How to create flowers for your client when the season doesn’t match the brief

What to do when you took a commission in July for a pale pink and summery look, but the autumn light, which you'd forgotten would be so influential, and the turning foliage, makes the look of your work quite different from the original order? After all, the dahlias and roses are still flowering, they are used in this commission, but there's no doubting these are autumn flowers.
Join flower farmer and florist Georgie Newbery of Common Farm Flowers in Somerset (zone 8) as she creates these beautiful flowers for a hen party using only what she has in her late summer garden, and maybe be inspired to go out and cut some flowers for your own #30stemchallenge. It's a great idea to cut flowers from your own garden and make a posy for your table, and as the season slows here in the northern hemisphere, it's an opportunity to bathe your eyes in the last of the flowers' colours, get close to the garden, take a bit of fresh air and exercise, and create something beautiful: win win win!

It s a little past the crack of dawn here in the Highlands of Chiapas and what a lovely surprise to wake up to your pink flowers. That music marched me out into the garden and I am looking at my giant Monstera and Alocasia leaves, some huge white Calla lillies and stunning Mexican pink oversized Impatients. A few bromeliads are sporting lobster salmond colored flower spikes and the English hybrid Abutilon branches are drooping under the weight of hundreds of small yellow and orange flowers just waiting for the morning visits of the humming birds. The Crocosmias and Tigridias are gone but I just found some yellow Cannas. Ha! My vases are half a meter high, and yes I will make an arrangement. Thank you Georgie, have a lovely afternoon and evening!

Love your videos. And the music also. Have a new appreciation for everything when I go cutting. Anything goes for me. Fall here in indiana so made a arrangement with grasses ,dried hydrangeas and other thing’s including sedums. Will dry and be used for Christmas so.

Adding the aster’s to your bouquets reminds me that there is a country lane close to where I live and along the hedgerows there are aster’s growing and in flower. It’s the fleeting moment of life that you were talking off. Taking your advice I’ll look at the plants in my garden and see if I can make a bouquet along with some of the wild asters.

30 stem challenge for me today if it stops raining! I still have cosmos, nicotiana, roses and a few other flowers to pick. My asters are blooming like mad, so I will definitely be able to do something. I need to get more foliage though. Loved the video as always Georgie xx

The arrangements were more than pink enough. I loved the foliage, set flowers off beautifully. I found the music was a bit too loud for the flowers. 😊
