RECIPE:
Ingredients:
4-6 potatoes
4 garlic cloves
1/2 stick (55g) butter
3 tablespoons olive oil
2-3 fresh thyme branches
Salt
Pepper
Fresh herbs for serving
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 200c/390f. Wash and try the potatoes.
2. Slice the potato into thin slices, leaving 1/4 inch at the bottom unsliced. You can use chop sticks or wooden spoons to prevent from slicing the potato all the way through.
3. Place the potatoes on a lined baking tray.
4. Make the butter: in a small saucepan over low heat melt butter with olive oil, garlic cloves and thyme. Cook until butter is melted, and the garlic is soft. About 3-4 minutes.
5. Brush the potatoes with half of the butter mixture. Sprinkle the potatoes generously with salt and pepper.
6. Bake the potatoes for 30 minutes, remove the pan from the oven. sprinkle with thyme or other herbs. Brush with the remaining butter. Bake for another 30 minutes or until potatoes are crispy on the edges.
7. Sprinkle with fresh herbs and serve.

Great tip about using 2 x wooden spoons. I put both in my mouth and bit down hard, making me concentrate & focus on not cutting all the way through the potato - brilliant!

Add salt and pepper to the butter when adding garlic and thyme. Instead of brushing the butter on just pick up potatoes and flip over and set in the butter and wiggle it around a bit. They will open up on their own by the time you butter them all.

Cooking tip: Place the potato between two wooden spoons when cutting to keep from cutting too far down. This makes cutting faster and easier. Then, to paint with the butter, place potato across one wooden spoon and it will flare open and the butter will more easily flow between the slices.

@@rainnnnnn372 then you are not qualified to make this recipe. The tip is fairly straightforward in it’s description of the technique, but you might have an issue with reading comprehension or are too lazy to watch the video which would answer your stupid question. I think, for now, you should stick to Pop Tarts and microwave pizza. Ask an adult to help with the appliances and don’t forget your helmet.

I always cut a piece of the bottom of mine so they lie flat and still when I am cutting the grooves. You can still cook the small bits as skins. If you rest the potato between two wooden spoons you do not have to worry about cutting too far down as the knife stops at the spoons.

I would ask those thousands who disliked this simple but mouthwateringly delicious recipe 😋👍🌸why they didn’t like it or which part/ technique/ spice got them frowned🤔. Anyway, I’ll defo try it, thanks.😀
