I am not Nigerian but my husband is and he is also a very good cook himself. I made this for him today for the first time in out 30 year marriage and he loved it. He said it was restaurant level cooking. I am Jamaican so our style of cooking is similar in some ways so watching your video and after having watched he and his family cook it was not hard at all. Very tasty. Thanks for your instructions. He was so proud of it he sent pictures out to all his family. 😀

The purpose of a stew is to put a bunch of leftovers in a pot and make it hardy. I can tell egusi was created for that purpose but as a cook I had this and some of the things doesn't have a good marriage. Cooking is a science and should have a balance chemistry. Crayfish, goat and palm oil with a tripe? Crayfish is extremely fishy and palm oil I recommend shouldn't be used for consumption but perfect for cosmetics, in which they do use. I will be doing my version and have my African friends try it. Mind you I do not repeat do not like changing the authentic way and I don't usually do this but I want to enjoy food from the motherland!

FINALLY!!!🎉🎉🎉 I always have a difficult time finding African Food recipe vids in which ALL of the ingredients used are explained. I was searching for an Egusi Soup video & all the ones I found skipped explaining a lot of key ingredients &/or methods (they would just film the ingredients or speak generally {I.e. grind your pepper 🌶️ mix and then place to the side}. I’d always be sitting there like WHAT ARE THE PEPPERS?! Or they’d just show certain points in the cooking without telling what they were doing or why. Your video was such an amazingly made & informative one! I appreciate you speaking clearly & slowly! TY! ☺️🙏🏽

I changed a couple ingredients and steps. I roasted my peppers and onions. Added roasted garlic and one roasted tomato. Roasting the vegetables adds a smokiness and adds a much needed level of depth to the stew. I also included smoked catfish, beef and stew chicken and less palm oil. So I had 6 assorted meats. Lastly I used a combination of ugu and bitter leaves. I'm American but my hubby is Igbo, his stomach looks like he is 4 months pregnant after eating a LARGE plate 😂. Thanx for sharing the basics for cooking egusi great video.

Egusi is luscious with portabello mushroom, spinach, pieces of moist smoked fish, Canadian smoked turkey drumsticks cut up into medium pieces cooked in your bell pepper/tomato/red onions blend and olive oil. You can walk into any African market/store in the boroughs of New York(NY is unique like that) and get all of these.

I tried this recipe today and followed it closely and I made the best egusi i have ever made. It also had a lot of pepper and my husband loved it considering we're in winter! I think the mistake i was making before was not using enough pepper blend and then using too much melon(egusi)..if you see, she used just little egusi..egusi soup needs a lot of that pepper base and sufficient oil,not too much melon.

My African friend said it was one of the best she ever had. It's easy n delicious. I used smoked turkey, goat meat n smoke crawfish. With fufu. 😁 thank you for this recipe .👌🏾

I made this on Sunday (2 May 2021) and I must say it came out excellent. I wanted a different taste of Egusi and Sisi Jemimah delivered. I haven't tasted your food but I just have this confidence that your cooking is the definition of Umami. Thanks for the tips and tricks. By the way, I didn't have half the ingredients you used but it still came out with a unique taste. Now imagine if I had added Shaki, cow leg, bow tie and whatever else there is...lol. Thanks once again.

Perfect! I'm glad I found you bc it's not easy to find a good Nigerian cooking channel, I just don't like how most of them cook or talk too much or it's bad editing taking too long... Now you really get to the point, explain the process and you just have a very good taste, good cooking methods, I'm looking forward to learn more from you. I'm from Slovenia and I love a Nigerian man. I hope I will cook for him soon, meanwhile I will practice with the help of your Videos.
