Ulli Theeyal is a delicious and spicy dish from Kerala that is also popular in some parts of Tamil Nadu. In this video, I will show you how to make this dish with small onions (ulli) and drumsticks. Ulli Theeyal goes well with rice, dosa, or curd rice. It has a rich brown color that comes from roasting coconut and spices. It is different from karakulambu and vathakulambu in taste and texture. Ulli Theeyal - வெங்காய தீயல்
For Paste
Fenugreek (வெந்தயம்) - ¼ tsp
Coriander seeds (மல்லி விதைகள்) - 5 tsp
Red chilli (மிளகாய்) - 7 nos
For Kulambu
Coconut oil (தேங்காய் எண்ணெய்) - 4 tbsp
Fenugreek (வெந்தயம்) - ¼ tsp
Fresh coconut (தேங்காய்) - ½ cup
Mustard seed (கடுகு) - ¼ tsp
Curry leaves (கறிவேப்பிலை) - Few
Shallots (வெங்காயம் - சிறியது) - 1 cup
Drumstick (முருங்கைக்காய்) - 1 nos
Tomato (தக்காளி) - 1 nos
Salt (உப்பு) - As per taste
Tamarind (புளி) - A small Lemon size
Jaggery (வெல்லம்) - 2 pinches
Coriander leaves (கொத்தமல்லி இலைகள்) - Few
