Was about to comment the same thing. Too much is put into individual players winning championships when a pitcher can only control usually two games in a series. His injury history has prolly ruined his chances at the hall but overall he is been a great pitcher when healthy. It would be nice to see him put it all together for a season and take another run at a CY Young award.

@flyinlikelions5 жыл бұрын
@@FoolishBaseball How about just the Marlins this year. The trades of Yelich, Ozuna, Stanton, Bour which netted them prospects still only good enough for the 25th ranked farm system coming into this year, plus the young pitching they traded away a few years ago that is now coming up to the bigs shows they have completely botched the last 5 years. Or could do the Tigers collapse from trading Porcello for what eventually turned into Michael Fulmer via Cespedes (ok we'll call that a decent move) and letting Scherzer walk (both former Tigers won Cy Youngs after leaving) trading Verlander for peanuts (maybe a bullpen arm in Franklin Perez) trading JD Martinez after they turned his career around for guys who will never see the big leagues. Trading Justin Upton, again, for guys who will never make it to the show. Trading David Price for Matthew Boyd and Daniel Norris which is the best move they have made. I believe out of all the trades they made only 2 of the guys they got in return are still in our top 10 prospects list Perez and Isaac Paredes while the only guys who have made it so far are Jeimer Candellario who has a robust .692 career OPS and is one of the worst defensive 3B in baseball, Fulmer who had a great first 2 years but is coming off a season where his era was 4.5 and he is currently having Tommy John surgery, and Boyd and Norris who are big league caliber arms but not necessarily building blocks despite Boyds great start this year his 4.5 career era shows otherwise. As a Tigers fan it's been a frustrating time.

Everyone seemed to doubt him and we voiced our doubts regularly, and then in the postseason, but most importantly game 6, when we thought he might wuss out because he was sick, he basically told us all collectively to shove it. Which is kinda what we all wanted from him anyway. Man, that was a glorious ending. Strasburg actually has very similar numbers to Scherzer if you compare them through both of their age 29 seasons, with Strasburg actually just a little bit better. Strasburg went 94-52 with 3.14 ERA, 1444 SO, 1.049 WHIP, and in 1222 IP. Also posted 26.3 WAR. Scherzer went 91-50 with 3.58 ERA, 1321 SO, 1.219 WHIP, in 1239 IP. Sherzer posted a 23.8 WAR. Since turning 30, Sherzer has posted a record of 70-37 with a 2.76 ERA, 1224 SO, 0.945 WHIP, in 949 IP and with a 31.3 WAR (and 2 CYA). Not saying that Scherzer is a HOF lock currently but he's definitely making a case with one great season after another well into his mid 30's. Strasburg definitely has a shot if he can do the same, at least until his current contract is up at the end of 2023. He's already off to another fantastic start this year! I'm rooting for him.
@ProjectDioVita5 жыл бұрын
I would say Max Scherzer's: "6× All-Star (2013-2018) 3× Cy Young Award (2013, 2016, 2017) 4× wins leader (2013, 2014, 2016, 2018) 3× NL strikeout leader (2016-2018) Pitched two no-hitters in 2015 (June 20 and October 3) Pitched two immaculate innings (May 14, 2017, and June 5, 2018) Tied MLB record for strikeouts (20) in a 9-inning game (May 11, 2016) Tied MLB record for 250 strikeouts in 5 straight seasons" ...would probably put anyone in the hall of fame, IMO. @@Tyler-le6pl I agree that Scherzer is probably a Hall of Famer. I don't think he's the best candidate among active pitchers (Kershaw, Verlander), but definitely up there. If he has a few more AS years in him, he's got to be in. His resume isn't worse than Roy Halladay's. I actually did think of Scherzer when asking myself if Strasburg had a shot at the Hall of Fame. The other guy I thought of was Randy Johnson, but I don't think Strasburg has any chance of matching Johnson's relative durability.

That story needs to play itself out first, but they are an interesting team. I have enjoyed having Rosario and Kepler in fantasy.

MyContentIsTrash honestly good for them. I would have loved to keep it, but it was going to be broken anyways, glad it’s from a scrappy team.

Beautiful work as always! Suggesting a tutorial video on advanced analytics for beginners? Most of them out there turn into a snooze fest.

I have definitely thought about it. Would probably be an offseason project if anything.

The fact that you said he can still be a hall of famed and he absolutely dominates the playoffs in 2019? He’s in to me.

Watching this after his retirement announcement. Is it possible for a career to be a success and a disappointment at the same time?

Truly inspiring debut performance. To perform under that level of hype and pressure in your first major league game is so impressive.

I remember the beginning of Stasburgs career, he was couldn't miss TV. I tried to watch every time he took the bump early on, luckily they nationally broadcasted most of his early starts

He’s elite and the numbers back it up. He’s still a hall of famer. Maybe not a first ballot like Kershaw or Sherzer but definitely belongs.
