Best way to start the engine after filter fuel change 1.turn the key position to “ON” dont start yet 2. Wait atleast 30secs until pump stopped 3. Turn the key into “off” position then turn into “on” position and wait again atleast 10secs until the pump stopped 4. Start the engine. Repeat procedure no. 3 if the engine does not start Just wait the pump to build pressure before starting.

Very good video! I have a Captiva 2012 from UK. The filter housing does not have a shield. There is a Philips screw between the filters to drain the initial liquid. Then you can use the 27" to unscrew the filters. The replacement sold in here came already with the bottom plastic attached. So you would not need to attache the old ones. Much easier than I anticipated!

North american cars all have the filter inside the gas tank, so just a FYI if your scratching your head wondering where it is.

Then you have to replace the entire fuel pump? Or is the filter serviceable somehow?
@billfrete84877 ай бұрын
Most of the time you need to buy the whole unit. Hardest part is removing the entire rear seat and getting through the access panel.@@orkoto6057

In the older vehicles you have to prime the diesel after a filter change but these newer vehicles are self priming. Otherwise very well explained. And also bleed the air from system 6mm hex key at top of filter housing.
@mrellis11816 жыл бұрын
You forgot to mention that there is an air bleed valve on top of the filter housing! It's a 6mm allen key. Loosen this while the car is running to bleed air out of the housing

6.40 - the manual says - turn the key on and off a few times, this ensures that in modern diesel engines the pump pumps the fuel up rather than in older engines will require priming

Actually it would be much better that next time you just to put the the key to ON position 3 times before puting it to start potiion and starting-up the car. This is because the low pressure fuel pump in the fuel tank will fill up the filters and the diesel lines before cranking the engine.

Shouldn’t gas companies be responsible for providing clean gas? Like maybe the gas station pump should have filters that need to be replaced and are visible to customers?
