I just came across your video, this video has saved me. I have T-Mobile wifi and my latency would be anywhere from 130-999 in game. Now it stays around 80-104 very playable. Thank you!

Hopefully, it does. I've been playing ranked in the new Halo and I haven't had any major latency issues except random hiccups. When I was playing a game with more players like Battlefield I couldn't even play at first. This method at least makes the game playable. Set the settings under Nagle's algorithm to: disabled, enable, disabled. That gave me the best improvement.

My ping is usually 15-25ms.Downloads 150-650 down and 50-90 up.I luckily have a Tmobile tower on my property.I would also say to locate your nearest tower and try to place the gateway near a window facing that tower.That lowered my latency quite a bit compared to having it placed away from the window.

I avg 116-130 ms ping with T-Mobile internet on ps4 and Xbox. It’s playable but definitely not for competitive gaming. On my laptop I get 90-96ms. I will have to try this out

Yeah, ping that high definitely is not the best for anything competitive. As long as that's the only issue then this should help. I get packet loss and high jitter so this method only slightly helped me in the end.

T-Mobile's internet is not meant for real Time applications such as gaming the other issue that you may run into one plan on Xbox PlayStation and PC is the strict nat type. In general it's a huge Wi-Fi that has to be beamed from multiple towers over fiber in some places and into the game servers and then back so there's quite a big delay and this is one of the reasons right now anyway I can't recommend T-Mobile or any wireless internet service provider for real-time application such as gaming and video calls. It may have fast download and uploads with a local low pin time but when it comes to gaming it has to hit too many different cell phone sites and even on 5G Xbox servers are usually located in California so if you're over here on the East Coast imagine how many cell phone towers you have to hit just to get to that server and then it's got a basically do it all the way back that's where that extra ping times coming into play compared to a normal ISP where it's basically through fiber cables on the back end of the network

Wi-Fi has been mixed using my phone. Sometimes good, sometimes bad. Hardlined into the gateway, I get around 90mbs down and ping average around low 20s high around the 50’s. So if possible, hardline into the gateway, turn off all the ssid’s on the gateway, hook up another router and broadcast Wi-Fi from there.

I did this and also changed my settings with tcp optimizer and also found my best MTU which was 1420 and changed that, even with the extra router hooked up (netgear nighthawk something) it's nearly the same.

Yeah, exactly the same as my issues. I believe you can lower your NAT settings on your PS5 to see if that helps. This is my issue with the gateway not having enough features and settings itself.

@PitBullet
@PitBullet 2 жыл бұрын
@@talonlambrecht4589 same man even 70-90 it still feels like there's latency especially on bf2042, idk if it's the game itself or the internet, but I feel like I get screwed over in gun fights alot because they seen me 1st or were able to react 1st due to much lower ping, which sucks because BF is my fav multiplayer shooter, bf5 didn't seem to be as bad because it's more slow all around, also I feel like my bandwidth is just weak or something, something just feels off and it's frustrating
@talonlambrecht4589
@talonlambrecht4589 2 жыл бұрын
@@PitBullet Yup, any time I lose a gunfight or die I always have to second guess if it was something I did wrong or if it was just my internet. Jumped out of a jet yesterday and when I went to pull my parachute I "teleported" right into the ground because of packet loss. They need to unlock more features to us. My primary signal always defaults to an LTE band which has higher bandwidth but much higher ping too. I have a 5g band for my secondary but I can't manually switch to it to see if it would help gaming.
@PitBullet
@PitBullet 2 жыл бұрын
@@talonlambrecht4589I agree I want to be able to open ports ect. I only have LTE, I don't have the 5g at all so I'm stuck for now, ive had it for about a month and it seemed really good for a week or 2, a month in I'm noticing alot more frequent ping spikes and its just so frustrating, bf2042 already seems to have some network issues/net code like bf4 had in the beginning so this inconsistency on t mobiles end is just making it worse, this is the only internet option I have because I live on the outskirts of the city so the alternative is satellite and it's plain awful, I've seen people talk about switching their towers or bands but idk how to do that, do you know if cell signal boosters work for this internet?
@talonlambrecht4589
@talonlambrecht4589 2 жыл бұрын
@@PitBullet Lol I have 5G but can't use it since it just wants to use the LTE band for some reason. I don't know how people change these since there is no options to do so. Only thing I can do is everytime I reset the gateway it grabs a different band each time for some reason. I would imagine a signal booster would help, try contacting T-Mobile to see if they can provide one. There is also external antenna options but those are somewhat pricey but I have seen other people comment that they saw drastic improvements, but again it's expensive and is a decent amount of work.

@talonlambrecht4589
@talonlambrecht4589 2 жыл бұрын
If it's based on time of day it's likely because of network congestion. TMobile places home internet users in the lowest priority during these times. Some people also just reset their gateway when speeds get slow and it sometimes fixes it for a short time.

Im getting 300-400+ms ping with TMO home. Its way better if I just turn off wifi on my phone. I'm not a gamer but I have issues with video on my phone, teams meetings, google chromecast, and work VPNs. Do you have advice on how to solve this across the whole wifi network vs just on a specific machine?
@talonlambrecht4589
@talonlambrecht4589 2 жыл бұрын
Sadly a lot of those issues can't be easily fixed. The high ping like that can't be fixed until T-Mobile themselves improves the signal quality in your area. I have the same issue with video sometimes. My speed is great and should easily handle video but I think the high ping and jitter (packets having variance in delivery times) an cause major issues. I often times have a jitter at 100 ms and video streaming recommends below 30. Same with zoom and VPN's are a know issue with TMHI.

I didn't say specific settings because I had limited testing at the time. For the best gaming settings, this is what I have found. Use the optimal preset then in the "Advanced" tab of the Optimizer, set the "Gaming Tweak - Network Throttling Index": NetworkThrottlingIndex: disabled:ffffffff SystemResponsiveness: gaming: 0 You then want to disable naggling Disable Nagle's Algorithm": TcpAckFrequency: 1 TcpNoDelay: 1 TcpDelAckTicks: 0

I see conflicting information, here is what I found: Most gaming, voice and video applications use UDP packets. UDP uses a simple, connectionless communication model. UDP packets are just send along the way. When packets are dropped, you may lose a video-frame, but that’s OK: We humans don’t notice that. When gaming, a high latency internet connection can make the experience a bit sluggish. Unfortunately, UDP traffic can’t be optimized much, as it is an efficient protocol.
@talonlambrecht4589
@talonlambrecht4589 2 жыл бұрын
This is more complex than just saying most use one or the other. Like you said, UDP is a connectionless protocol and is faster since it doesn't have to complete the three-way handshake like TCP and unlike TCP it won't resend packets if it isn't confirmed they were delivered. Games use a combination of both of these transport layer protocols. VOIP does use UDP because a dropped ethernet frame every now and again is better than latency. Video applications actually primarily use TCP. Netflix and Amazon video only use TCP while KZbin used a combination of both, as some examples.
