Hey, Mike. Im using a Irig but im having trouble separating the backing track from my drum sounds. when I record, it picks up my backing track, as well as my playing. How can I fix it to where I can still here my music and my drums, but my drums are the only thing being recorded?
@MikeBarnesDrums Жыл бұрын
So the iRig is a very simple bit of kit, it will record whatever’s running through it. If you’ve got your backing track running into the “mix in” on your sound module, the iRig will record that too. As I say in this vid it won’t give you any post-production possibilities, but if you get the levels right in the first place it will work. If you really want to be able to control your drums and backing track separately, you’ll need to use a sequencer/DAW of some sort and line the two things up afterwards. Cheers!
@MikeBarnesDrums Жыл бұрын
Most of the E-kit covers recorded on this channel are done using this simple method (recording backing track and drums together). Like this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jnKvqp2Qh8d_f6Mfeature=shared

how do you get the music to be heard so your playing over the music and recording audio and video as well. do you need a second camera? thanks mike, awesome channel
@MikeBarnesDrums2 жыл бұрын
Usually, I just have the backing track simply running from my laptop into the drum module via the "mix in"/"aux in" socket. The iRig would then simply record the kit and the track together, i.e. everything that the module is outputting. That doesn't allow for any level adjusting afterwards though - so you need to be happy with the level of the track when recording. I use that method for everyday vids and I'd say it works just fine. Here's an example of a recording done like that: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gpqvZ3uId9Sro5o (or tbh any vid on this channel where I'm playing on the e-kit along to music!) Cheers.

Great vid! Question. I have an iPhone 11, a set of Roland V-Drums, and I typically run Spotify through my iPhone patched into the V-drums with headphones on in order to play along to a song. If I use the iRig, and play to a Spotify track with my iPhone, and set my phone to the video record setting, will that work for the iPhone capturing me playing to the track *with* video? Hope that makes sense. Thanks in advance! Subscribed.
@MikeBarnesDrums4 жыл бұрын
Joseph McKenna Hi Joseph, thanks so much man! The answer is no, as far as I’m aware you can’t use your phone to both play the backing track on Spotify and record video with the iRig. There are plenty of other options though. You can transfer your backing track to a USB stick, plug that into the Roland module and then the iRig will pick it up. Or just run the track from a laptop/different device etc :)

Thanks for sharing Mike. Have you compared the duo with just a single channel offering? I have the TD11 too, but obviously the 2 channel duo is quite a bit more expensive than the single channel irig. Thanks
@MikeBarnesDrums4 жыл бұрын
With 2 channels, you can obviously record 2 instruments/microphones, or you can record your kit in stereo - you can pan your toms and cymbals in various positions from hard left to hard right and hear that stereo spread, which is always nice. But if your kits sound good, then mono is still gonna sound perfectly fine. For most of my videos using V-drums I've recored the drums in mono, because I'm using the other channel on the iRig Pro Duo for my vocal mic. So it boils down to how much do you value stereo sound/the ability to add another instrument or mic into your recording. Cheers man!
