Thank you for this. I lost my husband unexpectedly in January. I have no interest in dating... it's been over 40 years since I did. It's good to know that maybe, maybe not... God has his plan and I'll work with it when, if, it happens. I'm glad you are happy.

I've been widowed since March and am one of the ones you mentioned that don't want to date but wanted to let you know that I enjoyed watching this series. Thank you for making your videos - I found them when I had nowhere else to go. You were a Godsend. I am 60 and married 31 years (minus 1 month but I count it.) ~hugs

@@OneHappyWidow Leo, this is the third week that my main comment has been lost. I'm going to put it here, since my replies to people stay up. "Leo, thanks so much for sharing more of your story and the pictures. You are one of the lucky widows who gets another chance at love. Your story was much like when I met my late husband (in person). After a chance meeting and him contacting me, we were inseparable from then on. Even though I don't expect to get serious about online dating, I wasn't one bit put off by this series. It was good information. My comment on the last video disappeared, but one safety tip I would add is to always let someone know where you're going until you are sure of a new person. When I last dated, 50 years ago, the landscape didn't have so many dangers. I'm still just lurking on a dating site, no profile or picture up. I look at the people they email to me every day. Most are too far away to be practical. WAY too many divorced, separated, or never married. Like you, I'm thinking nothing would ever work but to find a nice widower. Even the widowers are usually of the opposite political persuasion, or some other disqualifying thing. This is sort of an entertainment I guess. They can't see me, and I'm just checking out the landscape. I still hope to be able to start getting out and maybe have another chance meeting in the real world."

Paula, I'm not sure what's going on with your other messages, I looked in the "held" section just to see if you accidentally put a term or a period next to something that would cause it to be held by KZbin, but I don't see any of your posts there...so maybe KZbin is blocking it for some reason? It's certainly not on my end...sorry that your posts aren't working! Maybe just post something under a video and just type "test" and see if it will let it go through. I like your idea of just lurking on the dating aps, just so you can see what's out there before diving in! If you post your profile pic and become active, you might start receiving messages from who-knows...could be real people, and could be others lol No sense in rushing, you are on your own time only! It can surely be entertaining, as long as you look at it that way lol. Best of luck, and I hope your area lifts pandemic bans soon...here in GA, things are pretty much as close to "back to normal" as I think they will ever get. I'm thankful for that! #widfam

Married 51 years and 4 days. 74 years old. He passes a little over 5 years ago. Dated one guy 2 or 3 times 3 years ago. Not for me at all and too soon. Met a nice gentleman this past summer once a week for lunch for a month, but I really was not attracted to him and also he has too many health problems. Now comes someone who I am head over heals for because we never run out of things to talk about and agree on our politics and other pertinent aspects. He is the kind of man I dream about. One problem is that we live in different states with our families near each of us. We may never be able to be together. Time will tell. What I want to get across here is that we should never think that falling in love is not a possibility. God bless you both your second time around!

Widowed in 2020 after 47+ years of marriage. We were young, 20 and 22, when we married. I didn't much like dating when I was young, but Tom and I were friends first for 4 months, dated 4 months and were engaged 4 months. Scared to death of dating again. I miss intimacy, but would not want sex without marriage. I would like to develop another friendship first relationship.

@@OneHappyWidow I stumbled into a youtube site for young widows the other day where they were discussing what they call the "wid-ho" phase. a new term to me! I surely wouldn't solve it in the promiscuous way they were talking about (and that kind of carelessness can be dangerous, even deadly), but at least they were honest.

Thanks for sharing! I lost my husband of 20 years in February and I am not ready to date, who knows if I will ever be. However, I loved your story. We are humans and even when we are not in the same place, I like listening to your and other women’s experiences. If this loss has taught me something is that the most important thing in life is relationships: with your spouse, with your kids, with friends, family and even strangers that share their pain and happiness on you tube 😊. I think your contribution is so important and I thank you for that. Hugs from Canada!

Oh man, that video brought tears to my eyes!!! Sweet love story, sweet couple and I am so happy for you both!!! I started 6 months post loss to get up enough nerve/ guts to go on line. Anticipatory grief was in my timeline also. I didn't make things easier in some ways but I knew after my husband passed that I wanted to be coupled again. It was a great marriage and if possible I wanted that again. Although I am in a relationship as of 2 years ago he has stage 4 cancer. 6 months after we met he received his diagnosis and it's hard, really hard to plan or do anything outside of medical treatments, survival and making the most of things as we can. Anticipatory grief again is likely in process but I try not to let it overshadow the simple joys we do experience. Am I strong enough to support, face and endure this again? I am not sure, it's not what I wanted or expected that's for certain.

Oh, that's so sad that you are facing this type of grief yet again! I try not to think about that with us now, but I also realize that when you marry a widowed person, one of you will end up being widowed twice...but if I start to dwell on that it gives me too much anxiety, so I try to live in the moment, like you are trying to do as well. We are all too aware that each of us in on borrowed time. Thanks for the kind words, and I wish you the most happy days you can have with whatever time you will have left with your guy, and we will send prayers your way! #widfam

Wow thank you Leo for sharing your beautiful 2nd chapter 👌 I’m in Australia and had never heard that phrase before 🤷‍♀️ The proposal was super cute! You both look so happy & comfortable together. I think some people just got together. It was spooky to me how many bits and pieces of my journey mirror yours but kind of in reverse. I met my husband in the 1990s via the internet (but before dating apps!!), and we moved to the countryside with 5 acres of land 5 years before he died, not knowing that our dream life together was going to be cut short. But he did say the last 5 years were the happiest of his life, so that’s something 💜

Thank you so much for sharing your story, my story is almost the same as yours, I am a young widow at 37 and have 3 children. My husband was chronicley sick for 10+ years and we were married for 20 years. I started dating 3 months after he passed and I met my boyfriend on Facebook dating, he was divorced from 20 years. My son is 18 and has a hard time with me dating, he respects me for it but does not want to meet him and now that my boyfriend and I have been dating a year my son still has never met him, says he don't like him and has no reason to meet him. I pray we everyday that this will change as I do want to get married again. Was it hard for your children to see u be happy and get married again? Thank you for your story.

My kids took to him ok when we were dating, but since we have been married and he is now trying to help raise and mold them, they don’t like having to follow rules from him. It has been a tough transition! I would change anything, but it has not gone as smoothly as it had hoped. Best of luck with yours! #widfam

I have been seeing someone who lost his wife and him and I were very good friends for the past 30 years. It’s been four months since his wife’s passing and four months that we have been seeing each other. My heart was totally broken when he told me, he will never ever get married, that he married the love of his lifeand she is gone. This man means the world to me but at the same time I’m trying to hold on and see where things may go. Do you have any advice for me?

Many times, widows and widowers start dating for the wrong reasons at first- we are not ready for new love, but we crave the attention and physical touch, and the feeling of being a part of a couple that we had for so long and is gone. I can say that I rushed into a few relationships early on with men who were totally wrong for me, and I’m so glad it never went any farther because it would have been a mistake. On the other hand, I met JP when he had only been widowed 7 weeks. I was the first woman he dated after his wife, and things progressed very quickly. He had been in a dysfunctional marriage for several years before her death, so he had already been mourning the loss of his marriage, even before his wife died. So, it’s hard to give advice about your situation without knowing where your guy is in this journey. It sounds like he enjoys your company and you are being a great support for him in his grief and loss. But in order to move forward with you, he has to be ready to let go of some of his active feelings for his late wife. That is a hard step to take, because it involves some guilt and a feeling that we are cheating or leaving the memory of our late spouse behind. Some people never get there…but 4 months is VERY early in this journey, and he might likely need many more months before he is ready to move forward with a whole new relationship. If you love and care for him, be his friend and comfort him when he needs it. Perhaps things will grow into something more. But if it press him before he is ready, it might not end well. Best of luck to you, as widowed people can be complicated in new relationships. It’s a tough road to travel for us!

It was a hard search lol. There are decent people on those sites, but lots of scammers and strange ones too- it’s tough to navigate through them lol

When you've got God in the relationship, it really helps. There's more than just about oneself, it is thinking wider and deeper, and you strive for becoming a better person.
