Thanks guy that made this video made my life a lot easier

I believe this video was created shortly after the introduction of the gray tank. I remember being at the factory and answering a few questions for them the day they filmed this video but cannot recall exactly when that was, but it was a long time ago.

thank you for this video i did not know how to fix my rear wheel problem I have a 1999 goped sport in excellent condition I paid 200 do u think that was a good deal

@FrenchValleyAirport Its just a video made about 20 years ago is all, so you are not to far off the mark. I would make a new one but think this does a decent job at explaining how its done.

between the wheel bearings should be a spacer that keeps the bearings from binding up when you tighten down the rear axle. If the wing nut can get loose on you then you need to get the rear quick release axle tighter to keep it in position.

More detailed that that? This guy goes over each step pretty clearly to me.

I was told that too much weight on the spindle can slow the scooter down? Not sure if that's true? Too much pressure from spindle to tire makes it slower?

@moni370 Something does not sound right, if it is tight then how can it get loose? I am guessing your not letting the quick release's arm to tighten the axle to move next to the tire far enough to "cam over" because that's how the arm stays in place. (Sorry if your having trouble following me on this, I am simply having a hard time finding the words to explain it better)

@thedetroitlionsfan it does not get much more detailed then this. It will not work if your tire is worn out and you need a new one.

Wait, this couldn't have been 15 years ago, because it has a gray tank and mach12 rims. which didn't appear until after 2000.

An unevenly worn rear tire is typicality caused by one or a combination of the following: not adjusting the rear tire leaving the rear axle too loose letting the drive spindle slip against the tire. doing donuts, burnouts, or aggressive turning/cornering in only one direction. driving on a ruff surface that cuts the tire. rear wheel not centered. something rubbing against the tire and/or forgetting to move the snail shaped washer out of the way so you can do the proper adjustment.

Yes and No, there needs to be a washer on each side of the wheel without the washers then Yes. Between the wheel bearings should be a spacer that keeps the clamping load off the bearings so the bearings don't bind. If your wheel is missing this spacer then Yes for sure. Then of course every nut and bolt has point where it can get too tight. But if you have everything original and the parts are where they need to go and do not over do it then No.

I have an issue. I was riding without washers on my rear tire and the bearings are wearing down the sides of the frames. But when I placed bearings inside the wheel the wing it keeps loosing up.

I am positive that I am adjusting the rear wheel right but my quick release will not get tight! I can keep spinning the wing nut but it will not get tight enough to hold the epw in place......PLEASE HELP
