It's a great miniature. The heroes from HeroQuest and Advanced Heroquest really embodied the concept of adventuring for me. One look at those miniatures and I was ready to kick down some doors.

@@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring While I agree, I see why GW have gone down the path they have. They've put themselves in a position where they have to keep pushing the envelope design wise. Even if they wanted to if they put out simple models like that these days most people would be unimpressed.

Oh, of course. They are the best at what they do and they have to prove it all the time. But that's not always the best way. It was interesting to see Peachy recently tearing into the overly-fussy designs of the miniatures, and talking about snipping off all the fiddly bits to get armies painted quickly.

Peachy was the former GW employee who did a lot of the studio painting and the GW painting videos. He left GW at the end of 2022 and moved to Painting Phase.

I was very glad that the warrior and the dwarf finished in first and second place in the poll. I was quite happy to paint either of them first, but definitely wanted to do them ahead of the elf.

Painting eyes is tough; recording yourself painting eyes is really tough!

It's the worst thing trying to get the shot for a video - you get it all set up, just the right amount of paint, hit record... nope. Missed it.

This is an excellent dwarf mini. I think the main difference is that this one seems to have been designed to be an Imperial Dwarf like many of the early minis were and the Quest one is a Dwarf Hold dwarf in support that matched that aesthetic into the 90s. The two styles didn't quite mix in an army even in 4th edition. That's design wise, quite apart from whatever fluff GW included in either game with the minis.

Yeah, I don’t like the oversized axe and helmet in the Quest one. It’s not a bad mini, just a bit too much. To be honest, I wasn’t really fond of many minis from the original Quest, especially the elf.

Nice work. How long do your brushes last. I find that mine starts to lose hair after some time. Don't know if I'm maintaining them wrong or if it's just very normal. I have painted my entire original heroquest set with them.

Brushes should last a long time as long as you clean them well and don’t let paint get in the ferrule. I recommend General Pencil Brush Cleaner. I did a video on it which you might want to check out.
