Thank you so much for this tutorial. Wonderfully help and easy to follow. The only thing I say differently is about the cake leveller. I wouldn’t be without mine.

Will this cake transport easily? I see you didn't use a dowel rod to go through both tiers. Are supports on the bottom tier enough?

How long will it take for the cake to thaw after it’s been frosted?

Great video so much useful information. Some people use a wooden dowel in the middle of the cake. Is there any reason you didn’t use it on your cake? Thanks!
@BritishGirlBakes Жыл бұрын
I don't find it necessary for a two tier cake, especially if I'm not traveling far with it. This one only went 5 minutes away by car and with the supports in the bottom tier and the buttercream "glue" spread on top of the bottom tier to attach the top tier, it's stable enough without a central dowel :)
@jasmindrace Жыл бұрын
@@BritishGirlBakes thanks! I’m planning on make 3 tiers and it will be traveling about 20 minutes. So I better use a central dowel. 😅
@michelebostwick32426 ай бұрын
I've seen many people put a center dowel through both tiers and into the drum to secure them to each other and to the board. Is there a particular reason why you don't do this?
@BritishGirlBakes5 ай бұрын
If you're transporting the cake a long way or on uneven roads it would be useful but for a two tier cake I've never found it necessary. I keep the cake in the fridge until I travel and place it on a flat surface (usually the floor in front of the passenger seat) and drive extra carefully. I've taken a two tier cake on a 7 hour drive along very bumpy roads to a National Park and it was fine :)

I am making a 4 tier cake like this for a wedding this weekend . Its my first one and I am using 3 inch deep fat daddio pans in a 12, 10, 8. 6. The 6 inch is the take home cake for the couple. should I torte all of them into 3 layers? I have watched your video about 10 times ! I am definatly nervous 🥺I have a pretty long way to take it so if there are any tips I would love to hear them 😃 Thanks !!
@BritishGirlBakes Жыл бұрын
How many cakes are you baking for each tier? If you're baking 2 of the 3inch deep pans for each, I would divide them all in half to make 4 layers for each cake. You could do 2 layers but I think the ratio of cake to filling would be better with 3 or 4 layers of cake. For 3 layers you'd need to bake 3 pans for each tier, which would be very time consuming unless you have 3 pans of each size. Hope that makes sense!
@judy9165 Жыл бұрын
@BritishGirlBakes thank you for answering !! I may not have explained it well but I have 4 cake pans all 3 inches deep. A 12,10,8,6 so making 4 cakes 1 in each pan could I cut each of them them in half or thirds would be better ?? Lol sorry if I didn't explain it well lol 😅

Wow!!! I am a new subscriber and have baked a couple of cakes. I do have some questions, is it possible to bake a cake as beautiful as the one you have sugar free and gluten free? Love your Channel!
@BritishGirlBakes Жыл бұрын
Hi! I'm not an expert in gluten free or sugar free baking but these techniques will work on any cake as long the frosting is kind that gets firm when it's chilled

yes it will :))

What if we have different colours on the cakes? The upper one red, the other one pale blue. I think it is quite harder to make it smooth and to do not make "stains" on the other cake when we try to cover it up once it is put above the other cake..😢
@BritishGirlBakes Жыл бұрын
Great question! I would pipe a textured border instead like beads or shells or waves to cover the seam

Good tutorial however I disagree with how she trimmed the cardboard cake card and put it straight onto the bottom tier...surely there'd be shards of cardboard from the cutting and wouldn't putting a pieces of greasproof paper underneath the cake card be more hygienic..
