Great guide. I barely used the printed instructions. Couple extra comments: 1) this video works for the updated model with only minor differences that will be obvious and 2) you can assemble this alone, but be extremely careful and slow.

Overall, a very helpful assembly video. Well done. 1. You did "speed up the process by pre-installing", however you also skipped over the hot mess of awkwardness that is assembling the initial pieces as a single person. You could make the video/process better by discussing the best couple of approaches that work for one person (I managed it solo, admittedly rather awkwardly, using adhoc scaffolding creatively and affixing the diagram metal plate first out-of-order to the suggested steps). Alternately, clearly mention that it requires two people. For safety's sake, it ought to be mentioned that you cannot safely stand up one side and simply hope it stays upright while you handle the other. It can stay upright for several minutes and then slightly settle and topple over untouched. Assemblers need to respect that it's unsafe to try to solo assemble without scaffolding or a way of firmly securing it. Solo assemblers are also going to be sorely tempted to initially stabilize the two uprights via attaching first the much lighter metal sheet with printed exercise pictures that you can reasonably hold with one hand, which does keep the two uprights stable, but is then at a non-zero risk of deforming when trying to reposition them to get the main heavy connectors attached. (Mine did not deform, but it was clear it could have with less carefulness.) 2. The printed guide has an easily correctable oddity, where it explicitly lists some of the parts as being preassembled on the pieces, but then inconsistently neglects to list that other parts (16 screws. 16 washers, two squarish pieces) are preassembled on the pieces. I had 17 of 32 washers (1 extra, in retrospect) from unwrapping the screws/washers, and spent a good 10 minutes puzzled, wondering if I was missing a category of screw and 15 washers and would need to file a warranty email to get missing parts reshipped, rereading the guide and double checking if I missed a parts bundle or scotch taped bag on a container or component, before figuring it out. The simplest of text accuracy/consistency tweaks would have saved that confusion. If I could only make one printed guide edit, it would be this. 3. Ordered an unrelated 200 dollar climbing machine and it came with a (cheap, though effective enough) thin metal double-headed wrench and an allen key + screwdriver hybrid for its assembly, that appear to cost perhaps a dollar each (perhaps less). Order a 2500+ dollar Rep FT-5000, no assembly tools. Respectfully, consider folding the 2-3 dollars of tools into the price and include them. (Particularly when the allen key size is big enough that it's not in some standard toolbox sets). Assembly instructions tweak suggestions (going by the step numbers in the printed guide, not this video step count, though some may apply to both.) Mentioning purely as friendly feedback. My assembly went fine, the printed guide just...left a bit to be desired in places. 4. Step 1/2, print a mention the two connectors very subtle differ. Even after looking them over closely, I didn't realize they have very slightly different narrow/wider pegs for hanging items, which I'm agnostic about, so no worries, but insofar as I didn't notice and the docs ought to mention. That's an extremely vexing piece to unscrew and reattach later, especially if someone assembled to step 3 and then moved the equipment flush with a wall before making it too heavy to move/access with later steps, then realizes only at the end. It would probably not also hurt the instructions to mention, as it's not especially visually obvious, that the pegs are slanted 10-15 degrees, and there is a right and a wrong orientation to attaching the connectors right-side-up versus upside-down. 5. Step 1/2/3, if you look close enough at the diagram you can tell, but give a clarifying mention which way the flange should face, since it's relevant much later at step 12. 6. Step 4, The 10-0020 nut only accepts the screw so far, having plastic inside the thread, leading if one stops there to a parts fit that rattles about and isn't tight. The printed instructions could use a text blurb as to whether one should keep forcing the screw. In the video, as you only hand tightened, this didn't come up. 7. Step 8 in the printed doc doesn't mention that the screws/washers in question are already on the device. It would be trivial to add a clarifying blurb. 8. Step 9. The instructions terse "disassemble pulley from headplate and align cable" could use a bit more guiding text. It went fine; the guide could have been clearer. Really consider mentioning in the text that the cable guards on the pulleys with clarity, as that's a critical detail to get right during assembly. 9. Step 11 is a bit amusing. No text or diagram, just a standalone part, though the stickers it's about aren't pictured. It's as if a blurb of text "attach weight stickers" got inadvertently omitted. General tip: One doesn't need to slide the hard-to-slide rubber circles down the whole length of the metal pole. You can wiggle them on to just the top of the pole, about a hand width, then the other two accompanying cylinder/washer pieces, then just flip the pole top to bottom inverted, and place it in that way. It's effectively like putting the pieces on the pole from the bottom. It's simply easier, and much less likely to require WD-40. (Not that some WD-40 isn't a splendid idea in nearly every situation one might think to use WD-40.) General tip: Don't leave the bars for the weights unheld with the first plate or two on them, they are more than willing to tip off being upright and the bar can come loose off it's shallow base mount divot. It's probably a solid tip to stack several boxes of weight plates closely to hand within arm's reach, to be able to put on the first 6-7 without moving from holding the bars securely with a free hand. General tip, odd one-off: Of the two cable attachments devices to the rectangles steel bars which control the height of the exercise, which came pre-assembled, one of mine was on 180 degrees the wrong way. It just manages to partially catch the height holes, improperly, slightly enough to stay in a position but isn't really engaged and obviously you can't lift/use it that way. It is very easy to pop off, flip 180, pop back on. Probably the manual could use a tip to check that and correct it in a tips or troubleshooting section, even though I'm assuming it's rare it's mixed up. Most appreciated step: The product I got now ships with the cabling mostly threaded about the various pulleys. Nice work on that, it's a solid ease of assembly improvement. Least appreciated step: The screws and washers being shipped in molded plastic that took a couple minutes to scrape and knife off. It's like Spiderman webbed it on. His movies are doing fine, he doesn't need this extra side hustle. (Most likely it's some 1970's vibes plastic molder machine that was readily to hand.) It's over-zealous about embedding the washers in plastic though. Runner up: I do think the different rubber ball for the cable handle in v2 is quite hard to get on. v1 seems to have had a superior design approach, at least from an assembly perspective. Overall, I think it's a great product, and I'm a happy customer. The guy who put this video together is also truly great for giving customers a video guide. Outstanding.

If you take your pulley trolley and flip it upside down. This raises it a few inches in the high position so you can get the tricep push downs done. You’ll have to either cut the cable shorter or shorten it by pulling further through the connector on the back of the trolley. It worked for me.

I'm putting mine together right now and the pulley carriage is absolutely horrible! It was very hard to get it to slide over the high low bar. I had to force it pretty hard to get it through. Did not go through easy at all like he showed. While pulling out the pin and sliding it up and down is also impossible without such hard force and it sounds like its scraping as it slides. I pinned it in one of the holes and when I looked on the backside of that rail. There was shaved plastic stuck to it up and down! The pulley inside the carriage was now scraped and chewed up. I found another video after showing about adjusting the one bolt on the carriage to adjust the roller inside. I do that and it makes the whole carriage wobble side to side and its still not easy to slide it up and down. I think I was given a bad carriage. My other side is fine.

Great video. Incredibly helpful. But it does reveal one manufacturing issue that needs to be addressed. There needs to be a hole in the top of the frame above where you need to thread the cable. By far the most frustrating part of the installation. Requires two people, a flashlight, and ideally a wooden shim to get the cable to thread over the pulley.

As much as I would love to own this functional trainer, I can't find one anywhere that is tall enough. At 6'3", the adjustable rails and pull-up bar are way too low. A lot of us have 9ft basement ceilings or garage ceilings that are even taller. Keep this model, but please manufacture a taller 100" version.

Going through building mine now. Did notice a couple of defects though. The instructions on paper aren’t all that well written either One of the bolts up top literally had zero thread to get the Allen key in there to tighten. Will take a trip to Home Depot and replace it Pin to increase and decrease weights didn’t come with the attachment to wrap around the neck of the rod, bummer. And also our pull-up bar and the exercise plate came with a defect. Seems like it was banged or something. Surprised since it came with tons of bubble wrap. Other than that, looks good
@cdfoxx
@cdfoxx 2 жыл бұрын
The fact that there isn't a link to this video on the incredibly un-detailed instructions should be illegal. Whoever thought the paper instructions were good to go should be fired. They leave the installation of the shrouds until the last step. This makes it nearly impossible to screw the shrouds into the sides of the machine at the bottom where the weight stack makes the space to tighten it less than one inch.
@quatha
@quatha 2 жыл бұрын
Good and necessary video! Your paper instructions are absolute trash though. Would not be hard to improve them. Worst part of the process was threading that cable out through the top pulley. No easy way to do it that I could figure out. Ended up sticking a small ruler in there to help me fish the cable around. Seems like there could be some better engineering there.
