I can totally resonate with being heavier from the waist down . I’m a powerlifter and I’m struggling with losing 4lbs for my MEPS physical in 2 weeks. I’m a powerlifter and have lots of muscle mass (even abs!) but I’m still overweight! Can you make a video on how to meet the weight requirement easily while being a powerlifter/heavier ?! 🙏🏼 Thank you so much for your videos , always looking forward to them! ❤️

Love your content❤️ Thank you for your service! Can you physically show us proper form for sit-ups and pushups please. Are there any pull-ups involved?

joselin roque thank you!! And absolutely I’m actually working on a video for that! And during strength days we do pull ups/chin ups but only to warm up. I’ll be doing a video on what to expect during PT in BMT

hey if you’re doing a sit-up and ur feet lift up, do they count that??

Muscle is heavier than fat by volume. Of course a pound is a pound is a pound. But your pound of muscle will be larger than your pound of fat. If you take a cup and fill it with muscle and then take that same cup and fill it with fat the muscle will be heavier.

Do you have to do pull ups in BMT? Also, can you go back home right after BMT before tech school or how does that work?

Gisselle Martinez on strength days we warm up with pull ups but it’s kinda like a train workout for probably 2 mins tops. You get in line, run in place and do chin ups or pull ups and go to the back until the MTIs tell you to stop. Also you cannot go home after BMT into tech :/

Did you have to weigh in again at BMT? I was one pound over the limit at MEPS, but passed because the lady re-measured me and then rounded up. I was at the skinniest I’ve ever been and super fit, but still one pound over! I just have a body type that doesn’t show well on the BMI charts.

You will get tapped and weighed in BMT but that won't really matter at that point and TBH you'll probably weigh a lot less in BMT because a lot of people lose weight. I don't think they are doing that right now due to COVID but I can't confirm on that.

Amber Tantog Thanks for the reply! Ok, so even if I’m over the limit at BMT, it won’t get me kicked out? I’m going Guard, so I don’t have to go to MEPS when I ship.

What if you don’t meet weight,do they do measurements?

They will do measurements however, most recruiters cannot work with you until you make the weight. I struggled with my weight but I understood that I was the one who wanted to join and this was for my job. You got this, lose that weight and go and start your career! I dont suggest to do fad diets or "water" challenges because you will gain it all back. Just take it slow, lose 2 lbs per week and that is a healthy weight loss goal.

For the pre test do you guys do wide push ups??

Jacky Felix they’re gonna teach you to keep your hands stacked with your shoulders. You can work on wide pushups for variation of movements/muscle groups but you’re best off practicing regular push ups!
