Thank you for explaining this. Sometimes something that seems easy turns out to be a disaster once you're deep into your project. Now I get it and the plus 3 doesn't throw me off! Thank you!

Hi, I’m a total beginner! I just watched your video on the double half stitch. After the initial chain we chain 2 more and skip 3 to begin the first row. But then ending and starting every row after that we chain 2 and go in the second hole?
@AhselAnneCrochet4 жыл бұрын
Yes, that's correct. The the chain 2 stitch of the second row (and the subsequent rows) will serve as your first stitch of the row. Sorry for just now responding I didn't see your comment.

I just found this. It is helpful. I came across a pattern that required a gauge of 7dc for 3 rows= 4 inches using a 9mm hook. The biggest hook that I have is a 6.50mm hook. How do I change this to fit what the pattern is asking for
@AhselAnneCrochet3 жыл бұрын
Hi June, it will depend on the pattern and how the pattern writer suggest alternating the it. Check the Pattern's notes to see if the author placed additional instructions. Using a smaller hook will make more stitches per row or round and can definitely change the final product. Regards if my answer isn't in line with what your were asking.

Thank you for the video! Im new to crotcheting do you have to count your stitches in the foundation chain or can you just crotchet a length that you're happy with? Im making a baby blanket for my daughter and made the foundation chain but never counted the stitches should i go back and count them?
@AhselAnneCrochet2 жыл бұрын
Hi, if you have gotten too far along I definitely would not start over to count the stitches. Just count the stitches in the row you are working on and count the stitches in subsequent rows every so often to ensure you are keeping the same stitch count. throughout the blanket. I hope this answers your questions. Good luck with your baby blanket. 💚

How do I figure out the size if I want a drape. I'm a beginner and I really want to make a California King size blanket. Not really good with the measurement part of it but I am just going to do a 1 or 2 row repeat...any suggestions
@AhselAnneCrochet Жыл бұрын
Hi Yvette did you ever get an answer to your question from another channel. I'm just now seeing your question. I'm making a king size blanket now without drape and I"m at 300 stitches to start with drape I'm thinking you'll need to start with 320 foundation chain and measure from there. .. but the blanket size is approx 104"x108" for a cali king with drape. 🙂

Trying to make crib blanket 40 width 60 length my starter chain ended up being 176 chains how can I make it happen ty
@martheseturner9952 жыл бұрын
You will need one more stitch as 177 divides by 3.

Do you always have to use the size hook that is recommended on the yarn label? Very new to crocheting here..lol. For instance, if I use a yarn weight of 4 and they recommend a certain size hook, can you go up or down to make the project go faster?
@AhselAnneCrochet3 жыл бұрын
No, absolutely not 🙂. Going up or down a size is usually fine. If you go up too much or Your holes will be larger which could have an impact on the project.

What do you mean in multiples? Are you referring to rows?
@AhselAnneCrochet Жыл бұрын
Hi Kaycee, 'm referring to the number of stitches in the foundation chain. If you have to have a multiple of 5 then you foundation chain would be 20, 25,30...etc. It would need to be divisible by 5. Does that make sense?
@TNaja-lr4ne3 жыл бұрын
Hello, you explained so well yet I’m still having trouble as an amateur lol. Say I did 100 foundation chains and it needs to be a multiple of 6....how many actually do I need? Sorry I couldn’t figure it out :(
@AhselAnneCrochet3 жыл бұрын
Hello, No worried, do 102 since 102 is divisible by 6, evenly. 💚

@@AhselAnneCrochet Thank you dear! I just finished a simple stitch afghan for a friend it was supposed to be a throw and it turned out to be a full size blanket lol Now I’m starting a shell stitch pattern for a throw and it takes up more yarn I think . I’m using Bernat inspiration now and it’s a thicker yarn. Thanks so much for your quick reply !

11:57 HI AHSELANNE, WENT TO YOUR WEB PAGE AND SAW YOUR SIZING CHART, BUT IM A LITTLE CONFUSED WITH THE SIZE OF THE FULL BLANKET. THE FULL SIZE BLANKET MEASUREMENT IS 30”x36” THIS IS SMALLER THAN THE TWIN, THROW AND APHGAN. I THOUGHT FULL SIZE IS EQUAL TO THE SIZE OF A FULL SIZE BED. HOPING YOU SEE THIS MESSAGE AND CLARIFY. TY
@AhselAnneCrochet9 ай бұрын
HI. Let me check.. it's probably a typo on my website because you are correct a 30x36' is a small throw.

i hold my foundation chain up to see if that’s how wide i would like it and i count my chains out so i know how many use. just something that works for me
@AhselAnneCrochet4 жыл бұрын
I do that too , when I'm free crocheting or creating a new pattern. Thanks for sharing. 💚
@gmdevins12 жыл бұрын
I started a crochet blanket. I measured how wide and made the chain. As I was doing half doubles and many rows, I placed it on the bed and for some reason it became wider even though it was still even on each end. Why is this happening? This is the second time I had to unravel it. Please help!
@AhselAnneCrochet2 жыл бұрын
Ummm. is it getting wider like in a V shape? It will naturally get wider because of the weight of the yarn pulling the stitches but if it's increasing like V-Shape you are probably adding a stitch in the rows. it's a gradual change and it usually happens at the first or last stitch. My suggestion is to count the stitches as you go down the row. You don't have to do it for the whole project, just every now and then on consecutive rows (i.e. rows 2&3) and then again later at maybe (rows 7&8). Just make sure you are keeping the same count. 🙂🙂🙂
