How to find a LOST hamster!

I hope these tips and methods help you find your lost hamster! Don't give up hope a hamster can go 4-5 days without food/water sometimes longer.

*pls read a lil* I lost my hamster *OUTSIDE* 8 HOURS ago, and he returned into my hands 5 minutes ago😭 he has been wandering around the neighbourhood for *eight* hours and then returned. How?? The same happend with my rat some years ago. She was inside my neighbours garage for 3 days, before she came into my hands once again.. last time my animals suffer from my clumsy mistakes, i can tell you that!😭 (Gilbert is fine now, just really, really dirty after walking so much in mud)

Same thing with my rooster (yes I once had one) somehow, he gets out of his pen (? I forgot what it's called) and got OUT of the house, and return 2 or 3 days later. This happened way too many times and we tried to secure the pen and everything, still escaped one way or another.

Hamsters release pheromones from glands on their bellies that leave an invisible trail for them to follow back to a certain starting point in the wild which would be some sort of den or burrow. In this case your hamster followed it back to your house. In the wild they use this to find their way back to their dens after going out for food or just exploring.

My hamster got through my heater cover and went through my vents... I was so sad and scared. I would have never found her if I didn't have my bad sleeping habits. I heard her scurrying around down there. I lived in a two story house. She fell down a 2 story vent and survived. No injures either. She is all good and healthy and I'm saving up my money to give her the best life possible!

My dwarf hamster escaped in my house and I had no hope of finding him. I used tons of advice and tips but nothing helped I had no clue where he was. After a week of him lost I thought he had died cause there was no way he was still ok after a week of no food or anything. But one day he just crawled out from under my sisters bed. I lost my Syrian hamster before and I did all of these tips but I just wanted to tell you the story. I went home at 8 or 7 maybe I think, but when I checked on my hamster I saw he was missing so I was panicking a little... so I looked everywhere and I couldn’t find him, but I did found his poop trail and some food trail and some bedding and I followed all of them but I still couldn’t find him... so I was sad :c then meh brother said I think I heard a sound, in the bathroom so I caught him laying in a toilet paper. And that was my story, good and cute ending, because he was laying in the toilet paper.😂

In lost mine but we knew the room so we put something to block the door and I was very worried so I kept checking the room after putting a little cage in there and he was not in the cage I saw him understand my chair I came toward him calm and slow put my hand down so he could see that one was a friend and he let me pick him up and O put him in his cage and thank god I found him when we lost him not even a minute passed on was crying.

I remember me at 1 am when I heard a weird noise that sounded like my hamster cage and I was like -Umm... Did I leave it open? Nah The next day I found him in a bag full of chestnuts that was in my kitchen A week later or so I placed him on his ball and it opened, it went behind the TV cables and I couldn't get him out, I gave him food, he didn't take it, I tried getting him with my hand, I couldn't. I gave up. I left him there and a bit later I see my hamster was in the cage and that it got past me without me seeing it. Nice.

Michi :3 I can relate, I lost my hamster two days ago because she chewed through her bin cage. The thing is, I didn’t know because I had her cage out in the hallway that night. The next morning, I put her cage back in my room. That night, I didn’t hear her on her wheel but I didn’t think anything of it. Today, I found out she is missing so we set up a humane mouse trap to hopefully catch her. I baited it with food and also put the wheel beside it. I’m just hoping my dog didn’t eat her ._.

@@kailey1114 well my dog did! he's a gentle dog but doesn't know how much they can handle. He had him in his mouth and squeezed too hard. He was in shock, and his nose was bleeding. It was more than likely that he was bleeding internally. I held him and pet him because I knew it'd be our last few minutes together.

Also don't worry to much. If your hamster enjoys living in its cage and knows that's were the bed and food is. It will probably make its way back eventually. My cage door became weak and she escaped but the she came back on her own xx

Thank you for this great video. My little Graylee got out of her container cage yesterday, I was frantic. We have 2 dogs and a cat that would have had her as a snack. I set up a small cage with books as steps and a trail of treats. This morning she was in the small cage running on her wheel. Making some changes to her bin. Thanks for your wonderful information!!

My old hamster was an escape Artist. Somehow he always manage to escape out of his cage. Every time he did it I was horrified. We always found him in the living room under the TV stand. But every time he escaped I would be very scared, because we have a dog and mouse traps around our house. Lucky for me and him he never fell for one of the mouse traps. He lived a long and healthy life!

I had lost my hamster about a week ago, set out food and the bucket traps but to no avail, i tore my whole room apart and looked everywhere, Me and my whole family even looked around the whole house. I was super worried because I couldn’t see any sign of him around and I thought that one of my dogs had surely gotten to him. But this morning I woke up to some ruckus under my desk, low and behold there he was chewing on a guitar chord! He’s safe and sound now, and enjoying being back home! So this goes out to anyone who’s worried about their hamster. Even if you looked everywhere and can’t find them, or don’t see any trace of them they could still be around! You’ll find them!

Victoria I just wanted to thank you. I clicked on this video yesterday, I lost my daughters hamster. I used your build a walkway into a bucket trick thinking it was a great idea but it would never work for me. Well, I waited until was dark, and went in and boom!! the little guy was down in the bucket snacking on some hamster treats. I felt so relieved. Thanks to you!!! My hamster escaped yesterday, (cut a HUGE big hole her size with her teeth in the cage) we looked everywhere, under the floorboards, in the stairs, in everyone's room, in the living room, and she was in the storage room-she hadn't gone far! She was a little bit nervous when she was found but I had to just grab her. She may take some re-taming but I'm so glad she's back!

We knew exactly where our little man was when he was still here. He came to us, honestly, and he could only have been in one room. He was always curious about people, and he liked sitting on their feet. If he heard a person walking, he'd immediately stop everything and follow them. If that didn't work, we just needed to rustle the food bag, which he was obsessed with. He knew exactly when food was coming.

I've had three hamsters since I was old enough to look after pets properly: Nibbles, Wiggles and Pickle. My first hamster Nibbles was always quite content staying in his cage and never really seemed to want to explore. Tbh I think he was just too lazy to bother escaping, that or he wasn't clever enough. He sadly passed away when he was 3 years and 5 months old 😭 My second hamster Wiggles was the biggest escape artist and escaped twice. His cage was kept downstairs but I often took him upstairs into my bedroom because it was pretty hamster safe. The first time he escaped he got scared and in the middle of the night he found his way all the way up the stairs, into my room and onto my face whilst I was sleeping😂😂 I don't know why but he was probably asking to be put back in his cage or something. The second time he escaped he was missing for a couple of hours but we finally found him cleaning himself behind a cushion. Despite all the escaping, he actually lived a remarkably long time and didn't die until a few days after his 4th birthday! My current hamster Pickle hasn't escaped but he is a bit of a monkey so we'll have to See. Hopefully not 😂 He will be 5 months old next monday

dude, i tried all of this, but none worked. my hamster is a small baby hamster, so obviously it will take a while. his name is noodles and im actually really really worried; -; also, if this helps, my house is really big house, 3 bathrooms, 1 livingroom, 8 rooms, 1 kitchen, and 5 beds. most of them were pretty obvious. and noodles was in the house and all doors were locked. anyways, if you know any place i should look at, please help.

check in any small spaces that you know of such as small cracks, corners, holes, dark spots, etc. hamsters love very dark spaces and are nocturnal so listen in each room in the house for a few minutes at night. eventually they will get hungry and may come out of hiding and return to safety in their cage, make sure you have water/food stocked in the cage and make sure the door is wide open. if you have an idea which room it is in set food traps and lock the door.

I was in my parents room with my hamster looking for some clothes I put her on the bed beside me and I could see grabbed a y shirt and she was gone I was crying and I was home alone so I was so scared after searching for like 30 mins I go to my room and see her there sitting in the middle of the floor 😏

So stressed right now, got my hamster yesterday and today I was adding some things to the cage and he escaped without me knowing. I found out when I heard him under the fridge and I've been trying to get him out all day.

Thanks for the tips! I left some food bowls in some rooms of my house and found that the one under my bed had food missing from it a few hours later. I shined my flashlight under my bed and I found him! Thankfully he hadn’t left my bedroom. If he had, I’m pretty sure one of my cats would have killed him. He’s safe now!

My hamster hammy fell out of my hand and I put his ball there and he walked into it because he was curious if u drop ur hamster and it does not run away either put its ball there or a jar if u want to u can put some food in there to I hope this helps

@@leilonilujan1033 its ok you'll find him! my hamster was missing for 6 days and we heard him in the wall and after 6 days i gave up i saw him walking on our floor :) a tip to get them out is to put peanut butter around where you think they are. they love peanut butter and they will smell it and go out to eat it. thats how i got my hammy out. dont give them too much though, its not that good for them.

I woke up by the sound of a rapper being chewed and i thought my hamster was doing it in her cage so i ignored it and got ready for school, when i was done i went to check on her like i do every morning, so i checked in her cage and i couldn't see her so i moved the bedding and started freaking out i told my dad and started searching the room and couldn't find her my dad said he would go home and look for her when i got on the bus, 8 HOURS went by and an extra 2 from my dance rehearsal and my dad said he didn't find her i almost gave up and looked for an hour before getting ready for bed and my dad screamed my name so i got up and ran in my dads room he had his flashlight on pointing TO MY HAMSTER ON THE GROUND BEHIND THE FAN!

Same story my hamster escaped while I was sleeping in the morning I came to check on him like I always do but found he was gone I started screaming and crying my Dad came in and asked me what’s wrong I told him my hamster escaped he then started searching and good thing it was the weekend or else I wouldn’t of went to school because I would of been worrying all day, so we started searching for hours and hours until we heard this noise of crunching I then saw my hamster in the vents so I told my dad and he said I’ll get him after trying and trying my dad got him luckily he was just there sitting and eating and he was safe! We got a bin cage since it was better and no way of escaping and from that day on I thanked god with all my heart and I’m glad you found your hamster! Those hamsters can be little divas lol!!

My little ones just lost their hamster this morning. When I was little I had hamsters and used the bucket method. I once lost my favorite hamster (looked like your Basil) outside in the yard. I put the bucket and steps with apple slices in and smeared the apple slices on the steps. He was in there in the morning! Whew! I hope this works for my children.

i think hes dead... my story is that there were some loud noises, he got very paranoid/scared and started running around and biting things. i think that he opened the cage with his mouth then ran out. i was looking for him, played music, layed food/treats and bedding everywhere, turned off the lights and more and nothing happened... im still looking for him at the moment. i hope he doesnt die though, he doesnt wanna come out and make any noise.

One time my hamster escaped and I didn't realize until I went to check on her that day. She wasn't in the cage so I panicked and started looking around for her. We eventually figured out that she was under our couch and my parents and brother had to lift the couch and I reached in and grabbed her . That was a pretty interesting day 😂

Thanks for the tips we found our hamster 🐹 we were so worried that he’d be gone forever, but when you stated look for him at night and place trails of food in places. We did just take and he came out of nowhere @11:30pm back into my kids room which whom he belongs too, but we searched hi and low during the day for him, and he was nowhere to be found

this video really worked!!! my hamster escaped while i was at school, so i wasn’t sure where he would be. at night (i waited until 10pm, when he usually wakes up), i set up the stairway/bucket trap and put peanut butter on little sheets leading up the stairs. within 10 minutes he came out from underneath my bed and head towards the trap. i caught him before he could even use it lol . this really works !! thank you!!

in the bucket trap put a a peace of foam or something on the bottom and then put a blanket on top that way when they crawl up the stairs and get on the blanket the blanket comes down and they can't get out just some hamsters are really smart so thay wont want to fall :)
