth and perception of themselves... This goes to show that even if you change your face or your looks in general externally, in the long term it might not be enough to satisfy your inner self criticism... So, in my opinion it's better to start with changing the things that we can control more easily, such as good hygiene to look and feel more clean and tidy, etc. All the best to everyone struggling mentally or in any other way... I relate to you so much. I never really got compliments growing up and when I did it was like "your clothes look pretty", it was never that *I* looked pretty. The awkward silence from friends when I say that I feel ugly hurts. I also wear glasses and sometimes I go without them because my face will look more blurry and it's harder to see the real me. I'm not saying it to make you feel better; I think you're objectivelly not ugly. Your face is symmetric (at least in this video it looks like it), you have pretty lips and teeth and overall good facial proportions/harmony. Ugly people usually have bad facial proportions, undeveloped jaw, assymetry etc. I don't have the right to deny your experiences though so I won't do it. I struggle with my own perception of my looks, I grew up bullied and called ugly, and then when I grew up people started calling me attractive, but because of my past experiences I can never 100% believe in what people say and my brain always tells me they're saying things out of pity. I will never know and I will never consider myself attractive, but either ugly or average.

I’m not trying to invalidate the feelings you have but if you don’t want pity then don’t bring up your insecurities and create that negative atmosphere. Everyone struggles with insecurity but their confidence despite those things is what makes them attractive. Just like the girl in this video is NOT ugly and there’s really no such thing. Dude I have been exactly where you are and a lot of days I still feel like that, but trust me this is more of a mental issue than anything and I believe if you had regular therapy it would be a lot better for you. I would take so many pictures of myself in jr high and high school and just obsess over how I looked and cry about it so many times, but now at 25 I’m doing a lot better and I’ve realized it’s not really my body I hate, it’s just there are a lot of internal factors that I need to work on in order to feel at peace, and when I’m having a good day I feel absolutely beautiful. You’re a normal girl and you don’t have to be a super model to feel good about yourself! I never meant to imply she was, but her perception of herself at the time of this video conveyed that she thought she was ugly. The solution to thinking you are ugly isn't to be told that you aren't. It doesn't work. You instead need to find that you should be proud that you are here, breathing, feeling, experiencing. To tell her she isn’t is telling her that her entire life experience is wrong, and everything she’s experienced is in her head. Like I said, it’s not what YOU think as an individual. In terms of what the western world thinks, it’s not that hard to see how she’s been treated so badly for her appearance. I had a humiliating experience last night at a restaurant. I was with my mom and she's in her 50s, not in great shape and dressed her age. She's attractive and me... Here I am in my 20s trying to look cute of course and the 2 waiters we had were hitting on her. One acted like I didn't exist. He didn't even try to acknowledge me as a customer! I felt embarrassed and horrible. My mom tried to make me feel better by saying that maybe they were hitting on her so they could get with me. Yeah no, I'm not dumb 😞

I know it’s stereotypically viewed as a negative trait because of the set beauty standards of symmetry, but I’ve found lots of women attractive who have unique features. Including people with amblyopia and strabismus. People can be absolute garbage about it, but the right person will cherish your features. Not trying to invalidate your experiences btw! I started feeling ugly in 4th grade when we had those square dances in gym class. The teacher paired me up with my crush and I remember being so excited to dance with her. Later that day, I overheard her talking to her friend saying "I really didn't want to dance with him, he just so ugly." I was devastated for years after that. But I needed to understand back then was that doesn't make me ugly to everyone. Everyone's going to have their own opinion about you, But you can't let those opinions dictate your own self worth. Did you feel ugly before you heard something from someone else? I was never repulsed by my face when I looked at myself in the mirror until that day. We both made picking out flaws and calling ourselves ugly a habit. But in reality, they are only intrusive thoughts. Seeing those thoughts for what they are is one step closer to self acceptance. ❤️

As a ugly person who got told being ugly like 7 times and got death threats😊, getting comments on the Internet, that say:"You're pretty" isn't gonna change their appearance or life. My childhood, adolescence and young adulthood was ruined because of being an unattractive girl. Other kids, particularly boys, just loooved to tell me I was ugly, like all the time. I made terrible life choices because my self esteem was in the gutter. If I could go back in time, I would make it my priority as soon as I was an adult to find a way to get surgery. I'm now 34 but I had similar traits to this girl, except the straight teeth with braces. The paleness, dark straight hair, rectangle face shape...and I was considered ugly through high-school and college. Meanwhile I died my hair red, got a bit of color with lip tint and blush and covered by dark eye circles with foundation, and seems like it improved a bit..i was then considered ok-cute. Now, in my 30s make up tricks don't do it anymore. I totally understand where this girl comes from and here are my tips.

Pretty and Ugly is subjective. I see life as a Baskin Robins Ice Cream shop. Every person is 1. A customer who has their favorite flavor of ice cream (flavor= Traits you want in a friend or partner) Every person is also a Tub of Ice Cream. Their personality, experiences, and appearances all make up the unique flavor. There will always be customers that hate the flavor you represent and usually this will happen more often then not. Being ugly ruined my life. Never get same value I gave. Never been loved or never been single date. Never share my pictures because I look bad. I can’t like myself. While other ppl born naturally attractive I am trying so much to just look some good. Not too good just a bit good. As a hairstylist I am so sorry other hairstylists made you feel like “you’re not worth their time” First you absolutely are and second how unprofessional and just plainly rude of them! A customer is a customer no matter their looks or personality or id we like them or not! We’re here to give you the haircut you want and it doesn’t depend on the customer wether or not a hairstylist cut’s good or bad or rushes, that’s on the hairstylist (Sure some haircuts look better in certain faceshapes and so on but you can still cut the hair in a good way…)

I understand this 100000% because I feel like I’m so ugly . I know I’m so ugly! And it hurts because I reallllllyyyyyy wish I was I was beautiful. I have alopecia. I have 2 bald spots on the side of my head . I cry everyday I had a breast augmentation. I’ll Definitely be doing things to my face when I get the money . I'm ugly too, so I can emphasize. I think people do not understand why it is difficult to be ugly. We simply do not want to be beautiful, but we are tired of being bullied for our appearance, something we have not chosen. Ugly is a physical description such as fat, thin, tall, short. There is nothing wrong with being unattractive, so people should not call ugliness beautiful, it is just dishonest and it will hurt the person more. Let me know if you want to be friends and talk.

I know exactly how you feel, self loathing and hating ones self, I'm 25 and it is terrible- love your self- don't let shallow people define you- they want you to feel ugly and identify as ugly because it makes them feel prettier and safer, it take some of the pressure off of them. I know cus I was treated the same way you were for many years, they want to appear more popular and pretty so they bully people and they feel better because they feel they're superior to you or groups of people they deem lame or ugly. They are bullies and I hate them, don't hate yourself-love who u are, btw u really aren't ugly, u have such a nice personality and these bullies and shallow people have gotten in your head and it makes you feel ugly - I have been out of school from these people for 8 years and I still feel upset that they made me feel so bad about myself, like I was ugly and stupid- I'm not ugly or stupid and neither are you

There's nothing wrong with the way you look. Just be yourself. I used to wear make-up all the time when I was in my 20s and 30s. I don't anymore. I get more compliments the older I get about my looks (54 now). Everyone has different tastes. Don't waste your money changing yourself. Some find the fake eyelashes, surgery and tons of makeup attractive. Some like natural looks. The older you get, you usually start to care less about what others think about you. There's so much more to worry about than looks. You'll see. And btw, in my opinion you are a beautiful girl.

you've got that soft spoken cute librarian thing going on that i definitely would have gone for in my 20's. I used to consider myself attractive and my self confidence has gone down over the years as i approach 40. I still feel ok when i look in the mirror and people tell me i still look good, but my own perception of myself is what has changed. So i won't tell you what hundreds of people in the comments already have, it's your own personal journey towards self-acceptance. When ordinary people love themselves and have that glow of confidence they become 20 times more attractive to others. all the best to ya.

Man, society has really got people messed up. You have people like her who really don’t think enough of themselves and then you have people who for some reason think they are gods gift. You really aren’t ugly, really really not, but if you will never have your mind changed about that then try to accept how you feel about yourself and you’ll feel better.
