How to do Standing Bow Pose Next Level | A Hot Yoga Tutorial. In this video we cover the intermediate and advanced versions of Standing Bow Pose. Many consider this to be the most graceful of all the Postures in Hot Yoga, Barkan Yoga, Bikram Yoga and Ghosh Yoga! Dandayamana Dhanurasana in Sanskrit!

Cat has a "magazine cover" Standing Bow Pose. It's amazing how looking from a side view really does help you realize you CAN straighten the leg a little more. For me, I find I have to slide my grip down towards my knee just a little and really kick up - and that's when I have to work on the balance issues.

I used to hate this pose, but it has become one of my favorites. Always wanted to be a ballerina (never had any lessons), and this posture brings me the closest I've ever felt to that. Thanks, Jimmy!

I used to think I had a perfect Standing Bow…Then after coming to your classes and getting the correction I needed I realized a need to start over at the beginning with the fundamentals of this posture. Proper alignment and knowing what percentages of the body are being used (video #1) helps me get more out of my time spent practicing Standing Bow. Hamstring flexibility been has been my biggest issue to work on. Jimmyji, thank you so much for a great video that highlights what is next. I have hopes and dreams (and now instructions on how to) someday straighten my leg! ❤️😃❤️ (Beautiful example Cat!)

If there is ever a pose to spend a few minutes to clinic in class, esp for any newbies, this is my choice. Some people have trouble digesting info about hamstring tightness, but showing it or spotting someone clearly makes the point.

This is excellent guidance. But where is the line to draw on if one has flexible hamstrings or not? What is the standard you suggest, since the word flexible is relative? For example, if you can touch your toes in a forward fold, then you are in the group that should kick higher and faster?

How high you kick initialing depends on that hamstring… everyone is different everyday is different … but that’s where the practice comes in… the awareness each person has to figure it out … if they can’t come down at first they’re Probably kicking too high at first
