You need to find 100% acrylic ad mixture/bonding agent there are a ton of companies that manufacture it worldwide
@Danboi. Жыл бұрын
@@fauxrock so is it basically the same stuff you can use in my base concrete mix , and bonding as well as making your "hydrosealing" mix? I'm I'm making a tall rock wall water feature/pond, using styro as my form. 👊🇦🇺

I've purchased Sika Pro Select Concrete Bonding Adhesive/Acrylic Fortifier as my additive. Will that work? In Okla and hoping to avoid cracking with our swing in temps.
@fauxrock11 ай бұрын
@bast1964 yes that would work I would rather use a product that is 100% acrylic

What type of mesh are u using?
@fauxrock Жыл бұрын
I purchase $7000 roll of the mesh that I use… It is 4-ft by 7200 long and isn’t something that I sold to the general public. I’ve placed a link below for what I recommend you to use. The link below is for Home Depot, but Lowe’s also sells the same product. It’s 38“ x 150 ft cost about $64. www.homedepot.com/p/BOEN-38-in-x-150-ft-Non-Adhesive-EIFS-Stucco-Mesh-EM-38150/203071686 I appreciate you watching my video.

@bast1964 thanks for watching my videos. I really appreciate you taking your time to do so. The mash is in a link below. You can also get this at Lowe’s as well. www.homedepot.com/p/BOEN-38-in-x-150-ft-Non-Adhesive-EIFS-Stucco-Mesh-EM-38150/203071686

Hi, is it an expanding foam filler that you used to attach styrofoams together at the beginning?
@fauxrock11 ай бұрын
Yes, the product I use is an expandable foam it’s called great stuff and it sold it local hardware and box stores alike

Where do you source the Styrofoam? I was thinking of making freakishly large pumpkins for Halloween but couldn't find enough without having to buy an industrial quantity. Have you tried cutting the Styrofoam with a heated wire tool? It plugs in and stays warm and you don't need the open flame inside your garage. i have seen them at some hardware stores and there are videos here that show you to build your own.
@fauxrock Жыл бұрын
Styrofoam takes a lot of calling or emailing inquiry to different companies that manufacture items with Foam and have waste then they grind it up and sell it. Unfortunately, in today’s market, they are choosing not to grind it up and sell it but the densify it and sell it to manufactures who are creating new items out of the poly styrene. You may get lucky and find some though I don’t have any viable sources currently. Keep in mind you can always use perlite or vermiculite and accomplish the same thing, but never have any issue where the styrene melts with high heat vermiculite and perlite won’t do that. Yes, we have cut with hot nice hot wires, and all the kinds of things you can imagine. I make a hot wire by taking battery cables attached to a battery and then bailing wire between the two leads and it cuts like butter.

La malla que utiliza es plástica o metálica?
@StarGazer02708 ай бұрын
Es de fibra de vidrio usada para stucco y se consigue en Home Depot y Lowes, etc... pero tambien ha usado metal en otros videos de sus technicas.

Could you use this styrofoam method to make steps? I’m just curious if it would hold up. It would look great in front of my cabin. Thanks.

Yes if the cement covered foam had a cement foundation…

How do you make the mud mix?
@fauxrock7 ай бұрын
In this video, I just used a premixed mortar from Lowe’s or Home Depot. No special mix is really required unless you’re trying to make it lightweight and stronger.

Don't know if it helps but maybe a DIY big Hot Wire or a Reciprocating saw (like a Sawzall (not just another pretty name)) might make things easier.

if styrofoam is so hard to find, it hardly seems this would be a workable way to make fake rocks
@fauxrock Жыл бұрын
Ground styrofoam (re-grind) is very hard to locate these days due to the fact that the companies with scrape foam are now densifying/ melting it into blocks that are sold to companies who manufacture new Styrofoam products. There’s a lot more money in it for the companies that generate scrap to densify it, then to sell it as in years previous as “re-grind”. A lot of the people that I know that are using Styrofoam mixes are locating recycled, foam from communities, and then they’ve created crude machines that grind it into Re-grind. That takes a lot of dedication and effort which doesn’t seem financially viable to me. If I’m in the need for lightweight aggregate, I generally locate pearlite or vermiculite, which are naturally mined lightweight aggregates, with the very same characteristics as Styrofoam, but they don’t burn. And are much more economically viable in today’s market. All that said yes, if you could build with a Styrofoam mix, making rock is totally possible.

I utilize many different formulations for my Cement mixes, depending on the application. Due to the fact that I have a lot of KZbin viewers that will not ever participate with me as a paying customer I generally use a mortar mix that I buy premix from Lowe’s or Home Depot, which was the case in this video. There are many performance enhancements to increase characteristics that can be applied or formulated.. if you’re interested further you can always give me a call to discuss my services 971-237-2957.
