You can break through it even in 1936 (although I used planes, the ones Germany starts with). You don't even need to do the Rhineland focus, just rush your fast units (tanks and motorized) to the border once you declare war. This is probably the simplest way to form the EU, use the French fleet to take down the UK just after and do the civil war once you have all the territories required (don't puppet them tho).
@OnlyGrafting3 ай бұрын
Germany has a general that can get fortress buster pretty quickly. I used to use him, make heavy tanks and focus on simply destroying the fort level in the North with them where the terrain is kinder. You don't need heavy tanks capable of soing pushes, just something that will devastate forts with their attack moeifiers.
@willywonka64873 ай бұрын
one of the tiles is a plain tile. you can bust through with heavy tanks like you said with no effort. not really worth it since you can get around maginot so easily but still fun

0:30 You miscalculate effect from fort because fort effect us mutilplicative not additive. If if give n is fort level, your method is 15n% such as fort level 5 reduce damage 75% damage reduction but correct formula is damage recived is (85%)^n auch as fort level 5 will take damage only (85%)^5=44.4% so it reduce damamge by 55.6%.

Rangers support company with rough terrain specialist also grant +20% attack in mountains but not hills. If you were to grind a mountaineer trait général in Spain, might just negate the mountain penalty in the south of the Maginot too? But then there’s also a river in the south portion of the Maginot line. Could be wrong I’m no expert when it comes to how modifiers stack in game.
@TheMelnTeam3 ай бұрын
Mountain penalty is severe, and tanks take additional penalties there on top of it. Plus attacking into them incurs the terrain attrition. These factors combined make it not worth it, though you could probably force the AI off it eventually. Realistically, You'd probably just break the first tile, pin the others, and immediately snake/encircle. That way, targets are out of supply and you get more directions on remaining provinces. What he did here is a proof of concept, making it harder than necessary for demonstration!

Eh, the field marshal frontline is so necessary for normal gameplay, especially in MP, that nobody really considers it an exploit even if it is one. It should just be a core mechanic that you can micro with planning.

With a single attack direction and no special fort attack modifiers, lvl 7 will match lvl 10. But of course, lvl 10 is better when modifiers come into play.

HOI4 is such a broken game. You can end up in a situation where someone has an easier time attacking a tile if there's a fort there than if it wasn't there at all, or situations where an attack is easier with a river than without a river. Every modifier and combat statistic needs to be rewritten from scratch. Bonus stacking is absurdly broken.
@Pydgin3 ай бұрын
I kinda love how stacking modifiers work. It can be absurd but in a good way. The game really does reward players who take the time to learn the mechanics. That point about forts isn't true, in vanilla or any mod. It's a common misconception that's endlessly repeated but the fort modifier bottoms out at 0%. You're right about rivers, they can go positive. Like up to 57.5% if I recall correctly.
@theCharmoftheSeer3 ай бұрын
My impression is that attacking in general is too easy and not costly enough. But if they changed that they may have to write better AI so it won't suicide itself against dug in troops.
