Kelly, To reduce stress and overthinking be careful what you feed your mind. Avoid comparing yourself with others, any bottled up emotions need to be shared with someone, reduce watching negative social media and avoid constipation as it affects the mind. Your breathing is closely related to the brain [mind] and gives relief from stress-anxiety. For a relaxed mind observe the sensations of your natural incoming--outgoing breath at the entrance of the nostrils for 10-15 minutes or more. You can sit anywhere or lay down--eyes open or closed--No deep breathing. Don’t fight your thoughts. Never meditate with expectations. Make it a lifetime habit to observe your breath day and night before sleep, when travelling, when reading, at the workplace etc, etc. Best wishes--Counsellor.

If you have anxiety, try these things: - Cold shower everyday after waking up - Yoga - Meditation - Healthy diet - Exercise - Let go of your ego and accept that you are weak. Learn how to accept your weakness and losses. Don't worry about others, and accept losing. Losing makes you strong if you are willing to learn from it. Be more willing to fail instead of winning. Be more willing to make mistakes instead of doing it perfectly. Be more willing to show your flaws rather than please others. Let go of your big ego.

You are so right. The only thing to do is to take action, there is not trick or any smart ways to deal with anxiety at all. Changing our habits and mindset is not done thru' any miracles. It is hard work and is done little by little by taking concrete action, again and again and again, till we realise and experience the change to become out new habit. If you have been in a state of anxiety for like 5 years - It will also take 5 years to get back on track again. That is the truth none of these smart yoga, meditation, self-development coaches etc tells you - they just want your money.. Same goes to all the sellers of antidepressants and other medicine..

I suffer from chronic fatigue, which causes bad anxiety. Both issues feed off each other. The more fatigued I am, the worse my concentration is and the more I make mistakes leading to me becoming self-conscious and anxious. Also, the more anxious I get, the more it drains me. The last 16 years of my life have been quite miserable, and I'm only 28. I have trouble holding on to jobs despite my best efforts and have trouble making friends. I can't hold proper conversations as I often freeze up when people talk to me and I find it extremely humiliating. This leaves me to avoid people as much as possible. I feel overcoming my anxiety is crucial to my happiness, but it's really hard when I can barely function due to my fatigue.

I am so sorry to read that, my friend. I'm 39 and in the past 2 or 3 years life got so tied up in a knot of just troubles, problems, issues and just bad things all around me that i can't function anymore as a human being. Instead of freezing i just get very aggressive with people, sometimes ending up in fights. When i'm at home, where i supposed to feel safe i feel nothing but fear and that strange feeling like impending doom is closing in on me. It's really destructive. Herbal medicine doesn't help, benzos only help for a short while. Not even sport is relieving me of the anguish. My relationships are ruined by this and it just feels like there is no escape from it. I understand you, but sadly i can't offer any solutions. Still have hope that people like us will find peace at some point. Stay alive Arcadeus, maybe it will change.

I have read how bad this the withdrawals are going to be if I ever stop taking the benzos. I know many people who have recently been cut off of the meds they were put on years ago and honestly I am afraid of what I will go through if I am cut off of the benzos. Always thought I could handle everything until it got to the point of extreme anxiety attacks that make you physically suffer. Guess it was a sign to face and deal with issues I had ignored for a long time. Something that helps me is to deconstruct what I'm feeling in a logical way so it seems clearer that these feelings and being generated by myself.

I'm having horrible anxiety and it makes my heart start racing like crazy. It's stress from work over thinking stuff, my body hurting all over the place. I just came back from the urgent care. Dr doesn't see anything obvious. Heart checks out, blood pressure OK, nothing. It's all in my head. He gave me some anti anxiety medication that I have to go get tomorrow morning. I get panic attacks when my heart starts racing and when I try to sleep, I get jump scares. I'm going to lower my stress levels by eating better, and trying to change my work schedule so that I can sleep more. Another problem that I have = not enough sleep. I'll be 49 next month, so I have to slow down or I can end up in the hospital. All this anxiety stuff is new to me.

Bowing down with elbows on the side actually represents the position of prostration(sajda) which is done by Muslims while praying namaaz. And trust me, it does feel a lot better while and after praying namaaz, as we have to do multiple prostrations like these, with an average time of 5-10 seconds taken for each prostration. After namaaz, we prostrate one last time and let our heart out in front of the Lord. That prostration can be as long as one wants, where we mention what we aspire for, what we want and mostly positive stuff about gratefulness for the life. It's not surprising at all that what was laid down for us 1400 years ago and mentioned specifically that this thing will help solve your problems and make you feel better, science has come to find it out not until recently after extensive research and advancement.

I work on a pediatric transplant floor. Kids are one way in the morning and then we have a code right before night shift change. Over a decade there I've learned to process one thing at a time. Slow is smooth, smooth is fast. If you have 10 things to do, you have to take 3 minutes to figure it out and plan it. If it's an emergency, you still have to make time and think it through. I found that if I run to a code, I arrive all in a huff, adrenaline blasting through my system. Now I walk to codes and I've noticed a massive change.

Anxiety and insecurities comes from a real place that you are either neglecting or are simply unaware of, for lack of self understanding. Denial can only bring you so far, accept what you cannot control and fix and improve what you can. Chances are, you can do something about it, you are just being lazy or too arrogant to look for help, sticking your head In the sand like an austrich, taking your pills. Confidence is you being proud of yourself, succeeding an endeavor , knowing you pushed through even tho you wanted to quit. Be brave 👏🏼💪🏼 go stay that dragon

My counselor once helped me telling me that anxiety/panic attacks are just like a book. Theres a beginning, a middle, and an end. We can always recognize the beginning. But once we come to the grips that the attack is real and happening, in that moment we are now in the middle. We know its going to take a while. But it will end. The breathing will regulate, your voice will come back. Then we can realize that the end is near. Weve made it thru the hard part. Now its the end. Its over. We did it. We won.

Thanks for your work. Took me years to figure out that hunched position. But another good one is lay flat on the edge of your bed with one or two legs touching the ground, really opens up your airways and helps to get your breathing right, which you said is the main thing with anxiety.

In some sense you’ll always have anxiety. I find mental meditation is the most effective way to manage mine - by visualizing and overriding the part of my brain feeling anxious. Unprocessed thoughts are often my source of stress and feeing my way through the clutter often calms me down.

Namaste Pranic breathing can help as below Gently place your tongue on the roof of your mouth. This helps circulate energy throughout the body. Inhale through your nose for six counts. Hold your breath for three counts. Exhale through your nose for six counts. Hold your breath for three counts. This 6-3-6-3 breathing completes one cycle.

I have some traumatic events that keep haunting me until today and it was because of a woman . Unfortunately I am still suffering from it and have constant anxiety 24/7 . I had to study for long hours . One of the techniques that helped me to cope with anxiety was to slow down while I am studying . It helped me to focus but didn't solve the problem. I still have panic attacks . But I can study . Try it it's like the breathing technique that the dude is describing
