Instagram | / officialmarvincook
Recognizing defensively that a fighters stance is abandoned the moment an opponent puts PRESSURE on them. We naturally want to move our head out of the way, throwing around weight, momentum, and placing ourselves outside of our center of BALANCE. When this occurs, you no longer have reliable MOBILITY.
This is often called being "SLICK" in the general boxing public. When a fighter is doing this, their feet are not moving. This evasion only works if the shots are being thrown from in front of them. If your opponent is doing this, avoiding your shots, take the blame because you are firing from right in front of him.
Stepping off will nullify the HEADMOVEMENT on display, as it's purpose only works when their opponent is standing in front of them.
It does not take the amount of TIMING and SPACING to avoid the shot. Make them miss by a hair, not a mile.
Evading by stabilizing the TRUE BOXERS STANCE using the HALF-STEP footwork, you will maintain your OFFENSIVE prowess.
You do not want to exchange your OFFENSE for your DEFENSE.
The TRUE BOXERS STANCE allows you to run your OFFENSE WITHIN YOUR DEFENSE.
You can move your TARGET and FIRE at the same time.
If your opponent is being AGRESSIVE, he can use your inability to maintain balance/position/mobility to score while you're making erratic movements in hopes of finding enough space to regain your BALANCE and your OFFENSE.
By maintaining this STANCE, you'll have the ability to continually run your offense while your opponent will not have the comfort of being able to run you over.
He HAS to deal with the threat of your offense. This will allow you to truly see the fight. So many people are in the fight, but they can't see it because it's so frantic and uncontrolled.

Great comment mate, but I just hope that these recent vids he has uploaded, are just an introduction to his concepts for new people (People that wasn´t subbed to his channel for 8 years, like me who have been waiting for this mans comeback sine 2012 when I subbed to his channel) and that he is really planning to come back as a coach with 2020 gems, cause every teaching Marvin does, is a gem. Hope he doesn´t disappear for another 8 years.

@@TheEd1225 That seems illogical. Pardon me because i'm no boxer, but i'm also pretty sure learning good fundamentals and theory is always the best to start out, no? You can only get so far by learning by doing, if you don't learn theory and fundementals early on, you're limiting yourself.

@@paynevess8822 “I’m no boxer”... Before I even finish reading the rest of your response. Go to any reputable gym and you’ll see; you’ll see that learning this shit does not require a TED talk. @@k3nny235 you’re right. I’ve made several assumptions. It could be that he’s doing a seminar. I guess it comes down preference. Ironic how the moment i started watching you, you come back. Youre the reason i started boxing, your footwork is elegant, mike tyson said everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face but with amazing footwork, you dont have to go in mindless and with the mentality, the stonger one wins because in this case, the smarter one wins

"You should be able to see the fight, inside the fight." Man, that's something to ponder on. So much knowledge in such few words and not much demonstration needed. Today is spar day at my gym. Although we are traditional Muay Thai, we do practice our boxing from time to time - going just hands. I will be sure to remember this video. Thank, man. 🙏🏾

That's the thing about slipping and rolling you have to use your footwork with your head movement since the opponent can easily come in angle and you're easily to get hit. That's the thing that I realized in my previous sparrings.

When he went ghost I legit tried searching him up on the internet. Needless to say the dude was a ghost and i was so sad about it becasue the quality of knowledge this guy drops on boxing as an ART is something that's very rare to find on the youtube algorithm with all these "fighting fitness channels" etc. Welcome back Marvin it's good to hear from you.
