It's funny that you say how companies should have all of the above, in my previous role as a digital marketing specialist, I was in charge of Media buying, video editing, email marketing, SEO, UI design, photography and videography, and creative strategist. I learned a lot in that role but was severely underpaid for what I was doing, companies like that are good and bad depending on how you look at it. Now I'm transitioning into a role where I can use my creativity skills such as a creative strategist, so this video is really helpful. Thank you. :)

I'm the creative strategist and media buyer for my own business. 🤪 Would love to know about your naming conventions, and also your process for moving something from Testing to Prospecting/Retargeting. I think in one of your videos you mentioned increasing the budget first in Testing, to see if the creative could handle it? But I'd love to know more about what you're looking for in a test, and what to do when you add a new successful creative to a Prospecting campaign, and FB doesn't spend on it because it's still spending on the other ads in that ad set. Last thing (sorry! LOL) Airtable is a really great collaborative tool to track inspiration, creative pipelines, analytics, etc. all in one place and it's way prettier than Notion. 😄

Hi Dara, I'm a designer new to media buying and the social media ads world - it seems like media and ad buyers don't actually have to design the ads themselves, but I don't really see any job postings in general of designers designing the ads/videos used for these campaigns. What do you call designers who help the creative strategists execute/create the creatives? Brand designers, product designers, creative designers? Or should designers learn media buying skills to pivot into this industry?

I'm reallty surprised that text in a rectangular white box on mobile phone creatives is so popular. Am I the only one who thinks it looks.......er cheap nasty and stylisticaly dum? Great vid Dara do you use automated rules (or have rules of thumb) for cost per click of creatives? for example if an adset / creative has very high CPC / no link clicks after a certain amount spent do you turn it off? Thanks

Nope, not at all. Generally I let ads run for a few hundred $$$ depending on the client and product and turn off if performance is poor.
