"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6 Training the super ego, and indeed hard to depart from.

So the super ego simply replays what it’s heard, learned…. good or bad…. simple🧐😉

This is the simplest explanation this is the simplest explanation about how the ego is not the same as intelligence. And also that the ego is simply recordings of an emotional and maybe intellectual nature. I always understood that memory tapes, we're recording self prior memories. He does a very nice job of explaining how the super-ego Taps into those memory tapes. Which is different from actual intelligence. Thank you for this explanation.

in a sense, the superego is detached from selfhood

I TAUGHT MY CHILDREN WHAT THE WORD OF GOD SAYS MY MOTHER TAUGHT ME NOTHING I HAD TO LEARN BY MYSELF I WAS MY OWN TEACHER THAT MAY SOUND STRANGE BUT THATS WHAT IT ALWAYS WAS AND NOW I REALIZE THAT IT WAS GOD WITH ME ALL THE TIME ALL GLORY GOES TO GOD AND TO EVERYONE I WOULD SAY TEACH YOUR CHILD WHAT THE WORD IS SAYING ABOUT GOOD AND BAD

I had a similar experience growing up. I was the youngest of four. I was not really welcomed or positively interacted with by family. I do thank my mother for one lesson though. She introduced me to God and guided me to learn more about Him. I don't know how or where I would be now if she didn't lead me to wisdom, strength and salvation.

Very interesting! Do you think the saying “Boys dont cry” is something carried down predominantly by men themselves or women too? Because I’m hard pressed to find a woman I know who is seriously turned off by a man crying. I’ve always seen it as kind of endearing but ultimately an okay expression of emotion. I worry about men who refuse to openly express emotion. Certain….communities… seem to think women are responsible for the need for stoicism. I’ve always questioned where this notion of it being “bad” for men to cry came from. Thanks for the food for thought!

When a male narc/ bpd uses crying to manipulate and abuse it is definitely not endearing.

It’s carried down by both men and women. The reason it is a thing is because what makes us men is being hard, strong and stoic when we need to be. If a man cries at the slightest inconvenience for example, how is he going to do what’s necessary for survival (evolutionary sense)? It shows weakness. I believe it’s a biological thing to be turned off by a guy crying for women. Personally I used to be very emotional as a teenager, and I’ve become more stoic as I grew into a man. I don’t remember the last time I cried or feel the need to cry, I get my emotions out by talking to myself and going to the gym etc.

@@Getout249 I literally don’t see how crying has any impact on survivability. I cry and multitask all the time lol 😂. I can cry and fight too if I had to! 💪🏻 Harvard Health says: “Researchers have established that crying releases oxytocin and endogenous opioids, also known as endorphins. These feel-good chemicals help ease both physical and emotional pain.Mar 1, 2021” Would you look at that?

@@Getout249 my opinion (as you could probably tell) is that it’s men hyping up other men about “what men should be” that promotes its lineage. Oogachaka. And in this age of narcissism, there are enough women with cptsd to go around and coddle any “unnecessarily” emotional men anyways, right?

I think I was shown too much affection in my youth. It might be the reason why I always have to be liked, always worried about other peoples opinions of me. Looking for in others what my parents gave to me when I was younger.

I mean our life lessons are there too so... not that simple to just toss it aside. when we fail in life and manage to realize there is something that we don't know which is the cause of our loss we become like a child again and open to teachings and whatever answer we satisfy the child with is going to go in there and maybe even replace the old teachings. so there is a good chance that the new super ego is our ultimate defense against our old super ego. as the definition also implies it is the idea of the ideal. and it will manifest when we are super conscious which is not rare at all if you care about yo life. I might be just blabbering tho your choice to use or dump this info.
