the guy on the lathe needs his own channel! I've seen him in soo many videos now and they are uploaded by different channels too, he's everywhere!! This man surely knows what he is doing, some of the stuff I've seen him repair would never have been done anywhere, it would have been thrown out for scrap! Great job as usual, can't wait to see more of his repairs.

The surface imperfections at the edge of the finish weld are the initiating point of the next failure. The heat affected zone of the weld will form the crystallization structure for the fracture to propagate along. So he has the alignment aspect good, just needs to turn the surface smooth, heat treat for spring performance, then polish. The shaft is shorter, he could have weld built up the centre of the spike end to maintain the length but maybe he did. Most likely the shaft broke due to overloading, this repair isn't as tough as original so this process is bound to repeat.

Surprises me that nobody saw how he didnt clean the parts, or how he had left the grease from the support tool on the tailstock that he used to support the hub end of the axle, just in the divot he drilled, he just left it in there and mated the parts up to weld them like, oh yeah, that’ll hold up great. It might hold up, with an empty truck and just to get home if your out in the middle of nowhere. You wouldnt rely on it for a job though.

Nah, they wouldn't do it if it's doesn't work. It did work, not for very long, but long enough for them. Probably because they don't have money to buy new parts, so they resort to this "repair" instead.

the whole welding current runs through the spindle bearings. not a good idea to weld in a lathe. better connect the ground clamp to the workpiece itself.

As you can see at about :15, this spot on the axle has broken before, been welded, now it has broken a second time. Perhaps one could take this as a learning experience: First don't overload the truck so the axle doesn't twist off. Ok, if you ignore that, then maybe after the first repair failed, realize that welding isn't the cure-all. In fact, it weakens the welded area. But no, go right ahead and do what has failed before. That's how poor countries stay poor.

In many parts of the world, overloading is not by choice. Everybody overloads and substantially. If you don't overload, you don't survive the competition.

The method of installing the piece is incorrect. Adjusting the axis is primitive, at least, using the comparator

Yeah however the length of the shaft and a spline coupling at one end will allow for the overall runout.

On a long shaft, that allows for a surprising amount of torsional “flex” that’ll soften/absorb some torque, this repair might last awhile even though the original heat treat is cooked out, if driven very smoothly.

Hay fallas en el proceso de soldadura, como primer punto debería haber un precalentamiento del material a soldar, entre cada cordón de soldadura aplicado , se debía hacer una limpieza de la zona, quitar la escoria, pasando un cepillo de alambre, luego limpiando con la pulidora, los dos últimos cordones de relleno están muy anchos, no importa que los electrodos fuesen de 5/32 de espesor..del resto del proceso todo bien.
