Patrick If you ever come back to England you should come and check out Liverpool's gay scene. It's not as big as Manchester, but people are really friendly and it is home to the beetles.

The park is not the Alan Turing park but the Sackville gardens with the Alan Turing memorial in it just a little point for anyone searching for it. Thanks for the great review we are very proud of our village and very lucky to have it still. Other towns have not been so lucky. Come again in pride August Bank holiday each year.

I’m glad you like Manchester. It’s a pretty safe city for LGBT people. Obviously you’ll get idiots but you get them everywhere. As a native Mancunian I urge lots of people to visit Manchester, it’s a great city, fantastic night life.

Great timing as I'm heading to Manchester today for the Manchester Rubber Weekend events. It'll be interesting to compare it with the Birmingham scene which is, shall we say, somewhat limited. I've not done the gay scene in Manc yet, but have spent some time in the city and what you say about it being very Laddish is pretty spot-on. It's a city where they are still a bit obsessed with the 90s lad culture and the successes of bands like Oasis as well as the football scene. That said, there's quite a lot of art stuff going on as well which gives it an interesting mix.

Really interesting to hear an outsiders perspective. I often get rather complacent with the availability of queer venues in Manchester until i venture to other cities and find significantly fewer (sometimes none all) and then remember how lucky i am to be from here. Admittedly its not a particularly touristy city but great for a weekend. Glad you enjoyed it.

It's so cute to see the city I call home come up on my recommended videos! Just a few extra recommendations for people reading the comments: Queer Lit is in Ancoats and is the largest LGBT+ bookshop in Europe. Its also a cafe-bar and event space. Feel Good Club is in the Northern Quarter and is a little more sapphic and trans centred. Vanilla in the Gay Village is a lesbian bar as well. There's another sauna in Stockport (a neighbouring town) which I think js a little cheaper. Manchester Pride is in August and it is one of the UK's three Big Prides (alongside London and Brighton). My personal favourite Pride is in Salford, which is in a park as opposed to the city centre The People's History Museum is a museum of working class history and movements, and has LGBT related exhibitions Manchester has loads of LGBT related events throughout the city. There's also a lot of non-profits working with LGBT youth, HIV+ people, running sexual health servives etc.

Always interesting to see my city from an visitors perspective. Although the Canal St area is the centre of the LGBTQ community, people don’t restrict themselves to that area. You’ll find that they are quite comfortable socialising in the Northern Quarter, Ancoats, Spinningfields as well as the trendier suburbs like Chorlton, Didsbury, Prestwich. And the non LGBTQ community are, mostly, accepting of LGBTQ people. We all know people from the community, work alongside them, they live openly in the city, there are high profile LGBTQ people in important jobs. Glad you enjoyed your visit.

As a gay Manc, thanks for the positive review. We're always gonna feel outnumbered, that's the demographic, I suppose. But I've walked round the city holding hands during the days and evenings and never had any problems. And maybe you just went at a quiet time, but I always see LGBT+ people walking round when I'm there, nobody seems to have any issues... but I'm sure there are plenty out there who have experienced trouble. Indeed, Clonezone has had its windows broken several times over the last 12 months. Its a shame you weren't there during Pride, the streets are packed! And with entertainers on the streets and big stars performing in the Stage areas, the area is bouncing from Friday till Monday

Tbh, I don't feel I would've gotten a 'real feel' for gay Manchester during Pride since it's the gayness dial turned all the way up. This way I got to experience the realness during regular days which I was still impressed!

I am from Manchester and this video is great and trust me the laddish boys are there but it is safe some of them are also gay. If you ever decide to come back to Manchester come during Pride in August the whole of the city celebrates LGBTQI+ then they actually do all year round it is just more visible then.

I was in England about 7 years ago, but not in Manchester. I'm thinking of going back, and, based on your videos, would def include Manchester. The subway in London is fantastic, the trains are fantastic. Trains in European countries are very good--expensive, but good. Went to the London Eagle several times--a very fun and sexy place. One place I would like to go, but won't get to, is Tom Daley's pants!!! Did you take in any other places--Bath, Stonehenge, Canterbury, York? I also love the pedestrian only streets and the car-free plazas. We don't have those! Another European thing we should do.
