How to increase or decrease the idle rpm speed on a Stihl M-Tronic chainsaw

Hey everyone!
This is how to manually increase or decrease the idle speed (RPM) of your Stihl M-Tronic chainsaw.
Maybe you bought the saw used and someone has messed with it before?
Maybe you're having a heck of a time diagnosing the problem because the saw wont run?
This will help you set your saw to the perfect RPM (2800 rpm at idle). It may take a couple adjustments to set it perfectly.
REMEMBER - if you are having an idle issue with the saw, there is likely another issue going on. This video is to show how to manually adjust the idle speed to help diagnose your problem, or to decrease a fast idling (previously adjusted) Stihl M-Tronic chainsaw.

Bits and pieces from your last video I see. Also, I don't like how convoluted that Stihl makes it to adjust idle on these carbs. On other Stihl NON-Mtronic engines, there's a hole in the shroud, you just gotta stick your screwdriver in to adjust idle. Any engine that need to be taken apart to adjust idle, should be avoided. I won't pay money for that BS, I don't care how good it is. Great instructional video Dave, I always appreciate when you show the details.

Steller! Yes I had to cut some of the other video in to show how I "got there". I just finished a rebuild on a NON M-tronic MS441c and I am very, very happy with it. I ask myself why I bother with the M-stronic stuff. Hmm.

Working on a 441 myself and it won’t idle at all. Tried to adjust it as shown in video, but not sure exactly how far to open it, is there any reference point? Or should I just keep messing with it until I find the spot? Thanks

Only a slightly unrelated note, can someone tell me what the spot on the outside cover between the pull cord and spark plug boot is? It has a black rubber grommet around it and looks like a keyway. I have this on my 441c and I have no idea what it is or what it does and it's driving me bonkers.

Jason, that’s a built in or “captured” nut to secure the plastic cover to the cylinder head. In another video I have on MS441CM carb kit replacement you can see my removal of that cover.

Things are even costing twice as much since the pandemic and supply shortages. And now with that illegal war going on across the world, now costs are going up even more, like oil prices for example. People keep hoping things will return to normal pre-pandemic. I am shaking my head and saying nope, they are only gonna keep getting worse. As long as human's fight against progress, things will continue to stay backwards.
