Ok since you don't know as much about the predator franchise as you might think and you like to mislead, allow me to lay some knowledge on you. There have been multiple strong female leads and co-leads throughout the Predator film franchise and comic books. Dan Trachtenberg said they designed this predator to look different than the original and more similar to the Berserker in Predators. They also wanted it to be a more primal hunter because in the Predator hierarchy you have to earn the more advanced weapons and armor which would lead you to believe this is likely its first ever hunt. More proof of this hunters inexperience is it not realizing that the spear gun uses the lasers from the biomask to target. Also how can you justify it being able to travel through space but then give such crude armor and technology? I mean come on he can travel through space, Cloak, and have Lazer beams coming out of his face yet he's oh so primitive, are you kidding me? Yall really need to brush up on a topic before making a video, unless that was your intention to focus solely on it being a native American woman lead, which need I remind you would not have happened 300yrs ago in the Cherokee nation because women back then were seen as gatherers and nurturers not warriors or hunters and they would not have been permitted to do so. So please drop the social justice identity crap because it's getting old.

This movie didn't retcon anything. The predator in this movie wasn't a " Less developed ancestor." It was an unblooded. An unblooded is meant to have have little tools to hunt with until they become blooded. The better the hunter and the older you are the more/better gear you get. This isn't a retcon. It fits perfectly well within the lore of the other movies.

2018's predator was entertaining the first time through (besides the end) I actually enjoyed the comedy the first watch. It became a problem for me on subsequent watches where it started feeling more corny because of how much humor they tried to put in it. I actually didn't mind some of their ideas like some predators trying to use the dna of the prey they hunt to genetically modify themselves to become the best hunters but I think the way it was presented could have been much better. As much as most people commenting about 2018 predator seem to dislike it. The “outdated” survival of the female characters does have legitimate context. The woman in Predator was not armed and a POW so not a threat and a male would have probably survived. The female lead being pregnant was nearly killed but spared because pregnant while other women who were armed were killed because they prey. The code of honor is not suddenly changed and Naru survived based off not being a threat until she gathered the needed info to defeat it, while her brother was seen as the true Prey until Naru proved the predator’s error.

The Feral Predator (many are calling him now) in Prey looks to be different from those who gave Danny Glover (as police Lt. Mike Harrigan) the flintlock in Predator 2. Maybe the Feral Predator is actually from a rival clan/tribe/subspecies of those from Predator 2. Feral's clan came back to earth to slaughter Naru's tribe out of spite/revenge, and a hunter from the P2 clan happens to track them to earth also, and join force with Naru to beat the Feral's clan (because of the rivalries & he thinks the Feral's clan was being dishonorable). In the end, they beat the Feral's clan, and they exchange their weapons out of mutual respect, he gives his combistick to Naru, Naru gives him the flintlock. And 250+ yrs later, he becomes the clan's elder, and gives Harrigan's the flintlock... (Yeah, I know I'm in the fanfic territory now, haha).

They found and killed the Queen together, cleared the infestation, saved most of the colonists and before Dachande died of his wounds, he gave her his mark and considered her to be his greatest student. When a Yautja search party came looking for Dachande, they found Machiko who managed to communicate with them well enough to tell the tale and revealed Dachande’s mark. Lastly, although Sanaa Lathan's character in AVP similarly had the mark of the Predator's tribe permanently engraved into her forehead, the hunting party left her behind on earth. Everyone who brings this point up misses the fact that by the end of the movie the Predator had been injured by a wolf, the bear, two of the Native American warriors (including Tabe), the French men, and shot in the back of the head by Naru with a flintlock ball probably the size of a 50 caliber round. that much damage evens the playing field a shitload. I think the director of this film did a great job of giving a rational reason why a 130 pound woman could beat a young, and presumably inexperienced, Predator. If you look at the cave paintings at the end of the film, you will see the Predator ships descending from the sky. If they are coming back to kick ass and take names, Naru (and her people) are unlikely to stand a chance. In fact, doesn't the very same flintlock show up in Predator 2, and is given to Danny Glover's character by the Hunting Party Leader? He (the Hunting Party Leader) likely got that by taking it from the owner right? My thoughts are, we might be seeing (at some point) how that happened in the near future. My two cents worth.
@williamtufts36002 жыл бұрын
@@monstafloppa871 true. The flintlock came from a pirate in the comics. Don't know how they will explain it. But after the wolf attack there's a scene where predator is healing in the cave. I would assume after the bear he would have healed again. Because when he was shown fighting the French he wasn't bleeding. The bear had a face full of green blood during the fight. Even with one arm and shot to hell Predator managed to get his hand on her. With that strength even severely diminished strength once he got ahold of her it's over. I think they should have really leaned into the trapper part of their lives. They did a good start when she lured him in and had a few booby traps. Maybe used more of the land to her knowledge and lure him under a giant rock and trigger it to fall. Then go crazy with the hatchet on his face. But hand to hand against a Predator would have led to death. She was good at being fast and sneaky and smart. They should have leaned into that more than a brute force fight. I feel.

Now that I've watched it a 2nd time I noticed something, I think the predator in movie was young because he didn't really know how the tech worked. Like the targeting system on his helmet, because he kept firing his darts even though his helmet was off and pointing somewhere else. So he must've been a young predator trying to prove himself by hurting there. Anyways a great movie and I'll probably watch it a few more times as time goes on. It's the herb 🌿 she gave one of her tribesmen whonwas attacked by the lion at the beginning of the movie. And its the same herb 🌿 she gave the guy she helped who gave her the pistol. Its cools the body down. The predator couldn't see him She took it when she captured the man who captured her and used him as the bait. The mud was a misdirect perfectly played because i was like ok. The mud same ol same, then it wasn't that im like ok hes going to drown in the mud pit. That didn't happen. Im like well damn!! Then I'm like of course she figured out how the helmet worked. I think it's a mistake to not make more AVP or engineer vs predator movies. So much story could be told and background into who created who. It could almost get biblical as it relates to humans and their place in that universe.
@ShadowNinjaMaster932 жыл бұрын
They fixed the franchise by making it about two competent hunters playing cat and mouse again, and not a slasher horror movie with jumpscares. That's it. That's the soul of the predator franchise, and for some reason it's been lost on the filmmakers for 35 flipping years.

My only complaints about the movie are one, and this is more the series as a whole and not just Prey, is the plot armor of the main characters. You mean to tell me that a lone Predator can kill wolves, bears, and a whole hunting party of grown adults, but a young girl can kill it? I want a Predator movie where the Predator/s are the main protagonists of the film and they massacre whatever they come up against. Two, the pistol that the guy gave Naru in the camp was the pistol that the Elder Predator gave Danny Glover in Predator 2. The original story was that a Youngblood Predator was on one a hunt on Earth and Antolini was a pirate captain that fought off a mutiny on his ship. The Predator saw Antolini fighting and ended up aiding him as he saw a warrior spirit in him. Antolini gave that Predator his pistol. Other than these, the movie was great. The different time period setting was so cool to see.

It's not logical to put a limit on the 'Predators' weaponry at the time. They're a technologically advanced and ancient race....whatever they use is a matter of choice rather than availability due to a 300 year difference. Thoughts???????

I just figured they choose a weapon set that's honorable for the situation. They'll show up with more advanced gear vs late 20th century tech users Dutch's crew or Danny Glover's hardboiled cop squad than they would when battling some wildlife and people with 18th century gear.
