Hey Frank, what do you think about Ambivert? Would you count someone as an ambivert if s/he would say that about them or you would count them as slightly introvert/extrovert? Every time I do the 16p test I either get Entp or Intp, my family count me as an extrovert bc they all intoverts but I think ambivert suite me the best

Unrelated. But I need to say this. I feel so safe in the MBTI community. I started looking up about MBTI during mid quarantine. You can say I'm new to it. But still, it seems like a place where people want to understand themselves and others. There's hardly any place in the internet where there isn't toxicity. Great analysis. But there's one thing you keep mentioning about IXXJs that I think is misleading. It's less that IXXJs want to keep things limited and stick to the known and more that that they want to go deeper into what they've perceived rather than seek new things before they've dug deep enough into the known. So, basically, IXXJs go deep while EXXPs go wide. One seeks focus, the other variety.

I think you can tell this most easily with conversation styles. IxxJs stay on a certain topic very easily and will explore that topic deeply with their Ni and Si, making them seem more singleminded. Whereas ExxPs will jump between topics (either in an Ne or Se way) and will seem more scattered as they like to consider all the data available to them.

@@greatwavefan397 That makes sense Being vulnerable is scary tbh People usually think I am vulnerable because of how I present myself But with how I grew up I don't like being vulnerable I like to think I live is a glass box Not just any glass, one sided window type glass No one can see in however, I can see everyone else I have an option to escape the box but the way out takes effort to escape. With a possibility of getting cut & injured with glass. Staying the box keeps me safe. I can talk to others from the box though from the box it my voice isn't very clear. Since no one can see me they don't know how I actually feel. As much as I want to face them I am afraid to leave my box. I don't want this person to see me in pain. Sometimes my box doesn't always feel safe. It sometimes becomes very cold. Sometimes it overheats. A lot of times the walls of my box start closing in on each other suffocating & squishing me. Though never fully crushing me. A few people see my box & examine it. Then try to get me out. Usually I panic & have to fight to stop them from prying it open. When I win they leave which makes me sad but also I feel secure. When I lose they come in only to leave my box with junk & then climb out slamming my box shut. With family I open my box up letting them peek but not letting them get into my box. Family is okay with it occasionally asking if I want out. I deny most times. Very few people have gotten me out of my box. With those people I will leave only for a bit. I stay close to my box just incase. Once they go away or I get tired. I go back to my box. Did I just make a whole analogy for me not wanting to be vulnerable... Yes Do I regret doing so... Kind of as it took a bit of time I think I should sleep though it's 1am Have a great day/evening/night! Stay safe! Drink water! Do other stuff that is healthy... Bit of a hypocrite cause I should take my own advice (I give great advice but it's do as I say not as I do advice)

I would like to know how the 16 personalities deal with like conflict? As an ENFp I know I can become compliant, unless it’s towards someone else or an injustice ect in which case I am the opposite. But if someone is being mean to me or trying to start an argument my reaction is to diffuse it as quickly as possible and find a solution to the argument or like try and understand why the other person is acting like that. Idk it would be interesting to see how the types deal with it and why.

As a fellow ENFP, when I try to deal with conflicts that don't involve me, I first try to stop the argument/fight and observe the situation from an objective perspective. Then, I offer both practical and emotional advice to people. I still feel sad that people fight/argue and question why they do, but it's not a big deal. However, when I have to deal with a conflict that involves me, I imagine why the person is so anxious/angry and I often become sad tbh. I just can't fight back and often blame myself cuz I hate to admit that people can be evil (although that's true). I get pretty emotional, sensitive, and maybe even cry a bit (except for Internet wars since they aren't real human interactions imo). 😅😂

Depends on the severity of the conflict and level of maturity? Also ... when I was younger, I may have not wanted to talk about it, would’ve just bottled it in and avoided talking it out at all costs lol If I even tried *on the rare occasion* it would’ve just been this super awkward thing where I couldn’t even properly describe what I was feeling and much less understand theirs? Now that I’m older and especially if it’s serious or has the possibility of piling up into resentment, it’s going to be settled as quickly as possible.

I hope you get lots of people contacting you and wanting to be typed. Counter-intuitively, the most valuable part of the interaction will not be whether or not you accurately type them. The most valuable part will be you listening to their story with open acceptance and compassion. When someone is given that, it's a huge relief, and it causes a psychological "chemical" reaction to occur inside of them which allows them to move on from problems. Acceptance and compassion from another human being is magical. To use a metaphor (!) it loosens a psychological knot :)

A friend of mine I finally guessed lol that she is ISFJ. But I always thought she was a thinking type because she sounds very logical when she talks, she procrastinates a lot and I thought she was a P type, she is very friendly so I thought she was extroverted, and we studied psychology so she can study the theories of things. So it is a fascinating personality. I found a key question to type someone is "WHY do you LIKE this?" I asked her why she liked a movie and said "because they talk about doing good in the world" and I was like ok F type, and she didn't like another because "they said many metaphors" so ok S type. Also I always tried to type her without her permission and it never ocurred to me that it would be rude lol -- INTP

INFPs and INTPs are good at helping others discover their own inner values. It’s important to trust yourself of course, but ENFJs really have that Fi Nemesis/blind spot so I can see where it would be frustrating and exhausting to try to work out what you want entirely on your own.

MBTI is such a great framework, it's really helped me develop my social skills and understanding of people, especially myself. I always wanted to relate to others, but could never quite figure out how (probably because I used to have a strong tendency to tune out of conversations when they lose interest for me, and was always the first person to point out when someone was wrong).

This video was really helpful! I thought I was an ISFJ for a while, but then got mixed test results and got confused - because, like, of course some aspects fit everywhere but nothing is a 100%. Now I'm pretty sure that I'm indeed an ISFJ ^^

I've always wondered why I don't see many ENFPs in the comments. It seems like (based on 6:47) that EPs and IJs are focused on things and EJs and IPs are focused on people. I'm definitely an exception, I am beyond fascinated by people hence why I'm doing research on personality types in my free time.

I'm an INTJ but I'm very emotional. I don't have many friends and am often alone, so I have little to gauge whether I'm shy about sharing emotions, but I do notice I tend to be more "wooden" in public and in the company of others. But I'm very creatively expressive. I just adore the arts and couldn't fathom my life without them. I'm studying Creative Writing & Literature at the moment and I've never felt happier. I really think this is where I want to go in life. I've never been one to care about what society thinks or feels, and I would much rather do my own thing, which makes me think I'm INTJ, but as I mentioned, I have a great deal of emotion which may be INFJ instead. Help!

I mostly get INFJ but sometimes I get INTJ. The third one is hard to figure out because I make decisions using both logic and emotion. But after digging deeper into myself and watching your videos, INFJ makes more sense.

Great video! One thing to add, for me the Kiersey version (SP, SJ, NT, NF sorting) has also been helpful. I do think cognitive functions are the best way to think about it all, but there are observational frameworks where you can’t get much sense of them and that’s where it has helped. It can be a good quick sort, or a first step until/if you get more information.

It's been way too hard to type my personality. Tests didn't do me justisce as they they didn't in my school years. It's been a couple of years now that I take the personality tests intermittently, & they've given me INTP, INTJ, & some INFJs. I think once they gave me ISTP & ISTJ, too. So, I tried to find out my inferior functions, & to be sure I even embarked on an adventure to the dark realm of shadow functions to seek answers. I've just returned from this chaotic journey & it seems I'm an INTP, after all. I'm only 77% sure of it, though. I think I have to learn to accept it & let it slide this one time. We'll see!

If you have Si, you just throw all the Ni/Se types out of the window, that at least should be helpful.
@MoonshineBeforeSunshine
@MoonshineBeforeSunshine 3 жыл бұрын
@@timefortee Thanks! My Se seems bad, kinda like my Fe. My Si is kinda good. That's one of the reasons I think I may have to be an INTP, too. That's also why I went for the shadow functions to get a better closure: I've always been particularly bad at Fi. Despite the seemingly common negative position on the nagging side of the Ni for INTPs, I moderately consider the dark side of the Ni in my shadow function as a help of sorts, 'cause without it I think I can get carried away too much with a naivety in regard to the realistic demads of life. However, I have to agree with that common position, too - that Ni nagging sometimes tends to get too much negative & illogical to handle. Interestingly, I've had a problem with the recognition of Se; namely, I don't know whether my having been good at making sketches (almost exact replicas) of things since childhood is a sign of a strong Se or Si. I never had schooling or official training at making sketches of things, it came to me naturally as a kid. So, I don't know whether this childhood talent constitutes as a Se or Si. I suppose it is Si, though, 'cause since childhood I've also had vertigo, & I know that is just the strongest sign of a weak Se.

@@MoonshineBeforeSunshine Si is also about remembering and then reproducing sensory, real life data in different forms. Think all those oldschool landscape paintings full of realism and meticulous detail- to me it's the perfect Si + Ti combo.

@@timefortee very good insight! I think you're right, Lolita, since my drawings took a considerable amount of time to finish compared to those of other kids, 'cause the meticulousness that I was obsessed with in regard to details consumed a lot of time which requires a high use of Ti.

It can be worse, when everyone has to say or read sth out loud, and everyone except you has and when it's finally your turn, the teacher says "Fine, now that we've heard everyone's opinions/texts... let's move on". Not even the students notice you haven't spoken!! LoL Not that I regret NOT having to talk though.
